한국과 미국 음악대학 오르간 전공 교육과정 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 한국 오르간 전공 교육과정과 미국 오르간 전공 교육과정을 비교ㆍ분석함으로써 오르간 전공 교육목적에 부합하는 교육과정의 개선 및 편성에 필요한 기초 자료를 제공하고, 나아가 오르간 음악교육의 바람직한 방향을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 이론적 배경에서는 문헌연구를 통해 한국 오르간 음악교육의 역사적 변천과 한국 오르간의 역사에 대해 살펴보았다. 교육과정 분석에서는 연구 대상 학교인 한국의 오르간 전공이 개설된 22개 대학 중 신학대학을 제외한 음악대학 4개교(대구가톨릭대학교, 목원대학교, 연세대학교, 이화여자대학교)와 음악원 1개교(한국예술종합학교)의 교육과정 구성에 대해 알아보고 이를 분석하여 비교하였다. 미국의 경우는 US 뉴스 & 월드리포트지에서 발표한 우수 음악대학 학부과정의 학교 중에서 오르간 전공이 개설된 4개교(Indiana University, University of Southern California, University of Michigan, Julliard School)의 교육과정에 대해 살펴보았다. 이 연구가 효율적이고 바람직한 오르간 전공교육의 방향을 제시하는데 있어서 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 이를 통해 개선된 오르간 전공 교육과정의 실현은 전문 연주자와 교회 음악가를 양성하는 오르간 음악계의 발전과 성장으로 연계될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is to provide materials for the improvement and new arrangement of an organ major program and to seek for a desirable route of organ education. To achieve the purpose, the comparative analysis was made between organ major curriculum of the selected university and conservatory in Korea and that of in the United States of America. From theoretical perspective, the history of organ education and the history of organ of Korea were examined with related research papers. With regard to Korea, curriculums of the Korean organ major from four music schools (Catholic University of Daegu, Mokwon University, Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University) and one conservatory (The Korean National University of Arts) were examined. When it comes to USA, an investigation was made about four selected schools (Indiana University, University of Southern California, University of Michigan, Julliard School) which have organ major programs ranked amongst the top in the U. S. media. The problems discovered from this study and suggested solutions for correcting these problems were discussed below: 1. It is required to establish a supervising institution to monitor curriculum and their implementations, because they lack in overall uniformity between universities due to its' own self-regulated curriculum and practice by each university. 2. Credits required for graduation are not adequate to provide efficient education in quality. Major courses and number of credits required for graduation should be gradually increased. 3. There should be an agreement between universities about number of credits of common courses and semester year to take these courses, because they varies depending on universities and they can create gaps in depth of major courses. 4. Agreements should be made between universities about standard for designating required and electives from common courses. 5. Number of required major courses for performance should be increased to improve and develop the techniques. 6. Universities should provide curriculum in keeping up with rapidly changing modern society and provide graduates opportunities to pursue a variety of occupations. It is reasonably expected that this research will make an invaluable contribution to improve current curriculums and their managements as a basis of further discussion. At the same time, an advisable direction of the organ major program in Korea would be set up effectively and efficiently. The findings and suggestions are able to take a significant role to cultivate a competent organ professional and organ music industry can be the first beneficiary in the future.
