한국 전래동화에 나타난 도덕성 분석

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to offer the elementary data of moral development in early childhood and the guidance of utilization by analyzing the themes and morality showed in the Korean fairy tales frequently used in kindergarten. The research items are as follows; 1. What kinds of Korean fairy tales are popular in kindergarten? 2. What is the level of moral development stage of Korean fairy tales? 3. What is the themes and social value connoted in the favored Korean fairy tales? 4. What is the dilema decribed in the Korean fairy tales? This sudy analyzed fifty Korean fairy tales favored by young children. These fairy tales were selected by the result of questionnaire. The themes of Korean fairy tales were divided in thirteen categories based on the study of Son, Dong-In(1984) and Jung, Dae-Ryun(l990). The thirteen categories of Lee, Kyung-Woo's sutdy were used in analyzing contents of social value connoted in the Korean fairy tales. The level of moral development stage was analyzed by Kohlberg's moral development stage theory. Collected Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage. The results of the study are as follows; 1. The highly ranked ten Korean fairy tales are The uncle with a wen, The sun and the moon, The magic folding fan, Heung-Bu and Nol-Bu, The rabbit and the tutle, The magic mallet, A dutiful tiger, Golden ax and silber ax, Tiger and dried persimmon, A stupid tiger and a clever rabbit. This result shows that the preferred Korean fairy tales are stories of magic or personified animal. 2. In consequence of analysis based on the Kohlberg's moral development stage, each 34% belong to each the second and the third stage, 26% to the first stage, 4% to the fourth stage, and 2% to the fifth stage. 3. In the distribution of themes, the frequency of greed is 14 times, and virture, reproval of vice or retribution is 12 times, respect for human and life is 10 times, wisdom and wit is 9 times, deligence is 6 times. The origin of natural things is 5 times, brotherliness, and honesty are 3 times. And respectivly, filal piety, cooperation are 2 times, finally friedship, and patience are 1 times, respectively. In the frequency of connoted social values, faith appears 16 times, frequency of cooperation is 13 times, protection of property is 12 times, honesty and friendship are 10 times, respectively, fairness and sharing are 7 times, respectively, understand of other's position is 5 times, politeness is 5 times, filial piety is 4 times, patriotism and appreciation are 2 times, respectively, and regularity is 1 time. 4. The contents of dilema described in Korean fairy tales are summarized in three categories. First, telling the lies to escape crisis. Second, telling the truth or not. Final, cheating a person to be rich.;본 연구의 목적은 유치원 현장에서 가장 많이 사용되면서 어린이들이 가장 선호하는 50편의 한국 전래동화에 나타난 주제 및 도덕성을 분석하여 유아들의 도덕성 함양의 기초 자료 및 이를 도덕적 토의 자료로 활용할 수 있는 지침을 제공해 주는데 있다. 이와 같은 연구목적을 위해 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다. 1. 유치원에서 어린이에게 선호되고 있는 한국 전래동화는 무엇인가? 2. 한국 전래동화에 나타난 도덕수준은 어떠한가? 3. 선호되고 있는 한국 전래동화의 주제 및 내포하고 있는 사회적 가치는 무엇인가? 4. 한국 전래동화에 나타난 갈등상황의 내용은 무엇인가? 본 연구의 분석 대상 도서는 어린이들이 선호하는 한국 전래동화 50편이었다. 이는 단순 무선표집된 유치원의 교사들이 응답한 질문지로 선정되었다. 한국 전래동화의 주제구분은 김세희(1982)와 손동인(1984)의 연구에 기초한 13가지 범주로 나누었고, 내포된 사회적 가치의 내용은 이 경우 외(1989)의 연구에 의한 13가지 범주로 분석되었다. 한국 전래동화에 나타난 도덕수준은 Kohlberg의 단계에 따라 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유치원 어린이에게 선호되는 상위 10편의 한국 전래동화는 혹부리 영감님, 해님달님, 빨간부채 파란부채(요술부채), 흥부와 놀부, 토끼와 자라(토끼의 간), 도깨비 방망이(금방망이 은방망이), 효성스러운 호랑이, 금도끼 은도끼, 호랑이와 곶감, 호랑이를 골려준 토끼 순으로 나타났다. 어린이들이 좋아하는 한국 전래동화는 요술이야기의 유형이거나 의인화된 이야기 인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 한국 전래동화 50편의 Kohlberg의 도덕발달단계 기준에 따른 분석은 2단계와 3단계의 전래동화가 각각 34%, 1단계의 동화가 26%, 4단계는 4%, 5단계의 전래동화는 2%인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 50편의 한국 전래동화의 주제별 분포를 다중체크한 결과는 허욕(탐심은 금물)이 14편, 인과응보ㆍ권선징악이 12편, 인간존중ㆍ생명존중이 10편, 지혜와 슬기가 9편, 성실ㆍ근면이 6편인 것으로 나타났다. 이와 함께 자연물의 유래가 5편, 형제간의 우애와 정직과 관련된 주제가 각각 3편씩임이 밝혀졌다. 또한 효도, 협동의 항목이 각각 2편, 친구간의 우정과 인내 ㆍ끈기의 항목이 각각 1편씩인 것으로 나타났다. 전래동화에 내포되어 있는 사회적 가치의 내용에 따른 범주는 한국 전래동화 50편 중 다중 체크되어 약속지키기의 항목이 나타난 것이 16편, 서로돕기 13편, 자신과 타인의 소유를 구분하기가 12편인 것으로 나타났고, 거짓말하지 않기와 사이좋게 지내기의 항목이 각각 10편씩인 것으로 나타났다. 공평하기와 나누기는 각각 7편, 남의 입장 이해하기는 5편, 예절은 5편, 효도 4편, 나라사랑하기와 위로하기의 항목이 각각 2편인 것으로 나타났으며, 마지막으로 질서와 규칙지키기의 항목은 1편인 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 한국 전래동화에 나타난 갈등상황의 내용은 주인공이 위기를 모면하기 위해서 거짓말을 하는 것과, 진실을 말해야 하는 것과의 도덕적인 갈등의 문제와 부자가 되기 위해서 속임수를 사용하는 것의 문제로 함축된다. 유치원 어린이들이 가장 선호하는 10편의 한국 전래동화 중에서 금도끼 은도끼, 호랑이와 곶감 2편을 제외한 8편의 전래동화가 도덕적 갈등상황을 내포하고 있었다.
