Abstract
This study is designed to examine the actural state of today's education and find out its problems by grasping the current situation of music education in the school. And the goal of this study is helping to point out the desirable direction for the future revision of curriculum by checking how the 6th revised music curriculum from 1995 is applied to Junior High school education. To grasp the present situation of Junior High school music education concerning the management of the 6th revised music curriculum, I studied the general concept of curriculum and the meaning of music curriculum as a theoretical background, and also examined the overall composition system of the 6th revised curriculum. Also, I studied the precedent thesis on the present situation of music education to specifically systemize the necessity of this study. To grasp the managing situation of the 6th revised curriculum, questionnaire papers for teachers were distributed to one music teacher in each middle school randomly selected for this study. There has been six revisions of our curriculum since the first curriculum revision in 1955, through change and development The contents of the questionnaires are the general characteristics of subject, the understanding of the 6th revised curriculum and lesson method, the present situation of evaluating actual skill, and I could get the results from it as follows First, most schools had reduced music class hours by the authority of each school's arranging weekly class right for the 2nd and 3rd graders, and class hours for class activities are very short Second, most teachers understand the contents of the 6th curriculum, but 7.5% of them answers that they have no idea on it even after 3 years have passed, and they are said to feel overturned by their work Third, it is turned out that music rooms are insufficient, and there are not enough school facilities for texts and instruments needed for leaning activity. More specially, the whole class can't have a class in music room because schools having 30-40 classes only have one music room, and reserving the musical instruments rate is also low, especially, traditional instruments such as GayaKum, Jing, and Drum, are none in many schools Fourth, ideal class recommended by the curriculum is an integrated method including vocalism, instrumental music, composition and appreciation, but in real class, still vocalism learning is carried as a main method, and the composition area is hardly treated Fifth, departments related to music lean to chorus or appreciation in managing special activities, and only a few schools run GayaKum, ensemble(l.3%), Agricultural music(l.3%), and Danso ensemble(5.0%), so special activities related to traditional music is very insufficient. Therefore, the various arrangement of special activity departments are needed. Sixth, many teachers had opposite opinions on the basic 70% score in actual practice evaluation. On the basic score System, 81.2% respondents answer it's not desirable, and the 92.3% of them claim to abolish the system Also, the claim to abolish the system, also, the actual practice evaluation types of each area are standardized, and it is urgent to make objective evaluation plans because each teacher has different evaluation points.
