César Franck Violin Sonata in A Major의 연구 및 분석

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to help analyze, study, and play César Auguste Franck (1822-1890)’s Violin Sonata in A Major. This sonata is one of my graduation recital programs. Born in Belgium, he is a French naturalized composer and organist. This work is his only Violin Sonata and consists of four movements, combining classical elements with romantic features. One of the main features of the piece is that it gives unity to the whole piece by using “The circular form”. The first movement is a sonata Allegro form without development section. the second movement is also a sonata form with a complete structure. The third movement is a free form close to fantasy. The last four movement has the structure of a rondo sonata form. The continuous appearance of three important motives in all four chapters shows typical circular form. This work was presented by Franck to celebrate Eugéne Ysaÿe(1858-1931)’s marriage, and has since become one of the most important repertoire in violin literature.;본 논문은 저자의 석사과정인 졸업 리사이틀 프로그램 중 하나인 프랑크(César Auguste Franck, 1822 – 1890)의 대표작인 <Violin Sonata in A Major>에 대해 분석, 연구한 것이다. 벨기에 출신의 프랑크는 프랑스로 귀화한 작곡가이며, 후기 낭만음악의 순수 기악음악 발전에 큰 기여를 한 뛰어난 오르가니스트이다. 그는 고전주의의 음악 기법과 19세기의 낭만주의 음악을 접목시켰으며, 전통적인 대위법적 기법을 중심으로 반음계적인 화성과 갑작스러운 전조, 프랑크 특유의 작곡기법인 순환형식 등으로 작품 전반적으로 통일성이 느껴지는 음악 스타일을 확립하였다. 그의 대표작이자 유일한 바이올린 소나타인 이 작품은 이러한 그의 독특한 작곡기법이 잘 반영된 작품으로, 당시엔 웅장하거나 화려하기보다 자유와 평등을 주제로 한 것들을 추구하는 프랑스 혁명의 영향으로 큰 주목을 받지 못했으나, 이후 점점 각광받기 시작했고 현재까지 많은 연주자들과 대중들에게 끊임없는 사랑을 받고 있다. 본 논문은 19세기 말 프랑스의 낭만주의 음악에 대해 알아보고, 19세기의 마지막 약 25년 동안에 프랑스 음악의 발전을 주도한 프랑크의 생애와 작곡기법, 그의 대표작인 <Violin Sonata in A Major>에 대해 깊이 분석함으로 이 작품 안에서의 피아노와 바이올린의 관계를 이해하고, 연주에 도움을 주고자 하는데 목적이 있다.
