中學校에서의 효과적인 鄕土史 學習指導에 관한 硏究

Abstract

This study has been studied for effective using of local history study materials in accordance with that the korean history part of the 6th Curriculum Social Studies emphasized on local history study through a new local history unit from 1995. The local history study has an effect on grading up historic consciousness such as student's historical thinking, problem solving and so on. However it is less utilized in practical teaching. Therefore the writer attempts to study that the problems of history study and the effect of local history study materials which is related to history study contents in practical teaching. First, the writer looked into the theoretical background for understanding the general character and meaning of local history and realized that local history study was the effective educational method to teach history study and realize the object of history education. And the problems on short period of history study, local history study materials and practical using methods were analysed through a questionnaire about local history study materials to history teacher in the middle school. The local history study unit for Seoul and the local history study methods through field education were suggested for practical teaching. Then the method were applied to practical teaching in the middle school. In conclusion, the teaching methods using local history study materials make effect on giving rise to interest in history study and understand for history. Therefore this study would be presented as an example for local history study. The further local history study for using study materials should be investigated through cooperative discussion of history educators, historians and teachers.;본 연구는 1995년부터 시행될 제6차 교육과정 사회과 국사영역이 새로이 향토사 내용을 단원으로 설정하여 향토사 학습을 강조하고 있는 점에 의거하여 향토사 자료가 실제 수업에 사용될 수 있도록 하기 위한 효과적인 활용방안에 대해 연구한 것이다. 향토사 학습은 역사교육의 목표인 학생들의 역사적 사고력, 문제해결력 등 역사의식의 수준을 높여주는데 효과가 있는 학습형태이나 현장에서 그 실천성을 이해하지 못해 아직까지 실제 수업에의 활용이 미약한 실정이므로, 현장 적용에 있어 문제점을 파악하고 그 개선 방안의 일환으로 국사영역 내용과 관련 된 향토사 단원을 설정하여 실제수업에 적용을 하여 그 효과를 알아보고자 한다. 먼저, 향토사에 해한 전반적 성격과 의미를 파악하기 위해 그 이론적 배경을 살펴보고 이를 통해 향토사 학습의 필요성과 그 교육적 기능을 밝혀내었다. 그리고 향토사 학습은 실질적이며 생동감있는 역사학습이 이루어지게 하고 역사 교육의 목표를 효과적으로 달성할 수 있게 하는 교육방법임을 확인하였다. 또한 현장에서의 향토사 자료활용의 실태를 교사를 대상으로 분석하여 수업 시간 부족, 향토사 자료부족, 실천적 활용방법의 부족 등의 문제점을 찾아내었다. 이를 바탕으로 하여 그 개선방안의 모색으로 실제 수업에 적용하기 위해 서울 지역을 중심으로 향토사 학습단원을 설정하고 현장학습을 통한 향토사 학습방법을 제안하였다. 이를 현장 교사들에게 제시하여 활용해 보도록 하고 학습후 그 결과와 이러한 향토사 자료활용에 대한 제안을 종합·정리하여 보면, 향토사 학습에 역사 학습에 흥미를 유발하고 역사에 대한 이해를 확대시키는데 효과가 있음도 확인하였다. 앞으로 이러한 제안 연구가 지역별 또는 학교별 교육과정에 향토사 학습을 위한 시범적 지도안이 제시되어야 할 것이며, 역사교육연구자·역사학자·교사들의 공동 협의아래 향토사 학습이 원활히 이루어지도록 향토사 학습자료 활용방안에 대한 끊임없는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
