Felix Mendelssohn Cello Sonata No.2, Op.58에 대한 분석 및 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 고전에서 낭만으로 시대가 변해가는 과정에서 아름다운 균형미로 두 양상을 융합, 발전시켰던 펠릭스 멘델스존 (Felix Mendelssohn, 1809-1847)의 첼로 소나타 2번의 연구이다. 그의 작품에는 고전시대 형식의 구조적 명료함과 낭만시대의 선율 및 다채로운 음색의 풍부함이 모두 포함되어 있으며, 전통을 계승해 나가면서도 새로운 방식으로 혼합하거나 변형하며 발전시키는 그의 노력이 고스란히 담겨있다. 어린 나이부터 작곡을 시작한 그는 38세의 짧은 생애에도 불구하고 교향곡, 협주곡, 성악곡, 교회음악 등을 비롯하여 많은 작품을 남겼는데, 이 중 출판된 실내악곡은 총 27개이고 그중 첼로 소나타는 총 두 곡으로 1번은 Bb Major, 2번은 D Major로 작곡되었다. 총 4악장으로 구성된 멘델스존 첼로 소나타 2번은 전체적으로 소나타 형식에서 보이는 반복과 대칭 등의 고전적 형식에 아름다운 낭만적 선율이 잘 어우러져 있다. 1악장 Allegro assai vivace는 첼로와 피아노의 성부교환으로 주제가 명료하게 드러나며 2악장 Allegretto scherzando의 슬러드 피치카토 (Slurred Pizzicato)는 첼로의 음향이 새롭게 느껴지도록 한다. 피아노의 아름다운 선율로 시작하는 코랄풍의 3악장 Adagio를 지나 변형된 론도 형식의 경쾌한 주제가 반복되는 4악장 Molto Allegro e vivace 으로 마무리가 된다. 시대가 변하는 과정에서의 그의 음악적 양상들을 분석, 연구하여 이해함으로 연주자에게 표현의 방향성과 연주 구성에 도움이 되고자 작성되었다. ;Felix Mendelssohn 1809-1847's work has elegance and comfort that reflects his rich life experience. His works contain both the structural clarity of the classical period, the melodies of the romantic period and the richness of colorful tones, and his efforts to mix, transform, and develop in new ways while inheriting the tradition. Felix Mendelssohn Cello Sonata No.2, which consists of four movements, is well harmonized with beautiful romantic melodies in classical forms such as repetition and symmetry. The theme is clearly revealed in the first movement through the tone color exchange between the cello and the piano. The slurred pizzicato in the second movement makes you feel the cello sound anew. The third movement begins with the beautiful melody of the piano, passing through the Coral-style. The transformed Rondo-style cheerful theme ends with a repetitive fourth movement. This paper was written to help the performer with the direction of expression and the composition of the performance through Mendelssohn's research on life and musical characteristics and analysis of the work.
