기록의 저장/보존매체로서의 광디스크(Optical Disk)시스템 활용현황에 관한 연구

Abstract

情報化 社會로 일컬어지는 오늘날의 사회는 개인과 사회가 持續的으로 존재할 수 있는 수단을 제공해 주는 情報와 知識의 量이 급격히 膨脹하고 있으며 이러한 정보를 보다 잘 記錄하고 貯藏/保存하여 쉽게 利用, 管理하고자 하는 인간의 욕구 또한 날로 높아지게 되었다. 그리하여 그러한 인간의 慾求를 充足시키고 앞으로 예상되는 기록 정보의 양에 대처하기 위해서는 高密度, 大容量의 정보 기록이 가능한 貯藏/保存 媒體가 필요하게 되었고 光디스크(Optical Disk)의 출현은 바로 이러한 요구의 부응이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 硏究는 일차적으로 記錄의 貯藏/保存 媒體로서의 光디스크 시스템에 관한 국내외 문헌을 이론적으로 고찰하고 이를 바탕으로 우리나라에서의 기록의 저장/보존매체로서의 광디스크 시스템 活用 現況을 조사하여 광디스크 시스템의 導入과 活用에 있어 보다 나은 活性化를 위한 基礎資料를 제공하려는데 그 목적이 있으며, 이를 위해 10개의 광디스크 시스템 판매회사와 34개의 활용기관을 대상으로 說問 調査를 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 국내에서 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템은 1989년과 1990년에 이후에 硏究機關, 企業體, 大學圖書館을 중심으로 활용되기 시작했다. 2. 현재 국내에서는 연구기관과 기업체를 중심으로 改書形(Erasable) 디스크가 가장 많이 활용되고 있으며 다음으로 再生專用形(ROM: Read Only Memory)이 대학도서관을 중심으로 활용되고 있는 반면, 追加記錄形(WORM: Write Once Read Many)은 永久約인 기록의 저장/보존을 필요로 하는 곳을 제외하고는 거의 활용되고 있지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 현재 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템은 수서, 편목을 포함한 圖書館 作業과 文書管理와 같은 記錄의 貯臧/保存에 가장 많이 활용되고 있으며 다음으로 이미지프로세싱(Image Processing), CAD(Computer Aided Design)/CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing), 화일링시스템(Filing System)등에 활용되고 있다. 3. 광디스크는 大容量의 貯臧 能力, 긴 壽命을 통한 保存性, 取扱의 容易性, 檢索의 容易性 및 信賴性과 같은 특성으로 해서 가장 적절한 기록의 저장/보존 매체로 나타났다. 4. 현재 판매하거나 활용하고 있는 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템에 대해서는 전체적으로 滿足하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 5. 현재 활용하고 있는 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템에 대한 問題點으로는 高價의 光디스크 시스템 購入費, 國內 自體 製品 및 소프트웨어 開發의 不足, 해당 관련 기관의 財政的, 行政的 支援의 不足 등이 지적되었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 토대로 본 연구에서는 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템의 도입과 활용에 있어 보다 나은 활성화를 위해 다음과 같이 提言을 하고자 한다. 1. 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템이 보다 활성화되기 위해서는 國內 自體 製品 및 소프트웨어의 開發과 普及이 이루어져야 하며, 동시에 많은 硏究 活動이 이루어질 수 있도록 국가나 해당 관련 기관의 財政的, 行政的 支援 政策이 절실히 요구된다. 2. 광디스크의 技術的인 側面에서 헤드의 小型化를 통한 엑세스 시간이 減少되어야 하고, 디스크 兩面의 同時 엑세스가 가능해져야 하며, 상호호환을 위한 標準化가 완전히 이루어져야 한다. 3. 광디스크 시스템의 구입비가 減少되어야 하며 판매회사들간의 더욱 활발한 情報 交換이 이루어져야 한다. 4. 기록의 저장/보존 매체로서의 광디스크 시스템의 활용이 보다 활성화되기 위해서는 LAN(Local Area Network)을 構築하여 여러 사람이 데이타베이스를 共有할 수 있도록 하는 것이 바람직하다.;In this information society, the quantity of information and knowledge which offers a means for individuals and societies to exist continually is increasing rapidly. And the desire to record, store and preserve information and knowledge increases greatly. So archival storage/preservation media which have potentional for high density, high capasity are needed to satisfy and meet an increse in quantity of information. And then the advents of optical disk is an answer to those desires. The purpose of this study is to survey to current status of optical disk system utilization as archival storage/preservation media to propose a more effective utilization of the optical disk system through 10 selling campanies and 34 practical use agencies. The major findings of this survey can be summarised as follows: 1. During 1989-1990, the optical disk system degan to be utilized in research institutions, enterprises and university libraries in this country. 2. The erasable disk is utilized mostly in research institutions and enterprises, the ROM(Read Only Memory) is utilized in university libraries. But the WORM(Write Once Read Many) is seldom utilized. And the optical disk system is utilized in library works, Image Processing, CAD/CAM, Filing System and so on. 3. The optical disk system is best suited for archival storage/preservation media owing to its high storage capasity, archivility, ease of handling, ease of retrieval, reliability and so on. 4. The satisfaction of using optical disk system is good. 5. The problem of optical system utililization in the present was pointed as the expensive purchase price of the optical disk system, lack of the domestic products and software development, shortage of financial and administrative support. Several suggestions based on the above results are proposed as follows: 1. To activate more quickly the optical disk system as archival storage/preservation media, it is necessary to develop and supply domestic products and software. In addition, financial and administrative support policies for much research are needed. 2. In technical aspects, the access time through the minature of the head must be shortened and standards for interchange must be accomplished. 3. There must be purchase price for optical disk system must be curtailed and active exchange of information between the selling companies. 4. To activate more widely the optical disk system, it is desire that many people communally own a database by establishing LAN.
