토양 환경 교육용 STS 모듈의 개발 및 적용 효과

Abstract

Since soil is a foundation of human being's life, to take desirable knowledges and attitudes to soil environment are a very important key to lead a sustainable life. Therefore, soil environmental education needs desirable communication of knowledge with various programs and specialized teachers, also should be taken with experience. also, developed STS module, "decontaminated soil" for soil environmental education. This module had been applied to high school freshmen to find out what changes there would be about soil environmental issues with beforeㆍafter awareness tests. As the results, there was a significant difference between concept of soil and knowledge elevation. And the STS module is fit for Korea's region features, reflects the goal of 7th curriculum and is evaluated good for the classes. Such results prove classes using STS module for soil environmental contamination are more efficient than classes using traditonal teaching-learning method to have students understand concept of soil, and suggest it is not efficient to communicate knowledges only with text books. Therefore, to develop some modules added issues students are interested in and activations and apply to soil environmental education are regarded desirable.;토양은 인간의 삶의 근본으로 토양 환경에 대한 올바른 지식과 더불어 토양 환경 보존 의식과 바람직한 태도를 갖는 것은 지속 가능한 삶을 영위하는데 매우 중요한 요소이다. 그러므로 토양 환경 교육은 다양한 프로그램과 전문 지도교사를 중심으로 올바른 지식의 전달이 필요하며, 체험 교육이 병행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 환경교과서를 대상으로 토양 환경에 대한 환경교육의 중요 내용을 분석하고 또한, 토양 환경 교육 용 STS 모듈로써 “기름기를 뺀 토양”을 개발하였다. 이 모듈은 고등학교 1학년 학생들에게 적용하여 토양 환경 문제에 대한 태도에 어떠한 변화가 있는지 수업 사전ㆍ사후 인식검사를 통해 알아보았다. 그 결과 토양의 개념과 지식 향상도(교과서의 토양관련지식의 충분정도) 측면에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 또한, 본 연구에서 개발한 모듈은 한국이라는 지역적 특성에 적합하며, 제 7차 교육과정의 목표를 잘 반영하고 있고, 수업시간에 유용하다고 평가되었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 토양환경오염에 대한 수업에서 STS 모듈을 이용한 수업이 전통적인 교수-방법보다 토양의 개념을 교수하는데 효과적인 방법임을 증명하고, 교과서의 내용만으로 지식을 전달하기엔 충분하지 않다는 것을 시사해준다. 그러므로 학생들이 관심을 가지는 주제 및 학생활동이 많이 첨가된 모듈을 개발하고 이를 토양 환경 교육에 적용하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 사료된다.
