주체로 살아가기

Abstract

본 논문은 우리가 몸을 수치심으로 느끼는 인식을 긍정적으로 변화하는 과정을 담은 논고이다. 인간은 태어나면서 성(性)이 결정되어 진다. 어릴 적 가정과 학교에서는 성에 관해 폐쇄적으로 교육하며, 이러한 사회적 분위기 안에서 몸에 대한 부정적인 사고가 우리 안에 자연스럽게 스며든다. 이로 인해 우리는 몸에 대하여 완전히 이해하지 못한 채 살아가고, 더 나아가 두려움, 불안함과 같은 부정적인 감정들이 기저를 이루기에 몸을 긍정적으로 인식하기 어렵다. 주체성이 상실된 대상으로 여겨지는 사고에서 벗어나 몸을 자연스러운 존재로 바라볼 수 있도록 인식을 변화하고자 한다. 성에 대한 고정된 인식으로 인하여 신체를 대하는 두려움의 근거를 탐구해보기 위해 프레드릭슨과 로버츠(Fredrickson&Roberts)의 자기 대상화 경험 이론을 바탕으로 연구하고자 한다. 이는 몸을 사회문화적으로 규정되어 온 틀 안에서 주체성이 결여된 두려움의 대상으로 바라보았기 때문이라는 점을 확인해준다. 또한, 두려움과 수치심이라는 감정에서 벗어나고 싶었던 과정들을 아리스토텔레스의 카타르시스 이론 안에서 살펴보고자 한다. 감정의 변화 이후 몸 자체에 대하여 받아들일 수 있는 근거가 되어준 토마스 하나(Thomas Hanna)의 몸학(Soma) 이론을 통해 몸을 주체성을 가진 긍정적인 존재로 전환하고 인식하여 신체 자체를 자연스럽게 수용하게 된다. 이처럼 경험에 의한 작가들의 다양한 관점을 예술작업을 통해 살펴보고자 한다. 그리고 몸의 변화에 대한 두려움, 수치심과 같은 감정들이 기저가 되어 조형 언어로 나타내며, 여성의 몸에서 잘 드러나지 않는 부분을 끊임없이 표현하는 행위를 통해 부정적인 감정을 표출함으로써 몸을 긍정적인 인식으로 전환하고자 한다. 이러한 유연한 생각의 변화를 통해 몸을 자연스러운 존재로 받아들이게 되는 과정을 보여주는 작업이다. 본 연구를 통하여 성에 대한 폐쇄된 틀 안에서 몸에 대하여 수치심, 두려움으로 인식되는 감정들을 마주하고 해소하며, 이를 통해 몸을 긍정적으로 대하는 전환된 인식의 과정을 볼 수 있다. 그리고 몸은 그 자체로 ‘나’라는 것, 그리고 몸(body)으로서가 아닌 능동적이고 주체적인 몸(soma)으로써 자연스러운 존재로 수용하게 되었다는 점에 의의를 두고자 한다. 나아가 무엇이든 고정된 사고로 바라보지 않고, ‘자연스러움’으로 받아들이는 인식과 태도가 삶과 연결되어 긍정적 사고방식의 확장을 기대해보고자 한다.;This study is an article about the process of positively changing the perception of the body that we feel as shame. A person's sex is determined at birth. Education about sex in childhood homes and schools is not open. In this social atmosphere, negative thoughts about the body naturally permeate into us. Because of this, we live without fully understanding the body, and furthermore, it is difficult to perceive the body positively because negative emotions such as fear and anxiety form the basis. I want to change our perception so that we can look at the body as a natural being, away from thinking that is regarded as an object that has lost its subjectivity. The researcher intends to study based on the empirical theory of self-objectification of Fredrickson&Roberts in order to explore the basis of fear in dealing with the body due to the fixed perception of sex. This study confirms that it is because the body was viewed as an object of fear lacking subjectivity within the framework that has been defined socially and culturally. Also, I would like to examine the processes of humans who wanted to escape from the emotions of fear and shame in Aristotle's catharsis theory. After purifying negative emotions about the body, through Thomas Hanna's Soma theory, which became the basis for accepting the body itself, the body itself is naturally accepted by changing the perception of the body as a positive being with subjectivity. Based on the experiences I felt as a woman and the way I looked at things, I would like to examine the various perspectives of the artists who produce them through their artistic work. In addition, emotions such as fear and shame about changes in the body become the basis and are expressed in formative language, and by expressing negative emotions through the act of constantly expressing the hidden parts of a woman's body, I want to transform the body into a positive perception. This work is the process of accepting the body as a natural being through this flexible change of thinking. Through this study, it is possible to face and resolve the emotions perceived as shame and fear for the body within the closed frame of sex, and through this, we can see the process of converted perception to treat the body positively. And I would like to place significance in the fact that the body itself is 'I' and that it is accepted as a natural existence as an active and subjective soma, not as a body. Furthermore, we would like to anticipate the expansion of a positive mindset in which perceptions and attitudes that are accepted as 'natural' rather than looking at anything as fixed thoughts are connected to life.
