Abstract
A Study on the Creation Process of Non-Face-to-Face Dance: Focusing on ‘I who Find the Way’ The purpose of the study was to determine the non-face-to-face practice process focusing on the creative process of the dance work . In the reality that face-to-face performances have become difficult due to COVID-19, the researcher felt that online performances for Home-Ludens were inevitable, and thought that the performance preparation process should also be done by non-face-to-face. In other words, I believed that it was necessary not only to meet face-to-face and create works, but to design dance works non-face-to-face to find a direction to adapt to the changed society. was a non-face-to-face choreography practice using Zoom Cloud Meeting, a real-time communication medium, and went through a process of blended learning that minimized face-to-face choreography as it encountered limitations in the creative process. Further using the recording and editing skills of Zoom, I was able to create a dance video work. After that, on December 9, 2020, a face-to-face performance was announced in Hall 1 of the Dance Department of Ewha Womans University, and the real-time streaming follow-up performance took a new challenge and tried to derive its meaning from various aspects. In this way, the researcher explored various points to discuss about the non-face-to-face creative process and online performance by experiencing various methods of representation. In this process, this study was conducted as a practice based research, and participatory observation and in-depth interview were conducted in parallel to improve the quality and quantity of data collection. Practice based research is a research method in which academic discussions are conducted based on results such as dance works. The researcher faithfully carried out the procedure and process of the practice based research, and there was a difference in that the main analysis target is the ‘creative process’ of the work, not the ‘itself’ of the creative work. In the non-face-to-face creative process and the research process to organize it, the researcher gained new realizations and important tasks in terms of 'traditional dance method' and 'on the ground'. First of all, in terms of spatiality, it was difficult to express wonderful directing, crossing, contact, and unity that could be expressed as group dance because practicing in one space was almost impossible. This situation means the weakening of the on-the-ground required in the traditional dance method. Nevertheless, it was possible to discover a new meaning that the space on the screen implemented in the camera angle learns a new concept of space from dancers. The infinity of space in cyberspace contains the scalability of the stage background. In the context of spatiality, the choreographer has to provide the dancers with clear indications related to movement, so there are many areas to be interested in. Thus, it was necessary to devise a choreography that minimizes the movement. This means that traditional dance could not fully capture the on the ground between the dancers pursued, and this difficulty could be substituted with other elements. The element of harmony in the choreography was able to be noticed by planning a choreography that emphasized individuality by utilizing the temporal characteristic of the time difference according to the Internet connection status. In addition, it was found that the gaze of the dancer in the camera angle was different from the gaze of the dancer in the face-to-face performance. In particular, since the difference is severe in the gestures in the diagonal direction, the choreographer realized that the choreographer had to explain the choreography with different standards in face-to-face and non-face-to-face practice. Unlike traditional dance, this is a situation where other concerns are doubled, but when viewed from the point of view of containing the diversity of dance works, it can be a factor to develop new capabilities for choreographers. Based on the results of this study, the non-face-to-face creative process has advantages such as cost savings and ease of practice time regardless of time. Further, although the platform called 'Zoom' is difficult to escape the spatial limit, it suggests that various productions are possible through the combination of filmed images. This also proves that the dance practice method of blended learning, which combines non-face-to-face and face-to-face practice, can be used. In the case of , a private space was turned into a public space, and through face-to-face practice, it was possible to express the appearance of cyberspace and the natural background stage. In other words, blended learning can be evaluated as a new genre of dance performance because it contains the transcendence of time and space that cannot be realized in face-to-face performances. Therefore, this study has the potential to help develop specialized applications, platforms, and artistic creation tools for dance majors in the future, and to breathe fresh wind to choreographers who try various creative methods of convergence.;본 연구는 무용작품 「길을 찾는 나」의 창작 과정을 중심으로 비대면 연습 과정을 연구하는 데 목적이 있다.
