구스타프 클림트 회화의 모티브를 응용한 누노 펠트 디자인 연구

Abstract

구스타프 클림트는 화려한 색채와 풍부한 표현, 황금빛 화가로 세기말 상징주의의 대표적인 화가라고 할 수 있다. 그는 일생동안 자유로운 표현 방식을 끊임없이 추구하며 자신만의 독립적인 양식을 확립시키기 위해 노력했다. 그는 특히 생명의 탄생, 사랑과 죽음, 그리고 자연에 대한 상징적 모티브를 사용하면서 독창적인 예술적 표현을 시도했다. 클림트의 회화에서 보여지는 원형, 사각형, 타원형, 나선형 등은 그만의 독특한 언어로 우리에게 메시지를 던져주고 있다. 이러한 모티브를 단순화하고, 현대화하여 제품 디자인으로 적용 할 수 있으며, 이에 연구자는 이러한 상징적 의미를 담고 있는 모티브를 응용하여 여성성을 상징하는 원형을 중심으로 작품 전개를 시도하고자 했다. 본 연구자는 클림트의 자유로운 예술 작품에서 표현된 화려한 장식적인 모티브와 그 모티브에 담겨 있는 상징적 언어들을 작품에 도입하고자 하였다. 클림트 회화 속에 표현된 꽃과 화려한 장식들, 그리고 기하학적인 형태들을 재해석하고, 재배치 한 후, 아트 패브릭(Art Fabric)의 패턴으로 적용하고자 했다. 이 작업을 위해 다양한 독창적인 모티브를 자유롭게 표현할 수 있는 소재로, 프리펠트양모(Pre-Felt Wool)를 이용해 작업하였으며, 모든 과정은 수작업(手作業)으로 이루어졌다. 클림트의 회화 속, 상징적 모티브를 프리펠트양모를 통해 독특한 질감과 색상의 표현을 시도하였고, 양모 특유의 성질인 축융성(縮絨性)에 중점을 두며 작업했다. 또한, 양모의 안정성(安定性)과 견고함을 유지시킬 수 있는 소재로, 실크를 혼합하여 양모와 함께 사용하였으며, 양모와 양모 사이의 실크를 통해 빛의 투과도를 시도해 볼 수 있었다. 제작과정에서 클림트 회화 속의 상징적 모티브를 응용하여 패턴을 만들었고, 아트 패브릭에 적용할 모티브는 펠트를 이용해 재단하고 구성하였다. 양모의 특성을 이용해 압력을 가하며 손으로 문질러 축융을 시도하면서, 작품의 크기와 두께, 질감 등을 조절하며 표현해 보았다. 프리펠트양모라는 소재의 무한한 형태 변화의 가능성과 자유로운 표현이 가능한 점에 중점을 두어 작업했고, 이 작업을 통해 직물에서 나타날 수 있는 패턴 디자인을 표현하고자 하였다. 실크와 다른 소재와의 결합을 시도하면서 소재융합 면에서 흥미로운 재료라는 점을 확인 할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 현대 디자이너들에게 주목받고 있는 양모 펠트 소재의 영역을 확대시키고 패션, 소품, 인테리어 등의 다양한 분야에도 충분히 활용 가능한 소재임을 알게 되었다. 단일품종으로 대량 생산되는 공정과는 다르게 화학제품을 일체 사용하지 않고, 모든 과정을 수작업(手作業)으로 진행하면서 양모, 천연 식물성 비누, 물, 압력만으로 여러 장의 양모를 한 장의 원단으로 재탄생하게 하는 누노 펠트 기법은 환경을 중요시 생각하는 현대 사회에서 필요한 자연 친화적인 기법이라 할 수 있겠다.;Gustav Klimt is a golden painter with rich colors and expressions, and is a representative painter of symbolism at the end of the century. He sought free expression throughout his life and worked hard to establish his own independent style, especially with symbolic motifs of life, love and death, and nature. The circles, squares, ellipses, and spirals in Klimt's paintings send us messages in his unique language. In response, researchers have tried to develop the work around the prototype of femininity by applying this symbolic theme to simplify, modernize and apply it as a product design. The researcher tried to incorporate the colorful decorative motifs of Klimt's free works of art and the symbolic language contained in them. The flowers, gorgeous decorations, and geometric forms represented in Klimt's paintings are reinterpreted and rearranged to be used as patterns in Art Fabric. For this purpose, the material is free to express a variety of original motifs and is made of Pre-Felt Wool, and the whole process is done manually. The symbolic motif of Klimt's paintings is used to express the unique texture and color of wool, focusing on the characteristic characteristics of wool, i.e., meltability. In addition, it is a material that maintains the stability and durability of wool, which is mixed with silk and used with wool, and the transmittance of light can be tested by silk between wool and wool. In the process of production, Klimt's symbolic motifs are used to make patterns, and the motifs applied to art fabrics are made up of felt. Using the characteristics of wool, we tried to apply pressure and rub it with our hands to express the size, thickness and texture of the work. The work focuses on the possibility of infinite morphological changes and free expression of free felt wool material, through which the pattern design of the fabric is expressed. It is an opportunity to experiment with the fusion of silk and other materials, and to prove that it is an interesting material in terms of the fusion of materials. It is well known that it can be used in various fields such as fashion, accessories and interior decoration by expanding the area of felt wool material that is attracting attention from modern designers. Unlike the large-scale production of single varieties, Nunofelt, which uses wool, natural vegetable soap, water, and pressure alone to transform wool into a single fabric, is an environmentally friendly technique in modern society.
