유치원의 종일제 운영에 대한 원장과 교사의 인식에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine principals and teachers' perceptions and needs of the full-day program in kindergarten. This study examined principals and teachers' needs using survey techniques. The questionnaires items were constructed to reflect information secured from materials in the review of the literature. Questionnaires were distributed to 537 educators of kindergartens, of whom 206 were principals and 331 teachers working for Public or private kindergartens. Each of the questions put to them was analyzed by percentage and chi-square test. The findings are as follows: 1. Most(71.1%) of the principals and teachers recognize that the full-day programs is needed, especially when children's parents work out of home. 2. The educators suggest that if the full-day program is adopted in the kindergarten in which the half-day program has been operated, the existing curriculum for half-day program should be taken, to which a certain curriculum thought to be new and appropriate must be added up. 3. They have opinion that a close and systematic relationship is demanded for the children's heal th condition check-up. 4. When the full-day program is planned, the class organization can be done in dual way: the respective class work is done in the morning as it is for the half-day program, and if there are children who want to stay further in the afternoon, one or two classes can be organized: regarding to classifying children into groups, those principals and teachers show almost the same support to both groups-the same age group and the mixed age group. 5. Both the principals and the teachers agree that it is desirable that the children for the full-day program are to be over three in age, and two respective teams of teachers, one teacher and one teaching assistant for each, have to administer the class respectively in the morning and in the afternoon, giving their special attention for their children's safety from any possible danger. And in case the half-day program is transfered the full-day one, most of teachers-principals and teachers-are required to take a retraining on the teaching method and the retraining is also to be centric on how to operate the full-day program. 6. They recognized that the most desirable time for the children to attend school is sometime between nine o'clock and nine thirty in the morning for kindergartens of the full-day program and sometime between five and six in the afternoon for school dismissal. 7. For transference from the half-day program to the full-day one, it is needed to establish a certain of new facilities and equippments. 8. They suggest that the educational expense for the full-day program must be paid in share by both the government and the parents, without regard with parents' economic status. Most of teachers insist that any kindergarten has to be allowed to adopt the full-day program, if in need: however, some of them also present their opinion that the full-day program should be attempted at one kindergarten in each area under the close cooperation of public and private kindergartens.;본 연구의 목적은 유치원의 종일제 프로그램 운영에 대한 원장과 교사의 인식은 어떠한지 알아보며, 또한 원장과 교사간에 인식의 차이가 있는지를 조사하기 위한 것으로서, 구체적인 연구문제는 다음과 같다. Ⅲ-1. 종일제 유치원의 시설에 대한 원장과 교사의 인식 Ⅲ-2. 종일제 유치원의 재정에 관한 원장과 교사의 인식 본 연구의 대상은 서울시 9개 교육청 관내에 있는 360개 사립유치원(각 교육청별 40개 유치원을 확률적 표집 중 층화 표집(systematic sampling)) 원장과 교사 각 1명씩과 서울시에 소재한 공립 국민학교 병설 24개 유치원의 교사 54명을 대상으로 하여, 총 537명이었다. 본 연구결과의 자료분석은 각 항목별로 빈도와 백분율을 산출하였고, 원장과 교사간의 인식차의 유의도를 구하기 위해서는 각 문항에 대해서 X^(2) 검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과를 종일제 유치원의 필요성, 교육과정의 운영, 시설 및 재정의 세가지 측면으로 나누어 제시하면 다음과 같다. 1. 유치원에서의 종일반 운영의 필요성에 대해서 대다수(71.1%)의 원장과 교사들이 종일제 유치원의 필요성을 인식하고 있었다. 종일제 유치원이 필요한 이유로서는 대부분 부모의 취업에 따른 요구의 증가를 지적하였다. 종일제 유치원의 불필요성을 지적한 경우는 대부분 아동이 장시간을 집밖에서 지내게 됨으로 인해 심리적·육체적으로 손상을 입게 될 것을 우려하기 때문이었다. 종일제 유치원의 교육과정의 운영에 대한 의견을 중심으로 살펴보면, 1. 반일제 프로그램을 운영해 오던 유치원에서 종일제 프로그램을 운영할 때, 기존의 반일제 교육내용을 적용하며 종일제 운영에 적합한 내용을 선정·조직하여 첨가한다는 의견을 가지고 있었다. 종일제 프로그램의 교육내용에서 가장 중요시해야 할 발달영역으로서는, 사회성·정서 발달영역을 가장 중시해야 한다고 인식하고 있었다. 또한 원장과 교사들은 종일제 프로그램에서 다루어야 할 세부적인 교육내용으로는 기본생활습관지도를 지적하며, 문자지도 등 국민학교 준비를 위한 학습은 경시하였다. 종일반에서의 특기지도에 대해서는 원장과 교사 모두 아동의 능력과 희망에 따라 하는 것이 좋다는 인식을 가지고 있었다. 2. 점심식사 준비에 대해서 원장과 교사는 유치원에서 밥만 준비하고, 반찬은 각자 준비하는 방법을 원하고 있었다. 건강프로그램에 대해서는 신체검사와 병원과의 체계적인 연락망 조직이 필요하다고 인식하고 있으며, 예방접종과 치아검사 실시의 필요성은 적다고 인식하고 있다. 3. 종일제 프로그램을 운영할 때, 학급편성의 방법으로 대부분 오전 수업은 각 반에서 하고, 오후에는 각 반에서 종일제를 원하는 아동을 대상으로 1-2개 반을 편성한다는 의견을 제시하였다. 또한 집단구성으로는 단일연령집단과 혼합연령집단에 대해 찬성하는 비율이 거의 같다. 4. 종일반 취원 아동의 연령으로는 원장과 교사 모두 만 3세 이상을 제안하였다. 학급당 원아수에 대해서는 원장과 교사의 대부분이 3세의 경우, 10명이내, 4세의 경우, 11-15명이내, 5세의 경우, 16-20명이내를 가장 바람직하다고 인식하고 있었다. 종일반 교사의 경력으로서 3-5년 미만을 제시한다. 종일반 교사의 구성에 대해, 교사 2명과 보조교사 2명이 각각 짝을 이루어 오전·오후를 담당해야 한다고 제시하였다. 종일반 교사의 가장 중요한 역할로는 아동의 신체적 안전과 보호를 지적하였다. 종일제 운영으로 전환하게 될 경우 원장과 교사의 대부분이 교사의 재교육이 필요하다고 인식하고 있으며, 재교육의 내용으로서는 대다수가 종일제 유치원 운영 방법을 지적하였다. 반면 부모교육방법에 대한 필요성은 상대적으로 경시하고 있었다. 5. 종일반의 등·하원 시간의 경우, 등원시간은 오전 9시에서 9시 30분, 하원시간은 오후 5시에서 6시까지가 바람직하다고 인식하였다. 종일제 유치원의 시설 및 재정에 대한 의견을 살펴보면, 1. 종일제 유치원의 시설의 경우, 반일제로 운영하던 유치원이 종일제 프로그램을 운영하게 되면, 기존의 시설을 신설 또는 개조하여야 할 필요가 있음을 느끼고 있었다. 낮잠자는 방 또는 낮잠을 위한 침구, 양호실 등의 종일반에 반드시 필요한 시설들을 대부분의 유치원에서 갖추지 않고 있으며, 신설 또는 개조해야 할 시설로도 대부분 낮잠자는 방과 간식 및 점심준비실을 지적하였다. 2. 종일제 유치원에 적합한 월교육비로서는 대체로 11-l5만원을 제시하며, 교육비는 가정의 경제적 능력에 따른 차등없이 학부모와 국가의 공동부담을 제의하였다. 또한 종일제 실시 유치원은 원하는 유치원에서 모두 실시해야 한다는 의견이 많았다. 그러나 교사의 경우, 공·사립 유치원이 협의하여 한 지역당 하나의 유치원에서 실시해야 한다는 의견이 많았다.
