20대 여성의 성차별 피해경험, 울분, 사이버폭력 가해행동의 관계

Abstract

본 연구는 최근 급증하고 있는 사이버폭력 가해행동에 주목하여, 20대 여성을 대상으로 성차별 피해경험, 울분, 사이버폭력 가해행동의 관계를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 성인 여성이 주로 이용하는 온라인 사이트와 소셜 네트워크 서비스를 통하여 참여자를 모집하였으며, 249명의 자료를 바탕으로 분석을 실시하였다. 먼저, 주요 변인들에 대한 기술통계분석을 실시한 뒤, 상관분석을 실시하였다. 다음으로, 성차별 피해경험이 울분을 통해 사이버폭력 가해행동에 미치는 효과를 살펴보기 위하여 구조방정식 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 성차별 피해경험은 사이버폭력 가해행동에 직접적인 효과를 보이지 않았으나, 성차별 피해경험과 사이버폭력 가해행동의 관계에서 울분의 매개효과가 유의하여 완전매개효과가 나타났다. 즉, 여성이라는 성별에 따른 불공정한 대우를 받는 경험은 그 자체로 사이버폭력 가해행동을 예측하지는 못했으며, 증가된 울분을 통해서만 사이버폭력 가해행동에 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 일상에서 성차별 피해를 경험한 20대 여성이 보이는 사이버폭력 가해행동 수준을 낮추기 위하여 울분과 같은 부정적 정서를 적응적으로 다룰 수 있도록 하는 심리적 지원의 필요성을 시사한다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 국내에서 잘 연구되지 않았던 주제인 차별 피해경험과 일탈행동의 관계를 살펴보고, 사이버폭력 가해행동에 선행하는 변인으로 우울, 불안, 공격성과 같은 개인 내적인 특성이나 온라인에서의 사이버폭력 피해경험에 초점을 맞춘 기존의 주된 관점에서 벗어나 부정정서를 유발하는 일상적인 선행사건의 존재에 초점을 맞추었다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 그 중에서도, 본 연구에서는 공정성에 민감하게 반응하는 현재 한국 사회의 청년들에게 중요한 화제가 되고 있는 성차별 피해경험이라는 선행사건을 살펴보았다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.;Focusing on the recent surge in cyber violence behavior, the current study examined the relationship between gender discrimination victimization experience, embitterment, and cyber violence behavior of women in their 20s. For this purpose, this study recruited participants from online websites and social network services commonly used by female adults, and analyzed data from a total of 249 participants. First, the study performed descriptive statistical analysis on major variables and correlation analysis. Next, the study performed structural equation analysis to examine the effect of gender discrimination victimization experience on cyber violence behavior through embitterment. The results of this study are as follows. The gender discrimination victimization experience did not have a direct effect on the cyber violence behavior, however, the mediating effect of embitterment was significant in the relationship between the gender discrimination victimization experience and the cyber violence behavior, indicating a complete mediating effect. In other words, the experience of receiving unfair treatment according to the gender of women did not predict the behavior of cyber violence by itself, although it contributed to the behavior of cyber violence only through increased embitterment. These results suggested that in order to lower the level of cyber violence behavior of women in their 20s who have experienced gender discrimination in daily life, psychological support is needed to adaptively deal with negative emotions such as embitterment. The current study is significant in that it explored an understudied topic in South Korea, the relationship between victimization experience and a deviant behavior. It is also significant in that it focused on the existence of antecedent events in everyday life which induced negative emotions, expanding the conventional emphases on the victimization experience of cyber violence or the inner-personal traits such as depression, anxiety, and aggression as a preceding variable of cyber violence behavior. In particular, this study is significant in that it explored the preceding case of gender discrimination victimization, which is an important issue for young people, who are sensitive to the value of fairness, in current Korean society.
