Tanglowood symposium이 提示한 美國 音樂 敎育의 問題에 對한 考察

Abstract

現代 産業社會의 急激한 變化는 芸術敎育에 커다란 問題를 提起시키고 있으며, 따라서 社會의 急激한 變化에 對處하기 爲한 芸術敎育 特히 音樂敎育이 對한 敎育者들의 深刻한 熟考가 要請되어 졌다. 새로운 音樂이나 방대해진 音樂획 量, 그리고 音樂의 여러 形態에 따른 多樣化된 音樂的 嗜好 속에서 보다 效果的이고 進就的인, 그리고 未來 指向的인 音樂敎育의 方向 設定을 爲한 可能性의 探索이 要求됨에 따라 開催된 것이 Tanglewood Symposium이었던 것이다. Tanglewood Symposium은 1967年 7月 23日부터 8月 2日까지 보스턴 심포니 오케스트라의 여름 宿所인 美國 매사추세츠주 Tanglewood에서 美國의 各界 指導者 50여명이 모여 美國 社會에서의 音樂에 對해 論義했다. 本 論文은 이 심포지움에서 討論된 主要議題에 그 바탕을 두었으며 내용을 크게 3部分으로 나누어 보았다. 첫째, 現代의 變化에 뒤떨어지지 않는 바람직한 音樂敎育의 實施를 爲해 音樂敎育의 基本的 假定들을 再評價하는 問題 둘째, 社會全般에 걸쳐서 影響을 미치고 있는 音樂活動에 大衆들이 보다 않은 關心을 가질 수 있도록 하는 方案을 摸索하는 問題 셋째, 보다 效果的인 音樂敎育의 手段과 方法을 講究하여 音樂敎育에 새로운 次元을 摸索하는 問題 이러한 Tanglewood Symposium에서 提起된 여러가지 音樂敎育에 있어서의 問題點들은 漸次 高度 先進 産業社會를 指向해 가는 韓國에 있어서 언젠가는 그것들이 모두 우리들의 現實的인 問題로 나타날 可能性이 있다고 보여짐에 따라 Tanglewood Symposium에 關한 本 論文은 末來 韓國 音樂敎育의 바람직한 새로운 座標設定에 조그만 보탬이 되리라 생각한다.;Rapid and sudden changes in modern industrial societies give rise to serious problems in art education, so it has become urgent for many educators to carefully consider art education, especially, music education in order to cope with such radical social changes. Now that new types and vast quantities of music are stimulating a variety of musical tastes, the Tanglewood Symposium was held to probe some Possibility for the effective, progressive and future-oriented direction of musiceducation, About 50 eminent leaders from various circles eagerly discussed music in the American society at the Tangle-wood, Mass., U.S.A., where the Boston Symphony Orchestra performs every summer. This study, based upon important issues crystallized by the symposium, is divide into three parts. first, it concentrates on reevaluating the fundamental hypotheses of music education in order to put into practice desirable music education responsive to modern changes. Second, it presents certain measures for attracting the attention of the general public to musical activities which have a great and extensive influence on social lives. Third, it makes an attempt to find a new dimension in music education by adopting stll more effective means and methods. Problems in music education such as those posed by the Tanglewood Symposium will also confront us someday as Korea keeps on developing toward the Level of the highly developed countries. In this connection this thesis might be mere or less helpful in that ie presents new and proper coordinates for the music education Korea will pursue in the future.
