Gaspar Cassado Suite for Cello Solo에 관한 연구

Abstract

가스파르 카사도(Gaspar Cassado, 1897-1966)는 파블로 카잘스(Pablo Casals, 1876-1973)이후 20세기 가장 유능하고 뛰어난 스페인의 대표적인 첼리스트이다. 그는 연주뿐만 아니라 작곡, 편곡, 교육 등 여러 방면에 있어서 뛰어난 음악적 기량을 나타냈다. 카사도는 후기 낭만주의 음악과 인상주의 음악의 특징을 함께 배합했으며 거기에 스페인 민속음악을 결합시킨 작곡가이다. 그의 음악을 살펴보면 카탈루냐 고유의 리듬과 화음, 음악적 특색 등이 담겨 있다. 또 카잘스와 더불어 첼로의 기교적인 부분에 발전을 더한 진취적인 연주자이기도 했다. 카사도는 <Requiebros>, <첼로 콘체르토 D단조>등 많은 곡들을 작곡했지만 첼로곡으로 쓴 곡들 중 현재 남아있는 곡은 단 세 개 뿐이다. 그의 작품 중에서 무반주 첼로 조곡은 강한 카탈루냐 음악적 특색과 춤곡을 배경으로 하여 작곡되었다. 카사도의 무반주 첼로 조곡은 바하의 무반주 첼로 조곡 이후로 가장 음악적 특색이 짙으며 첼리스트의 시각에서 쓴 곡이라 연주자의 입장을 잘 이해하면서 가장 효과적인 연주 기법과 음색, 음악성을 표현한 곡이다. 일반적으로 카탈루냐의 대표적인 첼리스트라고 하면 카잘스를 제일 먼저 떠올리기 쉽다. 그런데 본 논문에서는 카잘스와 버금가는 음악성과 연주 실력을 지닌 첼리스트 카사도에 대해 더 연구하여 그의 음악적 가치를 널리 알리고자 하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 따라서 카사도 무반주 첼로 조곡에 대한 연구를 하기에 앞서 우선적으로 카사도가 살아왔던 시대적, 음악적 배경을 고찰하여 더욱 깊이 있는 분석을 하였다. ;Gaspar Cassado is representative cellist of the 20th century in Spain since Pablo Casals. Not only did he perform, but he also showed outstanding musical ability in composition, arrangement and education. Cassado is a composer who combines the characteristics of the late romantic and impressionist music with Spanish folk music. His music contains unique rhythm, harmony, and misical characteristics of Catalonia. He was also an enterprising performer who, along with the Casals, developed the technical aspects of the cello. Cassado composed many songs, including <Requiebros>, <Cello Concerto D Minor>, but only three of the songs remain. In his work, the unaccompanied Cello Suite was composed under the background of strong Catalonian music and dance music. Cassado‘s unaccompanied Cello Suite has the most musical since J.S. Bach unaccompanied Cello Suite, so it is a song that fully understands the player’s position and expresses the most effective performance techniques, tone and musicality. In general, representative cellist of Catalonia is often the first to think of Pablo Casals, but this dissertation aims to further study the musicality and performance of Catalonian cellist, Gaspar Cassado, who is the second only to Casals, and to promote his musical value. This dissertation examines the musical background of the era in which the Cassado lived before studying the unaccompanied Cello Suite.
