地理學習에 있어서의 環境敎育 硏究

Abstract

人類社會의 發達에 따라 날로 심해가는 環境問題는 오늘날 先進工業國들 뿐만 아니라 우리 人類가 모두 함께 解決해야 할 深刻한 問題中 하나이다. 그리하여 環境에 대한 認識을 높이고 이 問題를 解決할 수 있는 敎育의 必要性이 크게 擡頭되게 되었다. 本 硏究는 우리나라의 當面한 環境問題를 把握하여 이것을 解決하는데 있어 地理學習이 어떻게 環境敎育에 연관성을 갖고 있으며, 그 實態를 把握하기 위한 目的으로 現在 初, 中, 高 社會科 또는 地理 敎科書의 環境單元의 內容과 比重을 比較 硏究하였다. 그 외에 環境敎育에 관한 報告書와 유네스코에서 發行되는 기타 문헌에 强調되고 있는 環境敎育의 內容을 抽出하였다. 그리고 學生들에게 補充學習資料로 提供되어 지는 日刊新聞을 토대로 우리나라 環境問題의 實態를 把握하기 위하여, 1981~1985년 사이의 5개년간 가장 大衆的인 新聞中에 1개 新聞을 對象으로 環境問題와 關聯된 紀事를 抽出하여 分析하였다. 또한 本 硏究의 目的을 達成하기 위하여, 中學校 1學年 學生들을 對象으로 環境問題에 대한 關心과 意識에 관한 設問調査를 실시하였다. 以上의 分析結果를 보면 다음과 같이 要約된다. 첫째로, 新聞 分析 結果 環境問題와 관련된 기사 중 環境汚染의 原因과 관련된 기사가 64%, 自然淨化 및 自然保存과 관련된 기사가 36%를 차지하여 주로 環境汚染의 原因쪽의 기사가 많이 쓰여졌음을 알 수 있다. 특히 環境汚染 中 大氣汚染이 19.9%로 가장 많은 順位였으며 具體的인 環境敎育과 관련된 기사는 3건으로 0.8%에 불과했다. 大衆弘報媒體이며 地理學習 補助資料로서의 新聞이 좀 더 環境敎育쪽에 關心을 갖도록 하는 기사의 作成이 要求된다. 둘째로, 初, 中等 社會敎科書에서는 人間과 自然環境에 관한 內容이 많이 다루어지고 있으며, 국민학교 3學年에서 環境對策에 관한 內容이 29% 차지하고 있는데 실질적인 地理槪念의 學習이 시작되는 국민학교 3學年과정에서 많이 다루어 지고 있음에 意味가 있다고 생각된다. 中學校 社會科 內容에서는 自然環境과 生活이 비교적 많이 取扱되고 있으나 社會 2에서는 資源, 産業, 人口, 工業化 등에는 많은 比重을 둔데 비하여 地域開題과 環境保全에 관해서는 불과 2.3% 정도로 紙面을 할애하고 있어 이는 環境問題의 深刻性에 비추어 다소 補完이 必要하다고 思料된다. 高等學校 地理Ⅰ의 경우 工業, 都市化, 交通 등에 많은 紙面을 할애하고 있고, 지리Ⅱ의 경우 敎科書간에 다소 차이가 있어 環境單元의 比率이 "L" 敎科書는 43.6%인데 비하여 "O" 敎科書는 56.8%로 나타나고 있고, 地域開題과 環境保全에 관한 內容은 "M" 敎科書가 3.2%, "O" 敎科書가 10.2%로 역시 차이가 나타나고 있는데 環境問題에 관심을 갖도록 다른 敎科書 "O" 敎科書와 같은 比重의 紙面 할애가 必要하리라 생각된다. 셋째로 環境汚染 環境保全 環境敎育과 관련된 設問 調査 結果, 대체로 긍정적인 반응을 보이고 있으나 "자기집에서도 環境汚染의 原因을 만들고 있는가?" "環境保全을 위해 家族끼리 많은 대화를 나누는가?" 라는 設問에 대한 답변들은 否定的인데 이는 環境問題의 해결방법이 家庭에서는 신중하게 論議되고 있지 않고 學校敎育에만 依存하고 있다고 생각된다. 또 "環境汚染이 나타난 현장을 學校에서 실지로 見學한 적이 있는가?" "環境敎育을 敎科時間에 視聽覺 敎材를 通하여 배우고 있는가?" 라는 設問의 應答 結果 否定的인 반응을 나타냄으로 우리 敎育 여건이 環境汚染 實態를 직접 見學시킬 수 있는 상태임을 알 수 있고, 앞으로 敎科時間中이라도 생생한 視聽覺 敎材를 通한 效果的인 環境敎育이 이루어져야 함을 절실히 느끼게 하는 應答 結果로 본다. 以上과 같은 結果로 地理敎科書에 環境敎育 內容 중 環境問題 解決을 위한 좀 더 적극적인 環境對策에 관한 內容이 補完되어야 겠으며 獨立敎科로서 環境敎育의 單元構成 및 內容에 대한 꾸준한 硏究가 必要하다고 思料된다.;This study is a research on the relation of geographic study and the environment education, in order to solve the environment problems which our country is faced with, through the method such as following ; The one is comparing and studying the contents and importance of the society and geography subject in the present elementary, middle and high school. The other is drawing the contents of environment education, from the reports about it and the materials which are published in UNESCO etc. And, the articles about environment problems are drown and analized from the one of the most popular newspapers that are published during 1981-1985, in order to understand the states the states of the environment problems in our country through the dairly newspapers provided as the assistant study resources to students. Also, achieving the purpose of this study, the enquete about the consciousness and concern of environment problem is done to the freshmen of the middle school. The above analysis results are as follows ; The first, it is found out that the articles of environment pollution causes are written more than these of the conservation and purification of nature-the former is 64%, the later is 36%-in newspapers. Especially, the ari pollution is serious as 19.9%, the articles involved with the concrete environment education are only three as 0.8%. Therefore, the newspapers as the mass-media and the assistant resource of geography is demanded to make us be concerned further with the environment education. The second, the geographic texts of the elementary and middle school deal with human and nature environment. In the case of elementary school, it has a significance that the contents on the countermeasure of environment is 29% in the texts of a third year, and that it is dealt with very much at that period, when the students start to study on concept of geography. In the case of middle school, the nature environment and life are dealt with very comparetively. But in the society Ⅱ texts, the contents on the region development and environment conservation are only2.3%, compared with a large parts of resources, industry, population and industrialization. Reflecting the seriousness of environment problem, this need some supplement. In the case of high school, the geography I texts deal with industry, urbumizing and traffic etc. But the geography Ⅱ texts have differences between each text ; the percent of environment subject is 56.8% at '0' text, compared with 43.6% at 'L' text. The contents of region development and environment conservation is 32% at 'M' text, compared with 10.2% at '0' text The other texts need the percents which are similar to '0' text, in order to have concern about the environment problems. The third, the results of enguete about environment pollution, conservation and education are positive reactions on the whole. But two questions obtain the negative reaction; 'Do you make the cause of environment polution in your home?' ' Do you talk about environment conservation with your family? ' The answers reflected that the method of solving environment problems is not seriously discussed at home and depends only on school education ; ' Also, two questions obtain the negative reaction. 'Have you ever gone to the spot of environment pollution with teachers and classmates?' 'Do you having a environment education with audio-visual materials in school?' The answers find out that the inspection for the state of environment pollution is impossible under our education conditions. Also, these find out that the effective environment education must be done with the live audio-visual materials in the course of study. Conclusively, the contents about more positive environment countermeasure have to be supplied in geographic texts. And the constant study is demanded about the unit formation ard contents of environment education as independant subject.
