Abstract

본 논문은 연구자의 석사과정 졸업 연주 프로그램인 루드비히 반 베토벤(Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827)의『Cello Sonata No.5 in D Major Op. 102 No. 2』, 니콜로 파가니니(Niccolo Paganini, 1782-1849)의『Variations on One string on a theme by Rossini』, 리하르트 슈트라우스(Richard Strauss, 1864-1949)의 『Cello Sonata, Op. 6』에 대해 연구하고자 한다. 루드비히 반 베토벤(Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827)은 고전주의의 대표적인 작곡가이다. 그는 5개의 첼로 소나타를 작곡했는데 이 논문에서 다룰 Cello Sonata No.5 in D Major Op. 102 No. 2은 Op. 102 No. 1과 함께 1815년 작곡되어 Erdody 백작 부인에게 헌정되었던 곡이다. 출판 당시에는『Piano와 Cello 또는 Violin을 위한 두 개의 Sonata』 라는 표제를 붙여 출판되었다. 베토벤 후기작품에 속하는 이 곡은 그의 낭만주의적 화성과 기법이 잘 표현된 곡이다. 니콜로 파가니니(Niccolo Paganini, 1782-1849)는 낭만주의의 대표적인 바이올린 연주자이자 작곡가이다. 그가 1818년 작곡한 Variations on One string on a theme by Rossini는 원래 바이올린의 G선만을 사용하여 연주되는 곡으로 동시대의 오페라 작곡가 조아키노 로시니(Gioachino Rossini, 1792-1868)의 3막 오페라『이집트의 모세 Mosè In Egitto』3막의 베이스 아리아 ‘하늘의 옥좌에서 Dal tuo stellate soglio’를 주제로 한 곡이었다. 본 논문에서는 첼로와 피아노 편성을 다루고자 한다. 아리아를 모티브로 한 느린 도입부에 이어 행진곡풍의 주제와 3개의 변주로 이어지며 파가니니의 테크닉이 돋보이는 곡이다. 리하르트 슈트라우스(Richard Strauss, 1864-1949)는 19세기 독일 후기 낭만주의의 대표 작곡가로 오페라와 가곡의 대가라 알려져 있지만 전 생애에 걸쳐 다양한 분야에서 작품활동을 하였고 그 실력을 인정을 받았다. 본 논문에서 다룰 Cello Sonata, Op. 6은 1883년 작곡된 그의 유일한 첼로 소나타 곡으로 그의 초기 작곡 기법과 후기 작품의 교향악적인 화성감이 느껴지는 곡이다. 이 연구는 위 세 곡을 작곡가의 출생 순서에 따라 서술하여 작곡가의 생애와 작품의 시대 배경을 이해하고, 작품 분석을 통해 연주자의 음악적 이해도를 높여 실제 연주에 도움을 주는 것을 목적으로 한다.;The study focused on <Cello Sonata No.5 in D Major Op. 102 No. 2> by Ludwig van Beethoven, <Variations on One string on a theme by Rossini> by Niccolo Paganini, and <Cello Sonata, Op. 6> by Richard Strauss, which were all composed in my graduation recital. Ludwig van Beethoven composed five Cello Sonatas between 1796 and 1815. Among them, <Cello Sonata no.5> is L. v. Beethoven’s last work for Cello, which is composed in classical form of 3 movement sonata. This shows L. v. Beethoven’s unique techniques very well. In addition, it is the first L. v. Beethoven song to use Fuga for the last movement. It shows the characteristics of a fusion of Classic music and Romantic music. Niccolo Paganini was well known not only as a great composer, but also as a violinist. In, 1818, N. Paganini composed <Variations on One string on a theme by Rossini>, consisting of violin and piano. However, this study deals with the arranged version for cello and piano. The theme come from ‘Dal tuo stellate soglio’, the base aria of Act 3 of ‘Mose in Egitto’ by Rossini. This piece consists of 6 parts. Through those parts, N. Paganini shows his ingenious techniques. Richard Strauss composed a very few chambers music. Among them, <Cello Sonata, Op.6> is the only cello sonata he wrote. Overall, it had the classical standard Sonata form; the structure of the music had the progressive structure. R. Strauss’s <Cello Sonata Op.6> shows not only the appearance of a classical sonata form but also shows R. Strauss’s musical aspect with a distinct color and shows transitional tendency to work.
