제7차 교육과정 『한국근·현대사』교과서의 세계사 내용 강화 수업 방안

Abstract

전근대사의 경우 주로 동아시아의 역사 변화가 한국사와 밀접한 관련을 가진다면, 근현대에서는 전 세계적 상황이 한국사의 전개에 커다란 영향을 미쳤다. 한국근현대사는 세계사와 밀접한 관련을 맺으며 진행되어 왔기 때문에, 한국근현대사를 제대로 이해하기 위해서는 세계사에 대한 이해가 병행되어야 한다. 그런데 현재 한국근현대사 교과서를 살펴보면 세계사 내용은 매우 간략하고 한국사 위주로 서술되어 있어서 우리의 근현대사를 이해하는 데에 어려움이 따른다. 단원구성 면에서도 한국사와 세계사를 분리해서 배치해 놓았기 때문에 유기적인 이해를 하기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 한국근현대사 학습의 효과를 높이기 위해서는 한국근현대사 교과서의 세계사 내용을 강화하여 서술할 필요가 있고 단원구성도 새롭게 할 필요가 있다. 이러한 문제의식에 근거하여 한국근현대사를 학습하는 학생들의 이해를 돕기 위하여 한국근현대사에 세계사 내용을 강화하는 수업방안을 마련하고자 하는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. 현대사회의 발전 단원 중에서 ‘베트남 참전으로 보는 박정희 정권시기(1964-1973)’를 학습 주제로 선정하였다. 세계사와 관련 있는 한국근현대사는 많지만 그 중에서 한국근현대사 교과서의 세계사 내용이 가장 부족하다고 판단되는 것을 선정하고자 하였다. 7차 교육과정 한국근현대사의 목표를 기준으로 하여 한국근현대사 교과서 해당 부분을 분석하고 교과서 서술의 문제가 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 한국군의 베트남 참전과 관련한 한국근현대사 교과서 내용은 주로 한미동맹과 경제성장에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 우리 역사를 세계사적 관점에서 객관적으로 이해하고 해석하는 것을 목표로 하는 한국근현대사 학습과는 거리가 있다. 세계사적 이해와 관련하여 미비점이 무엇인지 분석해보니 문제점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국사 중심으로 서술되어 있어서 세계사적 보편성과 관련하여 이해하기 어렵다. 둘째, 세계사 서술이 부족하여 세계사적 관점에서 비교 평가할 수 있는 능력을 기르기 어렵다. 셋째, 한국사의 긍정적인 면만 주로 서술하다보니, 우리 근현대사의 흐름을 객관적으로 해석하기 힘들다. 교과서 서술의 문제점을 분석과 동시에, ‘한국의 베트남 참전’과 관련된 학계의 연구 성과를 검토하였다. 선행연구를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1960년대 당시에 우리는 베트남 참전에 대해 공산주의 집단에 대한 자유주의 국가의 무력투쟁, 혹은 베트남의 통일을 위한 민족해방전쟁으로 인식했다. 둘째, 파병 결정요인에 대해서는 이견이 존재하고 있다. 안보론·동맹론, 능동적 실리론으로 나뉜다. 셋째, 한국군의 베트남 참전으로 인한 결과 한국의 경제성장이 이루어졌다고 보는 연구가 가장 많이 이루어졌다. 정치·외교·사회적인 분야까지 포함한 전반적인 평가도 연구되고 있다. 넷째, 최근 베트남 참전과 관련하여 비중 있게 연구되고 있는 주제는 한국군의 민간인 학살이다. 한국근현대사 수업에 필요한 세계사 내용 중 교과서에서 누락된 내용이 무엇인지를 찾아 제시하였다. 학계의 연구 성과에서 수업에 필요한 적절한 내용과 자료를 선별하였다. 이것을 바탕으로 단원을 재구성하고 수업 주제를 정한다. 세계사와 한국사 단원 구분을 하는 현행 교과서와는 달리 하나의 단원 속에 한국사와 세계사를 유기적으로 연계하는 방식을 취하였다. 학계의 연구를 바탕으로 강화해야 할 세계사 내용을 선정한 후 수업 자료를 만들고 교수·학습 지도안을 작성하여 수업을 실시하였다. 여러 관점이 존재하는 부분은 각각의 관점을 반영하는 자료를 제시하였다. 현행 교과서대로 수업했을 때와 비교하여 수업 방안의 효율성을 검증하였다. 학생들에게 설문조사를 실시하여 지식·이해, 기능·탐구, 가치·태도 면에서 변화가 생긴 점을 분석하였다. 동료 역사교사에게는 학습지도안과 수업자료를 제시하고 평가 및 조언을 구하였다. 교사와 학생 모두 한국근현대사에 세계사가 강화되어야 한다는 필요성에 대해서 공감하였으며, 기존 교과서로 수업할 때보다 세계사를 강화하여 수업을 할 때 학생들의 ‘베트남 참전과 박정희 정권시기’의 이해도가 높아졌다는 평가가 많았다. 우리의 역사에 대한 자긍심을 바탕으로 근현대사에 나타난 특성을 세계사적 보편성과 관련하여 이해하고 우리 근현대사의 흐름을 객관적으로 해석하고 이를 세계사적 관점에서 비교 평가할 수 있는 능력을 기르기 위해서는, 한국사와 관련 있는 세계사 내용을 함께 학습할 수 있는 다양한 수업 사례가 연구되어야 하겠다.;The Korean Modern History has been developed in close relation to the world history. The purpose of for is to understand and analyze our history objectively with a world-historical point of view. However, the existing descriptions of textbook is prescribed focusing only to the Korean History; so, it has the following problems. First, the description focusing Korean history makes it difficult to understand in relation to the universality of world history. Second, the insufficiency of description of world history makes it difficult to develop our abilities for comparative evaluation with a world-historical point of view. Third, too much description of positive aspect of Korean history makes it difficult to understand the current of Korean modern history objectively. The purpose of this investigation is to prepare and establish the teaching manual reinforcing the world history in Korean modern history so that the above-mentioned problems can be complemented and the student can be helped to understand the korean modern history. First of all, we have selected the "Park Jeong-Hee Administration seeing the participation in Vietnam War (1964~1973)" as a subject for class about the development of modern society. Among lots of historical events related to the world history prescribed in our textbook for students, we have selected the event whose contents most irrelevant to world history. According to the target of our research for the 7th amended curriculum, we have analyzed the corresponding sections of textbook and surveyed the problems hereto. The Korean modern history related to the participation of Vietnam War has been prescribed mainly focusing to the Korean economical development in a textbook. We have reviewed the results of researches on "Korean participation of Vietnam War" done by the relevant academical circles; we have searched and presented what is necessary for a class of Korean modern history but omitted from a textbook by classifying and analyzing the preceding researches. The contents to be complemented are as follows: the political situation of East Asia at 1960s, the America's policy for East Asia, the characteristics of Vietnam War in the international interests, the position of the third world, the main reasons of dispatch of Korean forces to Vietnam, the impact of war participation (discontinuation of democracy with the nonaligned nations), the problems remained by Vietnam War and etc.; we have prepared the data and reinforced the contents of world history for class. Hereupon, we have prepared the teaching manual and instruction and implemented the class hereof, adopting the organic mechanism connecting the Korean history and the world history in one text to the exclusion of the present textbook dividing them. For the text where multiple points of view are able to be applied, we have presented the data reflecting each of them. We have compared the classes using our alternative teaching manual with the existing textbook and verified the efficiency of our manual. The class reinforcing the world history rather than class using the existing textbook makes the students understand the world-historical universality on the "Participation of Korean Forces to Vietnam War", fulfill the comparative evaluation on a world-historical point of view and increase their ability to understand our modern history objectively.
