⌜César Franck Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major⌟에 대한 분석 연구

Abstract

세자르 프랑크(César Franck 1822-1890)는 19세기 후반 대표적인 낭만주의 작곡가이자 오르가니스트였다. 프랑스에서 활동한 낭만주의 작곡가였지만 독일음악의 영향을 받아 바흐의 대위법과 베토벤의 고전주의 형식을 받아들였고 이것을 바탕으로 그는 독일 고전주의 음악 양식과 낭만주의적 요소를 합해 프랑스의 순수 기악음악을 발전시키는데 큰 기여를 했다. 프랑크의⌜Violin Sonata in A Major⌟는 그의 음악적 특징들이 주요하게 보여지는 대표적인 작품이다. 4개의 악장으로 구성된 소나타로서 악장 구성에 있어 전통적인 고전주의 소나타 형식 위에 작곡되었지만 변화하고 발전하는 선율, 자유롭고 잦은 전조, 반음계적 기법 등 낭만적인 음악양식들이 함께 보여지는 작품이다. 오르가니스트로 활동한 영향으로 오르간기법 중 하나인 페달포인트가 피아노 반주부 하성부에서 사용되었고 대위법적인 캐논기법은 바이올린과 피아노 사이에서 주제선율이 동등하게 전개되며 진행되었다. 또한 그의 대표적인 작곡 양식인 순환기법이 이 작품에서 두루 사용되었는데, 1,2악장에서 제시된 3개의 음악적 순환동기가 리듬 선율에 있어 변화 발전을 통해 전 악장에 걸쳐 재현됨으로서 전체적으로 통일성을 보여주고 있다. 그의 특유의 악구 구조인 코드페어도 나타나는데 이는 하나의 동기를 반복 또는 발전시키는 악구 구조로서 동형진행을 통해 보여주고 있으며, 당김음의 효과를 주는 이암빅 리듬을 사용하였다. 본 논문은 프랑크가 활동하던 시대적 배경, 그의 생애와 음악적 특징 그리고 작품분석을 통한 연구로서 프랑크 음악을 깊이 이해하고자 하며 올바른 연주에 도움이 되고자 한다.;César Franck(1822-1890 ) was a prominent Romantic composer and an organist in the late 19th century. Though he was based in France, he adopted J. S. Bach's counterpoint and Beethoven’s form of classicism with the influence of the German Classical music. With the background mentioned he contributed to the French serious instrumental music greatly by combining the form of classicism and Romanticism elements. Franck's ⌜Violin Sonata in A Major⌟ is a representative work of his, which primly displays musical characteristics. It is a sonata composed of four movements and is written in the traditional sonata form in terms of the structure of the movements, yet also shows the Romantic elements such as changing and developing melodies, frequently and freely occurring modulations, and chromatic scale techniques. As he was an organist as well, pedal point which is one of the techniques in organ was used for the base part of the piano accompaniment, and a canon from counterpoint was used in the melodies evenly appearing in the violin and piano. Also cyclic form, his representative composing technique was widely used in the work. Three cyclic motifs presented in the first and second movements appear throughout all the movements as they change and develop in rhythmic melodies showing unity. Code fair, one of his unique phrase structures which repeats or develops a motif is shown through sequence, and iambic rhythm that gives syncopation effects was used as well. This dissertation is a study to understand Franck’s music in depth and perform accordingly by analyzing the background of the composer's time, his life, musical characteristics, and works.
