L. V. Beethoven Piano Sonata의 변주 악장에 관한 연구

Abstract

음악에 있어서 변주곡은 형식으로서나 연주기법으로서나 대단히 중요한 수단의 하나로 계속 발전되어 왔다. 고전주의의 변주곡은 대체로 화성을 바탕으로 리듬에 의한 선율 변주가 대부분이었다. 이러한 고전적 변주기법의 전통위에 Beethoven은 그의 독특한 창조적인 악상들을 변주곡이라는 형식을 빌어 불멸의 음악을 만들었다. Beethoven의 변주곡을 형태별로 나누어 보면, 독립된 작품으로서의 주제와 변주곡, 소나타 형식에서 제1주제가 재현되면서 변형되는 경우나 론도 형식에서 원 주제가 다시 나타날 때 변주되는 기법, 소나타나 교향곡등의 다악장 작품속에 한 악장으로 사용되는 변주 악장의 경우이다. 따라서 Beethoven의 음악적 개성과 다양성의 표출이 변주곡이라는 음악 형식을 통하여 나타난다는 관점에서 보아 본 연구에서는 Piano Sonata의 한 악장으로 주제와 변주곡을 사용하고 있는 Op.14의 2, Op.26, Op.109 의 변주 악장을 분석하므로서 그의 변주기법에서 나타나는 일반적인 양식과 성격적 특색을 찾아보았다. 이에 앞서 piano sonata를 통하여 나타나는 그의 시기별 특징과 변주 악장을 가진 곡들을 요약하였으며, 작품 분석에서는 주로 고정된 요소와 변화된 요소의 측면에서 변주기법을 검토하였다. 분석 결과 Beethoven의 초기, 중기, 후기의 변주곡 스타일의 발전과정을 알 수 있었으며, 그가 창출한 새로운 변주기법인 성격변주에로의 길을 발견할 수 있었다. 각 변주에서는 주제의 선율이나 가장 중요한 동기를 끌어내어 하나의 새로운 주제를 만들고 이것을 발전시켜 나가고 있었으며, 선율은 물론 화성적으로나 조성적, 구조에 이르기까지 어떤 측면에서도 자유롭게 변화시켜 나갔다. 이와같이 Beethoven의 변주곡은 그의 고도의 작곡 기법이 한 작품에 얼마나 많은 다양성을 가져오는 가를 보여주고 있었으며, 그의 예술적 표현의 천재성을 엿볼 수 있었다.;Variation in the classical music has been developed as one of the most important means of the form and performance technique. The most of variation used in the classical period was figural variation by rhythm, based on harmony. With the classical variation technique, Beethoven created his own unique music. The variation of Beethoven could be divided as follows; theme and variation as independent work, the reappearance and variation of the first theme in Sonata, variation of the original theme in rondo form, and variation movement used in many movement works such as Sonata and Symphony. Through those variation forms, Beethoven's musical characteristics and diversity could be shorn. So, them and variation movements of piano Sonatas, OP.14-2, OP.26 and OP.109 were analyzed to find out his style and characteristics. Beethoven's piano Sonatas, that had variation movement and his work's tendency, were summerized and analyzed in the view of elements of retention and elements of variability. As a result, the developmental process of his variation style was illuminated. Also, his new variation techinique, character variation was found. In each variation, a new theme was created from the original theme or the most important motive and developed in harmonical, total and structural variations as well as melodical. This study showed how his professional composition technique brought the great variety to a work. It also revealed the genius of his artistic expression.
