Franz Liszt의 《Tre Sonetti di Petrarca》 분석 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 리스트(Franz Liszt, 1811-1886)가 시인 페트라르카(Francesco Petrarca, 1304-1374)의 서정 시집 『Canzoniere 칸초니에레』 중 3개의 시에 곡을 붙여 작곡한 그의 첫 번째 가곡집 《Tre Sonetti di Petrarca》에 관한 연구이다. 연구의 목적은 시의 내용을 중심으로 리스트가 이를 음악과 어떠한 유기적 관계로 세 곡에서 나타내며 이로 인해 그의 초기 가곡의 특징이 이 작품을 통해 어떻게 드러나는지를 알아보고자 함이다. 리스트는 헝가리 태생의 작곡가이자 피아니스트, 교육자, 편곡자, 지휘자이며 특히 피아니스트로서 큰 명성을 떨친 19세기 낭만주의의 대표적인 음악가이다. 당시 산업 혁명의 발전은 사회주의와 자본주의의 성립과 발전으로 이어지며 시민들의 자유로운 사고와 감정의 표현을 일으켰다. 이러한 시대적 조류 속에서 음악사 또한 큰 변화를 마주하였는데 이 지점에서 리스트는 고전적인 틀을 벗어나 독창적이고 혁신적인 음악으로 새로운 후기 낭만 음악을 도출해낸 작곡가로 자리를 잡는다. 《Tre sonetti di Petrarca》는 이러한 리스트의 독창적이고 혁신적인 음악이 깊이 새겨진 작품집이다. 먼저 연구자는 문헌 조사를 통해 작곡가와 작품에 대한 이론적 배경을 알아보았다. 이후 시의 내용을 파악한 후 리스트가 시를 표현하기 위하여 사용한 음악적 기법을 중심으로 각 곡을 분석하였고, 그로 인해 작품에서 드러나는 음악적 특징과 세 곡 간의 연관성을 연구하였다. 그 결과, 본 작품집의 세 곡은 시의 내용에 따라 리듬, 화성, 선율을 달리하여 시의 내용을 매우 구체적으로 묘사하는 것이 주된 특징이며 이러한 특징들은 리스트의 색채적인 음악과 함께 표현되고 있다. 그 외에 반음계 진행, 동형진행 등으로 시적인 표현과 묘사를 이루고 있으며 임시표, 반음계, 이명동음을 사용한 전조로 불안정한 조성 체계 등도 빈번히 등장한다. 더불어 공통적인 음악 어법들을 통하여 세 곡 간의 연관성을 나타내고 주제변형기법의 큰 틀 안에서 세 곡을 구성하여 연가곡의 형태를 띠고 있음을 발견하였다.;This study examines Franz Liszt (1811-1886)’s first song collection, 《Tre sonetti di Petrarca》, which he composed using three poems from a collection of poems by the poet Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374). The purpose of the study is to find out how the list shows it in three songs in an organic relationship with music, focusing on the contents of the poem, and thus how the characteristics of his early songs are revealed through this work. Liszt was a Hungarian-born composer, pianist, educator, music arranger, and conductor. Most importantly, as a representative musician of romanticism in the 19th century, he earned a great reputation as a pianist. At that time, the Industrial Revolution led to the flowering of ideas of socialism and capitalism, and citizens began to think and express their emotions freely. In keeping with the trend of the times, the scenario of composing music also saw a major shift, with Liszt breaking away from the classical framework and establishing himself as a composer creating new later romantic music with original and innovative tones. 《Tre sonetti di Petrarca》 is a collection of works containing such original and innovative music that deeply resonated with Liszt’s ideas. First, the theoretical background of the composer and work through literature research. On understanding the content of the poems, each song is analyzed focusing on the musical technique that Liszt employed to express the poems. Based on clarifying the technique, further research is conducted on the musical characteristics in the work and the intricate relationship connecting the three songs. The analysis reveals that the three songs in this work describe the contents of the poems by changing the rhythm, harmony, and tune, and these characteristics are expressed through the colorful music of Liszt. In addition, the songs add a poetic expression and description through a chromatic scale progress and sequence. An unstable tonal system is frequently appearing in the transition using an accidental chromatic scale and enharmonic modulation. Further, the relationship among the three songs is expressed using common musical diction, and the songs are composed within the large frame of the thematic-transformation technique, thus lending them the form of a song cycle.
