어린이用 韓國偉人傳에 관한 一硏究

Abstract

本 硏究는 어린이用 偉人傳에 기대되는 價値를 유지하기 위하여서는 偉人의 人間像의 復元 問題가 중요하다는 見地에서 어린이用 韓國偉人傳의 主題人物 得示面을 檢討하여 問題点을 指摘하는데 그 目的이 있다. 本 硏究의 구체적인 資料로는 現在 韓國의 많은 歷史的 偉人들 가운데 가장 代表的인 存在로 强調되고 있으며, 또한 시중에 나와있는 어린이用 韓國偉人傳 가운데 量的으로 으뜸인 李舜臣 將軍에 관한 傳記를 선택 하였다. 本 論文에서 指摘한 問題點은 다음과 같다. 1. 偉人의 人間像을 提示하는데 作家의 想像力에 의하여 傳奇的 資料에 없는 事實을 創造하거나, 資料에 있는 事實을 誇張, 또는 僞造함으로써 결과적으로 偉人의 人間像을 實際 이상으로 理想化시키는 것은 어린이에게 偉人의 참모습을 理解시킬 수 없다. 더우기 너무 理想化된 人間像은 어린이로 하여금 競爭心을 유발시키기 보다는 도리어 否定的인 自念을 싹트게 하기 쉽다. 2. 偉人의 人間像을 提示하는데 作家가 想像力을 사용하여 '偉人에 관한 傳記'가 아니라 '作家에 의한 偉人傳'을 만들으로써 때때로 偉人의 人間像을 損傷시키는 것도 또한 어린이에게 偉人을 바르게 認識시킬 수 없으며, 偉人이 어린이의 同一化의 對象이라는 점에서 問題가 심각하다. 3. 偉人의 人間象을 生來的인 것으로, 또는 少年期에 이미 固定되는 것으로 提示하는 것은 어린이에게 人間이란 生涯를 통하여 부단히 變化하고 發達하는 存在임을 認識시키지 못하므로 어린이의 希望을 높여줄 수 없으며 自我를 上昇시키기 위하여 努力하도록 剌戟을 줄 수 없다. 4. 偉人의 全貌를 提示하지 않고 公的인 面에서의 人間象을 提示하는데 치우치는 것은 偉人의 偉大함을 폭넓은 普遍的인 次元으로 提示하지 못하는 것이므로 어린이의 生活 全般에 뿌리깊은 영향을 주기 어렵다. 또한, 人間이 多樣한 側面의 存在임을 어린이에게 충분히 理解시키기 어렵다. 5. 偉人에게 '하늘의 使役者'라는 後光을 賦與하거나, 超人的인 要素를 가미하여 偶像化시키는 것은 어린이로 하여금 偉人을 追從不可能한 存在로 認識시켜 어린이의 自身의 可能性, 希望, 勇氣, 競爭心 등을 느끼기 어렵게 한다.;The purpose of this study is to point out the problems involved in presenting the subject of a biography in such a way as to maintain his true image without losing the values expected of children's biographies of great men. The major stop in the study has been the careful examination of five selected biographies of Admiral Yi. I based my choice on the fact that Admiral Yi is generally accepted as a hero and historic figure of considerable stature. In addition, the number of biographies of Admiral Yi greatly outnumbers those of any other national figure. The problems referred to above are as follows: 1. In presenting the image of the great man, the author tend to extreme idealization, using fictitious facts or misusing known facts. Thus they present to the child reader a picture which is far from a true one, one with which it is impossible for him to identify. 2. At the same time, there are some fictitious aspects which seem almost degrading to the image of the great man, and therefore are apt to exert a negative influence upon the child reader. 3. The authors present an unchanging image of the great man from childhood to manhood, ignoring the fact that in reality man changes and developes continally throughout his life. Such an unrealistic approach can not in anyway serve as an inspiration to the chilk reader. 4. In the treatment of the subject's life the personal side is sacrificed to the official side. This limits the inspirational value to the child reader. Furthermore, it tends to present to him a false view of a human being. 5. Making a sort of demi-god of the great man by endowing him with the attributing to him the qualities of a superman makes him a remote figure impossible for the child reader to relate to on the human level.
