삼자연합(Tripartisme) 시기 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론

Abstract

본 연구는 제 2차 세계대전 이후 삼자연합 시기 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론에 대한 재고다. 전쟁 이후 프랑스 식민지들에서는 독립을 요구하는 목소리가 빗발쳤지만, 프랑스 공산당은 식민지가 프랑스 본국으로부터 식민지 분리되어서는 안 되고 프랑스 연합에 남아있어야 한다고 주장했다. 공산주의 진영의 반제국주의 기조와 상반돼 보이는 이러한 식민지 유지 주장은 당시 원내 주요 정당이었던 프랑스 공산당이 식민지로부터 얻을 수 있는 국가적 이익을 저버릴 수 없었기 때문에 나온 것으로 간주되어 왔다. 본고는 프랑스 공산당 중앙 기관지 레 까이에 뒤 꼬뮈니즘(Les Cahiers du Communisme)과 뤼마니떼(L’Humanité)의 분석을 통해 그들의 식민지 연합론이 그들의 국제 정세 인식과 마르크스-레닌주의 반독점자본론에 근거했다고 주장한다. 프랑스 공산당은 당시 국제 정세를 앵글로색슨 반공주의와 제국주의 부활이라는 맥락에서 바라보았고, 이는 그들의 식민지 유지 주장에 주요 근거가 되었다. 이러한 현실 정세 인식과 더불어 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론에는 초국가적 거대 독점기업인 트러스트 세력의 위협에 대한 경계가 자리 잡고 있었다. 프랑스 공산당이 볼 때, 즉각적인 식민지 독립은 트러스트에 의한 경제 착취를 심화시킬 뿐이고 이를 막기 위해서는 프랑스 본국과 식민지가 연합해야 했다. 본 연구는 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론을 국내적 요인으로 설명하는 기존 연구의 흐름과 달리 국제 정치적 맥락과 이데올로기의 중요성을 시사한다.;The purpose of the study is to rethink the French Communist Party(Parti Communiste Française: PCF)’s position on French colonialism in the era of Tripartisme after the Second World War. The postwar years witnessed the explosion of anti-colonialist movements in the French colonial world, but the PCF opposed their immediate independence and called for staying within the boundary of the French Union. Previous studies have generally linked the PCF’s position to their status as a major party of the French Provisional Government and the Fourth Republic responsible for securing the national interests. By analyzing the PCF's central organs, Les Cahiers du Communisme and L'Humanité, this study argues that the PCF's support of French unionism between metropolitan France and their colonies was based on their perceptions of the international situations and their Marxist-Leninist theory on monopoly capitalism. The PCF noticed the revival of anti-communism and imperialism in the Anglo-Saxon world after WW2 and found such trends as a significant threat to democracy and self-determination in world politics. Along with their assessment of the international realities, the PCF’s economic theory of global monopoly capitalists, namely trusts, served as another critical pillar for French Unionism. In the eyes of the PCF, immediate independence of the French colonies would only exacerbate economic exploitations by trusts; therefore, metropolitan France and their overseas territories should unite against monopolistic capitalists. This study demonstrates the importance of the context of international politics and the ideology to get a better understanding of the PCF's French unionism with colonies.
