중학교 신·구 과학교과서 중 생물영역에 대한 비교 분석

Abstract

우리나라 중학교 생물교육과정 개선의 자료가 되도록 하기 위하여 1982년에 발행된 국내 중학교 과학 교과서 3권과 현행 과학 교과서 3권의 내용을 검토하고 비교 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 우리나라 중학교 과학 교과서는 학년별로 나누어져 있으며 현행 교과서는 종전보다 단원을 축소 통합하여 보다 기초적이며, 기본적인 지식구조가 압축되어 편집되어 있다. 2. 현행 교과서와 종전 교과서는 모두 물리, 화학, 지학, 생물영역을 비교적 고르게 다루고 있으며 생물영역의 강조도가 가장 높으나, 현행 교과서는 종전 교과서에 비해 화학영역에 대한 강조도가 낮다. 3. 교과 내용면을 볼때 주제로서, 현행 교과서와 종전교과서는 모두 구조와 기능을 강조하고 있으며 현행 교과서는 종전 교과서에 비해 다양성과 단일성을 강조한 반면, 생물과 환경에 대한 강조도가 낮다. 4. 현행 교과서의 수준의 강조도는 종전 교과서와 거의 비슷하여 개체와 조직·기관을 강조하고 있으나, 종전과 다르게 군집 수준을 다루지 않았다. 5. 현행 교과서의 실험 주제는 종전 교과서와 동일한 것도 있으나, 교과학습에 효율성을 높일 수 있는 것으로 정선되어 빈도는 종전에 비해 크게 줄어들었다. 6. 현행 교과서의 그림과 사진의 출현빈도는 종전 교과서와 거의 같지만, 종전보다 크기를 크게하여 학생들의 흥미유발 및 이해를 돕고있다. 7. 현행 교과서는 종전과 내용면에서 큰 차이는 없으나, 과다한 지식 중심의 과학교육에서 탈피하고 생물의 기본적인 내용을 정선하여 구조화한 점에서 종전보다 진일보했다.;An analysis of the biology textbook for primary, junior and senior high schools indicates findings, as follows: 1. The animals carried in the biology textbook for the primary school consist of 6 phylums, 13 classes, 37 orders, 52 fa- milies and 63 genuses; that for junior high schools, of 14 phylums, 40 classes, 99 orders, 135 families, and 171 genuses; that for senior high schools, on the average, of 23 phylums, 58 classes, 125 orders, 168 families, and 216 genuses. 2. An investigation of number of species and their frequency of appearance reveals that the textbook for the primary school consists of 73 species and 478 times; that for junior high schools, of 203 species, 907 times; that for senior high schools, of 703 species, 1595 times. 3. Number of species and their frequency of sppearance are, from high to llow, in order of senior, junior high and primary schools. Inasmuch as there is a sharp contrast among five different textbooks for the senior high school, discretion is needed for the choice of the textbooks.
