환경호르몬에 대한 고등학생과 과학교사의 인식조사

Abstract

최근 우리를 위협하고 있는 환경호르몬에 대한 교육이 절실히 필요하지만 현재의 교육과정과 교육내용을 살펴보았을 때 환경호르몬에 대한 교육은 제대로 시행되지 못하고 있으며 그 교육 프로그램 또한 미비하다. 환경교육은 다학문적이고 간학문적인 특성이 있지만 어느 학문보다도 환경교육에 기여하는 바가 큰 과목이 바로 과학이다. 특히 환경호르몬의 내용은 STS적 특성을 지니고 있어 환경교육과 관련이 많은 과학 교과를 통한 교육적 접근이 필요하다. 본 연구는 환경호르몬에 대한 교육 교재의 개발에 앞서 학생들이 가지고 있는 환경호르몬에 대한 인식과 교육 실태를 알아보고자 한다. 고등학교 10학년 과학 교과서 7종의 환경 관련 단원 분석을 통해 교과서 내 환경호르몬의 내용을 살펴보았고, 고등학교 학생과 과학교사들의 환경호르몬에 대한 인식과 교육 실태를 조사하였다. 또 환경호르몬에 대한 지식과 태도 간의 상관관계를 알아보고 성별, 계열별 차이를 조사하였다. 설문 연구 대상은 서울과 경기도 지역 고등학생 204명과 과학교사 26명으로 설문지는 SPSS 12.0 통계 프로그램을 사용하여 t 검정, 상관분석, 빈도분석으로 결과를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하여 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제 7차 교육과정 고등학교 ‘과학’ 교과서 내 환경호르몬의 내용을 분석한 결과, 환경호르몬은 탐구 활동 중심이었으며, 내용별로 보면 자료해석이 가장 많은 영역을 차지하였으며 다음으로 토의의 비중이 높았다. 하지만 교과서의 내용이 전체적으로 자연스럽게 연결되지 못하고 환경호르몬에 대한 설명이 단순하여 교과서만으로는 학생들이 환경호르몬에 대해서 학습하기에 부족하다고 판단되었다. 둘째, 고등학생들은 환경호르몬에 대한 정보를 주로 대중매체나 학교 수업을 통해 얻고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 환경호르몬에 대해 대부분 관심을 가지고 환경호르몬이 사람에게 위험한 물질이라고 인식하고 있었으나, 직접 관련된 활동에 참여하는 것에는 적극적이지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 환경호르몬에 대한 지식과 태도의 상관관계는 정적관계를 보이며, 성별에 따른 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 지식 점수가 높을수록 학생들의 태도 점수도 높아지는 경향을 나타내므로 환경호르몬 교육을 통해 태도 변화의 긍정적인 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 넷째, 고등학교 과학 교사들의 환경호르몬 교육에 대한 인식 수준은 대체적으로 높았으며 환경호르몬 교육을 위한 프로그램이나 교재의 개발의 필요성을 인식하였다. 다섯째, 고등학생과 과학교사의 설문지 응답 결과, 두 집단 모두 환경호르몬의 지식 내용 중에서 환경호르몬 문제의 해결방법과 인체 내 작용 방법 등 직접적으로 영향을 받는 영역에 대한 내용의 환경호르몬 교육 프로그램이나 교재가 개발되어야 하며, 수업 자료로는 학생들은 영상물, 사진, 만화, 애니메이션과 같은 시청각 자료를 선호하였고 교사들은 영상물이나 인쇄매체를 요구하였다. ;The purpose of this research is to investigate the recognition against the endocrine distruptors education of high school students and science teachers and to suggest the guideline of textbook. In order to obtain some learning data for developing an ideal science curriculum of endocrine distruptor, Environment chapter in seven kinds of science textbooks for the 7th curriculum were analyzed. Particularly, inquiry activities was by three dimension framework which consists of inquiry content dimension, inquiry process dimension and inquiry context dimension. The object of this research 204 person high school students and 26 teachers who are located in Seoul and Kyoungki-Do is. The test tool of this research is the question item which asks the recognition against an endocrine distruptor education 57 question item for students and endocrine distruptor education reinforcement plan is composed with 26 question items. The results were analyzed by t-test, correlation analysis, frequency study in tyhe statistical package spss 12.0. The major finding of this study are as follows. First, in analysis of science textbook, seven textbooks contain various learning material and provide us further reading, students can be interested in the text. In analysis of inquiry content dimension, inquiry activity of seven textbooks is the largest part of text. 'data interpretation' is the highest part, next, 'discussion' is taken up the second highest part. Thus, we can learn that the textbooks, deal with through various inquiry activities, accord with objective of the 7th curriculum. Students obtain informations about endocrine distruptors mainly through mass media like TV, radio or lesson in school. Most of them are interesting to endocrine distruptors and they think that endocrine distruptors are very dangerous for man. But they don't want to participate in activity of endocrine distruptors education positively. As compare the recognition and behavior against the endocrine distruptors of the high school students, students of nature department are more statical relation than the department of liberal arts. The recognition against the endocrine distruptors education of high school scientific teachers appears high score and they think to need education program of endocrine distruptor or developing textbook for endocrine distruptor education. Both students and scientific teacher prefer to image data for endocrine distruptor education of science class.
