Abstract

This study is meaningful in analyzing the morphological characteristics and color characteristics of elements in <Royal Ritual Paintings of the Joseon Dynasty>, systematically arranging traditional color characteristics, and standardizing colors. In order to understand the royal rites before research, it is necessary to see and feel them through the hearts and eyes of our ancestors. <Royal Ritual Paintings> is not a piece that can be understood and appreciated in a fragmentary way, but rather a kind of historical document based on the political and ethical ideas of the Joseon Dynasty. The Joseon Dynasty was a period of rapid development of ideology and cultural values, and its main ideological roots were based on the founding ideology of Yin, Yang, and Five Elements of ‘Buddhism’, ‘Taoism’, ‘Confucianism’ and ‘Neo-Confucianism’. This can be confirmed by looking at the major documents drawn based on iconographic evidence of national cases such a『Gyeonggukdaejeon』,『Gugjoolyeui』,『Gugjosogolyeui』,『Joseonwangjosillok』, and 『Uigwe』. In particular, this study analyzed the morphological characteristics and color characteristics of each ritual element based on the motive and content of the ritual, and systematically arranged the traditional color characteristics. It also examines the influence of Joseon's spiritual culture based on the ideological background of 'Confucianism' and the ideology of courtesy based on court music on the Joseon royal family. Theoretical research on royal ceremonies is being actively conducted on ceremonies, architecture, costumes, and sheet music, and as a result of many previous studies, remarkable results and research results have already been achieved. In this study, with the theoretical background of the relation between 'Confucianism and the Five cardinal colors' of <Royal Ritual Paintings> according to the background and concept of the generation of 'Yin, Yang, and Five Elements', I try to examine the characteristics of color based on the theoretical basis of the 'Yin-Yang Five Elements Thought' and Five cardinal colors. Therefore, we will closely examine the contents of the <Royal Court Ceremony> and study the analysis of shape characteristics and color characteristics of the major components constituting <Royal Ritual Paintings>. Contrary to the previous studies in which a lot of research has been done in theory, shape analysis, color analysis, NCS color characteristics and distribution map, and component palette, used 'Five cardinal colors' were insufficient. digital colorimetry, visual colorimetry, and presentation of differences in analysis, etc. The unique shape and color characteristics of the <Royal Ritual Paintings> are related to the 'Yin-Yang Five Elements Thought' and the Five-Five Elements System contained in the <Royal Ritual Paintings>. A correct understanding of <Royal Ritual Paintings> and the knowledge of reasonable traditions provide a wise future prospect, potential possibilities, and development by accumulating and reflecting on experiences based on records and facts of the past. The significance and value of traditional color standardization and art history research through color analysis and historical meaning contained in the royal events of the Joseon Dynasty. The purpose of this study is as follows. First, the Celebratory Rites of the Royal Courts in the Joseon Dynasty was an example of strengthening the sovereignty of the royal family and the filial piety of the royal family and people based on the idea of ​​courtesy and court music. We will examine the ideological background of the Celebratory Rites of the Royal Courts in the Joseon Dynasty and how they worked until it was produced based on historical facts. Second, by converting the morphological characteristics of the constituent elements of the royal ceremony of the Joseon Dynasty and the color characteristics of the color characteristics into standard data, the basis for re-examination and development of the coloring principle of traditional coloring paintings is made. Third, it shares research and research results around it, such as the preservation of cultural properties, and it is important to promote the current status of cultural properties held overseas, how to use digital images, and research. The purpose of this study is to provide an opportunity to infer and insight into the future of wisdom based on past records.;본 연구는 조선시대 궁중행사도宮中行事圖에서 표현되는 구성요소의 형태 특성과 색채특성을 분석하여 궁중행사도에서 나타난 오방색의 체계적인 연구에 의의를 두고 있다. 색채는 독자적으로 존재할 수 없고 형태와 함께 공존하는 유기적이며 조형적 관계이다. 특히 색채는 일반적으로 객관적 원칙보다 주관적 감성이 요구되는 영역으로 물리학자, 생리학자, 심리학자, 철학자, 건축가, 예술가 등의 주관적 해석과 관점에 따라 구분되고 융합되며 서로 다른 의미로 나타난다. 전통화인 궁중행사도 역시 예외일 수 없다. 형태를 인식하는 과정에서 색채와 형태는 따로 분리할 수 없고 동시에 힘을 발휘하며 시각적 인지를 가능하게 한다. 색채 역시 주변과 밀접한 상호 관계를 가지기 때문에 궁중행사도의 형태적 특성의 분석과 파악뿐 아니라 동시에 색채와의 관계를 종합하여 분석하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 또한 색채는 상당히 다양한 면모를 지니고 있어 어떤 시선으로 대상을 바라보는지에 따라 색채의 해석이 다를 수 있다. 이에 따라 먼저 궁중행사도의 올바른 이해를 위해서 선대先代의 심성과 시선으로 궁중행사도를 바라보고 느끼는 마음을 갖춰야 하며 인식을 공유할 때 가능할 것이다. 우리가 사물이나 대상을 흥미롭게 바라보는 일은 어렵지 않으나 정확히 인식하는 것은 인과적인 설명이 필요하다. 이를 위해서는 궁중행사도의 표면적 감상뿐 아니라 내재된 역사적 사실을 근본으로 전통 사상의 전반적 이해와 상징적 의미 파악을 간과할 수 없다. 역사적 사실은 이미 체험된 과거의 사실을 포함한 현재의 일부이고 서로 상호 연관 작용의 관계이다. 이는 단순히 시간의 흐름을 의미가 아닌 끊임없이 순환하며 우리에게 예측할 수 있는 보편적 사실을 반영한다. 조선시대 궁중행사도는 단편적으로 이해하고 감상할 수 있는 대상이 아니라 조선시대의 정치와 윤리사상을 근간으로 하는 일종의 기록물로 매우 사실적이고 시대적 특성을 지닌다. 조선시대는 사상과 문화적 가치가 탁월하게 발전했던 시대로 음양오행사상을 근간으로 한 불교佛敎, 도교道敎 및 주요 사상적 근원인 유교儒敎와 예禮, 국가건국 이념인 성리학性理學을 기반으로 유구하게 발전해 나아갔다. 이는『경국대전經國大典』,『국조오례의國朝五禮儀』,『국조속오례의國朝續五禮儀』등 국가 예제禮制의 확립을 도상적인 근거 기반으로 조선시대 궁중행사도가 그려진 주요 맥락을 살펴보며 확인할 수 있다. 본 연구는 국가 예제의 오례五禮 중 특히 가례嘉禮로 실행되었던 궁중행사도의 제작 동기와 행사 내용을 기반으로 궁중행사도 유형별 구성요소의 형태 특성과 색채특성을 분석하여 궁중행사도의 색채특성을 체계적으로 정리하려 한다. 또한 궁중기록화宮中記錄畵의 사상적 배경인 음양오행사상을 근간으로 유교문화와 예악사상禮樂事想 등 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 축적된 조선시대 정신적 문화적 소산이 궁중행사도 성립에 미친 영향에 대해서도 함께 고찰해 보려 한다. 궁중행사도의 이론적 연구는 의례, 건축, 복식, 악장, 정재 등과 연관성을 가지고 활발히 진행되어 이미 많은 선행 연구로 괄목할 만한 연구 결과가 있어 온 반면 궁중행사도 자체가 지닌 고유한 색채는 이론적 범위 내에서만 연구가 다소 제한적으로 진행되기도 하였으나 궁중행사와 관련된 기록자료 등을 종합적으로 고찰하지 못한 면이 있다. 본 연구에서는 음양오행사상의 생성배경 및 개념에 따른 궁중행사도의 성리학적 사상 배경과 오방색 체계의 연관성을 이론적 배경으로 조선시대 궁중행사도의 구성요소 형태 특성과 색채특성을 고찰하였다. 이에 따라 궁중행사도의 행사 내용을 면밀히 살펴보고 궁중행사도를 구성하는 주요 구성요소의 형태 특성 분석과 색채특성 분석을 연구하였다. 또한 궁중행사도의 행사 규모와 목적에 따라 유형별 분류하고 의궤에 수록된 도식圖式을 병행하여 변화와 발전과정을 비교 분석하였다. 이론적으로 많은 연구가 이루어졌던 기존 선행연구와는 다르게 그동안 연구가 미흡했던 각 행사도의 구성요소별 형태 분석과 색채 분석, NCS 색채 특성과 분포도, 구성요소 팔레트, 주요 오방정색과 오방간색, 디지털 측색 및 육안 측색과 분석 차이점의 제시 등 궁중행사도만이 가지고 있는 고유한 형태 특성과 색채특성을 조선시대 궁중행사도 안에 담긴 음양오행사상과 오방색 체계와의 연관성과 함께 정리하였다. 또한 미술사적 연구에 가치를 두며 궁중행사도에서 성리학적 이념을 어떻게 받아들였는지에 대하여 시대적 관점을 반영하며 포괄적이면서도 보편적인 색채특성을 연구하였다. 조선시대 궁중행사도에 대한 올바른 이해와 합리적인 전통의 지식은 현시대에 살고 있는 우리가 과거 시대의 기록과 사실을 근간으로 경험의 축적과 성찰로 현명한 미래의 전망과 잠재적인 가능성 및 발전을 유추해 보고 통찰력을 갖추는 계기를 갖는 것이 본 연구의 의도이다.
