유아용 그림책에 나타난 성역할 고정관념

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 그림책에서 남성과 여성에 대한 묘사가 어떻게 이루어지는지를 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구의 목적을 위해 다음과 같은 내용을 조사하였다. 1. 그림책에 등장하는 인물의 성별 분포는 어떠한가? 2. 그림책에 등장하는 주인공의 성별 분포는 어떠한가? 3. 그림책의 장르에 따라 주인공의 성별 분포는 어떠한 차이가 나는가? 4. 그림책에 등장하는 성인들의 직업은 성별로 어떻게 차이가 나는가? 5. 그림책에 등장하는 성인과 아동들의 활동은 성별로 어떤 차이를 보이는가? 6. 그림책에 등장하는 주인공들의 활동 장소는 성별로 어떤 차이를 보이는가? 본 연구의 분석 대상은 1990년부터 1998년 현재까지 출판된 도서 가운데 한국 사람이 쓰고 그린 책 205권을 대상으로 하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책에 등장하는 인물 가운데 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 성은 중성이고 그 다음은 남성, 여성 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 주인공의 성 가운데 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 성은 남성이고 그 다음은 중성, 여성 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 그림책의 장르 가운데 남자 주인공과 여자 주인공의 등장 비율이 가장 큰 장르는 지식정보책이고 그 다음은 전래동화, 창작동화로 나타났다. 넷째, 그림책에 등장하는 성인 등장인물의 직업은 남자는 32종, 여자는 10종으로 남자가 여자에 비해 훨씬 다양한 직업에 종사하는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 그림책에 등장하는 남자 성인은 주로 직업 활동을 많이 하고 여자 성인은 가정 활동을 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 아동의 경우 남자 아동, 여자 아동 모두 야외·자연 활동을 가장 많이 하는 것으로 나타났고 여자 아동이 남자 아동보다 많이 하는 활동은 집안일 돕기이다. 여섯째, 그림책에 등장하는 주인공들의 활동 장소를 실내와 실외로 나누어 보았을 때, 남자들에 비해 여자들이 실내에서 활동하는 경우가 훨씬 많게 나타났다. 이상과 같은 결과를 볼 때, 1990년대 한국 그림책에 나타나는 성역할은 여성에게 매우 불평등하다고 결론 내릴 수 있다.;The purpose of this study is to examine sex-role stereotypes in picture books. The picture books are written and pictured by Korean and published between 1990-1998. All books are 205. The following questions are examined： 1. How is the propotion of male to female in characters of picture books? 2. How is the propotion of male to female in heroes of picture books? 3. How different is the propotion of male to female according to genre of picture books? 4. How different is the job of adults according to sex? 5. How different is the act of adults and children according to sex in picture books? 6. How different is the act place of adults and children according to sex in picture books? The results of this examination are as following： First, neuter were the most often represented in texts and pictures, second male, third female. Second, female were the most often represented in central characters, second, and third female. Third, the genre marking the biggest difference of male and female is the information book, second the folklore story, and third modern story. Forth, man has 32 kind of jobs in picture books, and woman has only 10. Fifth, most man did his job and most women housekeeping. Both girls and boys most often play outside. Girls than boys more often help housekeeping. Sixth, when the acting place of central characters is classified into inside and outside, the female than the male act more often inside. In conclusion, the sex-roles in Korean picture books in 1990's is very adjust to the female.
