양성평등교육의 관점에서 본 중학교 음악 교과서

Abstract

최근 들어 우리 삶의 곳곳에 잠재되어 있는 성 의식에 대해 재고해보고 성 평등한 사회를 이루기 위한 방안 중의 하나로 양성평등교육이 강조되고 있다. 교육인적자원부에서는 양성평등교육을 위한 연수용 책자를 제작하여 교육함으로써 그 중요성을 알리고 있다. 양성평등교육이란, 남녀 모두에게 잠재되어 있는 특성을 충분히 발현하여 자신의 자유의지로 삶을 계획하고 세상을 볼 수 있도록 촉진하는 교육을 말한다. 이러한 교육을 실현하기 위해 교육인적자원부에서는 교과서와 교사의 역할을 강조하고 있다. 특히 교과서는 교육과정을 대변하는 중요한 교육 자료이기에 그 역할이 더욱 강조된다. 이의 파급효과를 생각해 볼 때, 교과서는 양성 평등한 입장에서 제작되어야 하며, 남녀학생 모두에게 적절한 역할모델을 제시하고 건강한 성 정체감을 형성할 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다. 우리의 중 · 고등학교 교과서를 살펴보면, 서양 음악사에서 여성 작곡가가 거의 등장하지 않는다. 학생들은 아예 여성 작곡가의 존재를 인식하지 못하고 있으며 여성은 훌륭한 작곡가가 될 수 없으리라는 잠재의식을 가지게 된다. 음악교과라고 해서 반드시 남성들이 뛰어난 재능을 발휘하도록 특징지어진 학문은 아니기 때문이다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 논문은 현 중학교 음악 교과서를 중심으로 서양음악사에서 작곡가의 남녀 성비를 분석하고, 더 나아가 교재편찬위원회의 남녀 성비를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 9종의 교과서 총 27권 중에서 여성작곡가는 성안당 8학년 교과서에 클라라 슈만(Clara Schumann)이, 태성 9학년 교과서에 클라라와 허방자가 등장하며, 지학사에 등장하는 클라라는 로버트 슈만(Robert Schumann)의 연인으로 소개되는데 그쳤다. 나머지 출판사에서는 여성 작곡가가 단 한 명도 등장하지 않음을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이는 서양음악사에서 남성이 절대적인 우위를 차지하고 있음을 여실히 보여준다. 또한, 교재편찬위원회의 남녀 성비를 분석한 결과, 이 역시 남성이 우위를 차지하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 남성이 총 26명 중 17명으로 약 65%를 차지했으며, 여성은 9명으로 약 25%를 차지했다. 반드시 성별이 여성이어야 한다는 것은 아니다. 남성일지라도 양성평등의 관점과 건강한 성 정체성을 가진 사람이어야 할 것이다. 마지막으로 4장 대표적인 여성 작곡가에서는 여성 작곡가들의 음악 활동과 작품을 소개하였다. 앞으로의 교과과정에 이를 적극적으로 반영하기를 기대하는 바이다.;Recently gender equality promotion and education has been accentuated as one of may schemes to eliminate gender discrimination rooted everywhere in our lives and attain a sexually impartial society. The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development communicates its importance by producing and educating training books for gender equality promotion and education. Gender equality promotion and education is an education that promotes male and female individuals to sufficiently manifest their latent characteristics and plan out life and view the world out of free will. In order to actualize this education, The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development emphasizes the importance of the textbook and teacher's role. The role of the textbook is given particular importance because it is cardinal educational data that represents the education process. Thinking of its ripple effect, the textbook should be produced in a sexually equal standpoint, provide an adequate role model for both male and female students, and help build a healthy gender identity. Looking into our textbooks in this point of view, female composers rarely appear in the history of Western music. Students do not recognize the existence of a female composer from the outset and develop a subconsciousness that females cannot become respectable composers. Music course is not a study characterized as advantageous necessarily for men to exhibit their distinguished talents. It is merely dressed with a background of an androcentric society and has been seen in that way. In this context, this paper analyzes the sex ratio of male and female composers in the field of Western music history in existing middle school music textbooks, and further analyzes the male and female sex ratio in the Textbook Compilation Committee. As a result, out of 9 types of textbooks in a total of 27 books, there is female composer who is Clara Schumann in 8th grade Sung An Dang textbook, and Clara Schumann, Bang-Ja Huh in the 9th grade Tae Sung textbook, and in a Ji Haksa textbook Clara Schuman is introduced as Robert Schumann's lover and holds no special meaning. The remaining publishing companies do not deal with any female composers at all. This vividly shows us that men possess absolute superiority in the field of Western music. Also, as a result of analyzing the sex ratio in the Textbook Compilation Committee, men were found to be occupying superiority as expected. There were 17 men out of 26 people which round up to a 65%, and 9 were female that took up 35%. It does not mean that the gender has to be female. Though it might be male, one should be someone who possesses a healthy sexual identity free from male chauvinism. Finally, there is an introduction of the musical activities of female composers following the textbook analysis. Anticipation remains for an active reconsideration of this in the later curriculum.
