Abstract

본 논문은 석사 졸업연주회 프로그램 중 조아키노 로시니(Gioacchino Rossini, 1792-1868)의 연가곡《베네치아의 곤돌라 경주(La regata veneziana)》와 랜돈 로날드(Landon Ronald, 1873-1938)의 연가곡《삶의 여정(A Cycle of life)》을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 작곡가들의 생애를 문헌 조사를 통해 알아보고 조성과 선율, 리듬 등을 가사와의 관계에 중점을 두어 분석하였다. 벨칸토 오페라를 대표하는 작곡가 조아키노 로시니(Gioacchino Rossini, 1792-1868)의 연가곡《베네치아의 곤돌라 경주(La regata veneziana)》는 베네치아의 곤돌라 경주를 배경으로 연인 모몰로를 응원하며 승리를 바라는 안졸레타의 감정 변화를 생동감 있게 담아낸 곡이다. 경주의 상황과 안졸레타의 감정 변화를 조성과 리듬의 변화, 셈여림의 대조, 비화성음의 사용 등으로 표현하였다. 주로 성악선율의 동음 반복과 도약을 통해 가사를 강조하였으며, 조성의 변화나 비화성음의 사용으로 중요 단어를 강조하기도 하였다. 각 곡은 경기의 다른 상황을 묘사하고 있지만 각 곡에 동일한 특징을 사용하여 연가곡 전체에 통일성을 부여하였다. 랜돈 로날드의 연가곡《삶의 여정(A Cycle of life)》은 해롤드 심슨(Harold Simpson, 1878-1944)의 시를 가사로 하는 작품이다. 이 작품은 제1곡 <전주곡(Prelude)>을 시작으로 삶과 사랑을 사계절인 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울과 결부시켜 비유하였으며, 반주부에 각 계절의 이미지를 잘 묘사하였다. 로날드는 각 곡의 끝에 불완전한 정격종지를 사용하였으며 제5곡만 완전 정격종지로 끝낸다. 이는 연가곡의 특징 중 하나로 불완전 정격종지를 통해 뒤에 이어지는 곡이 있음을 암시하는 것이다. 인생은 끊임없이 흐르고 순환한다는 이 곡의 주제를 이러한 종지 형태를 통해 나타내었으며 각 곡에서의 중요 단어를 늘임표와 최고음, 셈여림 등을 통하여 확실하게 강조하였다.;The subjects of this study are Gioacchino Rossini's (1792-1868) song cycle 《La regata veneziana》 and Landon Ronald's (1873-1938) song cycle 《A Cycle of life》 from the master's graduation concert program. In this study, the lives of composers were investigated through literature research and analyzed by focusing on the relationship between tonality, melody, and rhythm with lyrics. Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1868) is a composer representing bel canto opera. His cycle song 《La regata veneziana》 vividly captures the emotional changes of Anzoletta who supports her lover Momolo and hopes for victory against the backdrop of a gondola race in Venice. The situation of the race and Anzoletta's emotional changes were expressed through changes in tonality and rhythm, contrast in movement, and use of non-harmonic sounds. Mainly, lyrics were emphasized through homophonic repetition and jumping of vocal melodies, and important words were emphasized through tonality changes or use of non-harmonic sounds. Each song describes a different situation in the race, but the same characteristics are used in each song to give unity to the entire song cycle. Randon Ronald's song cycle 《A Cycle of life》 is a work whose lyrics are based on a poem by Harold Simpson (1878-1944). Starting with the first song, <Prelude>, this work compares life and love with the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and depicts the images of each season well in the accompaniment. Ronald used an imperfect authentic cadence at the end of each song, and only song 5 ends with a perfect authentic cadence. This is one of the characteristics of cycle songs, implying that there is a song that follows through an imperfect authentic cadence. The theme of this song, that life constantly flows and circulates, is expressed through this form of cadence, and the important words in each song are clearly emphasized through extensions, the highest note, and dynamics.
