미국 BSCS 제4판의 분석적 연구

Abstract

In order to obtain the ideal biology curriculum for Korean high school biology education, an analytical study on the 4th editions of the BSCS textbooks in American High Schools were done and the comparison of BSCS with Korean high school biology textbooks and English Nuffield biology were also carried out. As a result, the followings were found: 1. The themes of the 4th edition of Yellow version covers mainly 'structure and function' and 'genetic continuity' and the levels, 'individual' and 'tissue and organ'. 2. In the 4th edition of Blue version, the themes are stressed on mainly 'genetic continuity' and the levels, 'individual' and 'tissue and organ', exihibiting molecular biology trend. 3. In the 4th edition of Green version, the themes are stressed mainly on 'organism and environment' and levels, 'community' and 'individual', stressing ecological aspect. 4. The levels of the 'tissue and organ' and 'individual' are emphasized in the 4th editions than the older editions of BSCS so that the weakness of the BSCS textbooks were reinforced. 5. The Korean high school biology textbooks concentrate on 'structure and function' in the themes and 'individual' and 'tissue and organ' in the levels, implying that Korean high school biology textbooks exhibit a part of the mordern biological feature but they do not show any inquiry scientific trend in method of scionce education which is the unique trend of BSCS. 6. In the second editions of Nuffield Biology, the theme covers 'structure and function' and 'tissue and organ', implying that it is closer to the coventional textbook but shows the biology as an inquiry science. 7. It is desirable to make reference an aspect of mordern biology of the 4th editions of BSCS Yellow version and an aspect of an inquiry science of Nuffield Biology for the improvement of the ideal biology education curriculum in Korean high school.;우리나라 생물교육개선을 위한 한 과정으로 미국의 BSCS 황, 청, 녹 3개판의 제 4판을 중심으로 그 내용을 구판(1, 2, 3판)과 조사·비교하고, 한국고등학교 생물교과서 및 Nuffield Biology와 상호비교한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 황판 제 4판은 주제로 구조와 기능 및 유전적 연속성에 중점을 두었으며 수준으로 개체, 조직·기관을 강조하고 있다. 2. 청판 제 4판은 유전적연속성, 진화가 주제로 강조되었으며, 수준은 개체, 조직·기관, 분자의 순서로 되어 있어 분자생물학분야가 강조되는 특징에는 변함이 없다. 3. 녹판 제 4판은 주제가 생물과 환경, 수준은 군집, 개체가 강조되어 있어서 가장 생태적인 면을 강조하고 있는 특색은 여전하다. 4. BSCS 제 4판은 구판 (1,2,3판 )에 비해 3개판 모두 조직·기관, 개체의 강조도가 높아졌으며, 구판의 약한 점을 보강하고 있다. 5. 국내교과서는 구조와 기능을 주제로 개체, 조직·기관의 수준으로 다루어졌으며, 현대생물학적 일면을 지니고 있지만 탐구하는 과학의 면모는 뚜렷하지 못하다. 6. Nuffield Biology재판은 주제를 구조와 기능에 두고 수준을 조직·기관에 두면서, 탐구하는 과학으로서의 생물학의 모습을 뚜렷이 보이고 있다. 7. 우리나라 생물교육과정의 개선을 위하여 BSCS 제 4판 황판의 현대생물학적 면과 Nuffield Biology의 탐구하는 과학으로서의 측면을 참고로 함이 바람직하다.
