부부의 자연 출산 경험

Abstract

본 연구는 부부를 대상으로 자연 출산 경험의 의미를 심층적으로 분석하고자 해석 현상학적 분석 방법을 적용하였다. 2021년 7월부터 2023년 1월까지 연구 참여자는 자연 출산을 경험한 부부 8쌍으로, 여성 8명과 남편 8명 각각을 면대면 심층 면담을 통해 자료가 포화 될 때까지 수집되었다. 자료 수집과 분석은 동시에 진행되었으며, 자료 분석은 원 자료와 현장 노트를 이용하여 Smith 등의 해석 현상학적 분석 방법의 6단계 절차를 따라 수행되었다. 연구 결과 6개의 주제와 3개의 본질적 주제가 도출되었다. 첫 번째 주제는 ‘출산의 주체자로서의 여성’으로 여성들은 남편의 자연 출산에 대한 지속적인 동기부여와 조산사의 배려와 지지, 불필요한 의료적 개입이 없는 분위기로 인해 출산에 주도적으로 참여하는 특별하고 독특한 경험을 하였다. 두 번째 주제는 ‘동료로서 느낀 잊을 수 없는 부부애’로서 여성들은 출산 과정 동안 남편과 완벽한 하나의 팀이 되어 힘든 일을 함께 겪어나갔으며, 조산사와 남편으로부터 지속적인 지지와 최대한의 배려를 통하여 진통을 견디며 잊을 수 없는 부부로서의 사랑을 경험하였다. 세 번째 주제는 ‘힘든 일을 함께 이루었다는 가족애’로 여성들은 출산 과정에서 ‘여성’으로서의 주도적인 위치를 드러냈고, 남편은 출산이 ‘자신의 일’이라고 받아들이면서 남편으로서의 존재감을 확인하였다. 여성들은 출산할 때 ‘뻥 뚫린 개운함’으로 표현되는 극도의 쾌감과 충만함을 느끼며 몰입할 수 있었고 남편은 탯줄을 자르며 아이를 ‘자신의 핏줄’로 인식하였다. 따라서 출산을 함께 한 부부애는 출산 과정 동안 아이를 진정으로 받아들일 준비가 충분히 이루어지는 가족애로 형성되었다. 본 연구의 결과, 부부의 자연 출산 경험은 주체자로서의 여성이 자신이 주인공이 되는 경험을 통해서 잊을 수 없는 부부애를 느끼고 남편과 함께 출산한 아이와의 가족애를 형성해 가는 과정임을 부부의 목소리를 통해 제시하였다는 것에 의의가 있다. 아울러 자연 출산 과정에서 조산사들이 부부가 출산을 주도하도록 지지해 주는 역할을 통해 부부가 자연 출산의 진정한 의미를 느끼도록 도와주었음을 제시하였다.;This study applied an interpretative phenomenological analysis method to analyze in-depth the meaning of natural childbirth experiences among couples. From July 2021 to January 2023, the participants of this study were eight couples who experienced natural childbirth, and data was collected through face-to-face in-depth interviews with each of eight females and eight males until data was saturated. Data collection and analysis were performed simultaneously and data analysis was conducted using interview transcripts and field notes by following the six-step procedure using interpretative phenomenological analysis as outlined by Smith et al. As a result, six topics and three essential topics were derived. The first topic is “Woman as a main figure of childbirth”, and women had special and unique experiences of taking control of delivery by continuous motivation of their husbands for natural childbirth, care and support of midwives, and an atmosphere free of unnecessary medical intervention. The second topic is “unforgettable conjugal love as companions”and women became a perfect team with their husbands throughout childbirth and experienced unforgettable love as a couple by enduring labor with continuous support and the utmost care from their husbands and midwives. The third topic is “family love of accomplishing hard work together”: women expressed their leading positions as “Women” during childbirth and the husbands accepted it as “their work” and affirmed their presence as husbands. While women were able to immerse themselves in a feeling of extreme exhilaration and fulfillment during childbirth, described as “feeling refreshed and catharsis”, the husbands recognized the child as “their own blood” by cutting an umbilical cord. Thus, couples who underwent childbirth together formed a family bond preparing them enough to truly embrace the child throughout delivery. The findings of this study are significant in that they suggested in the voices of couples that the natural childbirth experience of a couple is a process in that a woman feels an unforgettable conjugal love by the experience of her being main figure and forming a family bond with the child whom they gave birth to together with their husbands. In addition, it was suggested that midwives aided the couple to understand the true meaning of natural childbirth through their roles supporting the couple to take control of the childbirth during the natural childbirth process.
