청소년 통일의식 및 대북포용정책 연구

Abstract

남북정상회담 이후 남과 북은 반세기 이상 지속되어온 공고한 분단의 벽을 넘어 화해와 협력, 평화의 시대를 열어가고 있다. 이제 우리 스스로 한 민족의 미래를 설계하는 ‘한반도의 시대’가 도래할 것이라는 기대가 확산되고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 한반도에는 그 어느때 보다 통일에 대한 관심과 필요성에 대한 인식이 증대하고 있으며, 남북정상회담 이후 지난 50년간 우리의 국민 의식을 지배해온 냉전적 사고에 질적인 변화를 일으키는 정신문화적 충격을 가하고 있다. 통일을 위한 준비는 여러 관점에서 검토되어야하나, 통일승계세대로서의 청소년의 중요성과 영향력을 고려할 때, 그들이 현재 어떠한 통일의식을 가지고 있는지를 조사 연구하는 작업은 통일교육의 방향과 내용을 결정하는 중요한 근거가 될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 현재 청소년의 통일의식과 국민의 정부 대북포용정책에 대하여 어떻게 인지, 선호, 평가하고 있는가에 대해 조사 분석함으로써, 청소년들에게 올바른 통일의식을 정립시키고 통일승계세대로서의 역할과 기능을 수행할 수 있도록 하는 방안을 모색하는데에 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 청소년의 통일의식 및 대북포용정책에 대해 알아보기 위해 문헌연구와 설문조사를 주로 활용하였으며, 서울ㆍ경기 지역의 중ㆍ고등학생들에게 493부의 설문지를 배부하여 조사하였다. 설문내용은 통일 관련 의식, 대북포용정책에 대한 의식, 그리고 통일교육과 통일의식에 대한 견해 등 3개 영역으로 나누어져 있으며 총23문항으로 구성되어 있으며, 자료의 분석 및 제시방법은 백분율을 가지고 각 문항에 대한 응답자의 반응 경향을 파악하였고, 연구대상자의 배경변인에 따라 통일의식을 살펴보기 위해 Chi-Square검사를 적용하여 유의성 검증을 실시하였다. 조국의 통일과 평화공존 체제의 정착, 발전을 위해서는 통일교육의 방향은 시대와 문화의 변화에 부합해야 한다. 통일과 관련하여 교육이 특히 중요시 되는 이유는 자라나는 세대야말로 분단을 극복하고 21세기 통일한국에서 사회적 통합을 이룩할 우리의 미래기 때문이다. 교육이란 본질적으로 개인의 학식과 인격을 도야하는 기능을 수행하는 것이지만 동시에 특정사회체제를 유지하고 발전시키는 수단적인 기능도 지니고 있는 것이다. 그러므로 우리가 만일 통일을 지향한 사회적 성격에 대하여 국민적 합의를 도출할 수 있게 된다면 바로 거기에 맞는 교육을 구성하여 통일환경에 적절히 부응하고 통일에 공헌할 인간을 양성하는데 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.;After the South and North summit meeting, the South and North manage the time for reconciliation, cooperation and peace overcoming the hard obstacles caused by the division of Korean peninsula lasted for half a century. Now, we could find the mood expanded which we plan our future by ourselves and which the expectation which the time of "Korean peninsula" would come increases. In this situation, Korean peninsula has faced the higher awareness for the interest and necessity of Unification than ever and taken the mental-cultural shocking which causes qualitative change on cold war thinking on dominated over a last five decade after summit meeting. The preparation for the Unification should be systematically checked over several points. But when we consider the youth's importance and influence as the taking-over generation of Unification, the research and study on what they think of the Unification could be key basis on making direction and contents of the education on the Unification. Therefore, the objectives of this study are the preparation of basic information how we enable the youth to erect the awareness to the Unification and to implement the role and function as the taking-over generation of the Unification, by analysing the study of how current youth aware of the Unification, and think and prefer as well as evaluate the tolerance policy to the North To study of the awareness of the Unification and tolerance policy of the North, we have mainly utilized the documents and the polls, implemented the research with the distribution of questionnaire to the junior/high junior school located. The contents of the questionnaire has been consisted of awareness related with the Unification and tolerance policy to the North as well as the opinion of the education and awareness of the Unification over 3 area and 23 questionnaire. As to the data analysis and testing tool, we analysed the respondents' feedback with the data as a percentage, and studied the significant level with Chi-Square test for the awareness of the Unification according to the personal background of the target respondents. The education direction of the Unification needs applying the change of the current time and culture for our Unification, and the settlement and development of the durable peace on co-existence. The reason of the education importance related with the Unification, in special, is because current youth is our future who should overcome the obstacles from peninsula, and take the social unification of the Unified Korea in 21st century. The role of education is not only training of personal study and personality as a basis, but also keeping and developing of specific social system as a tool. Therefore, if we can get the national agreement on social characteristics pursuing the Unification, we also need to put our efforts to educate the people to enable them to contribute to the Unification and properly meet its circumstances under the suitable education system.
