Abstract

본 논문은 필자의 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업 리사이틀 프로그램 중 하나인 풀랑크의 연가곡 《변형(Métamorphoses), Fp. 121》에 관한 연구이다. 전통적인 프랑스 음악은 질서와 절제를 기본으로 감정적인 음악적 묘사보다는 섬세한 음형의 서사가 나타나는 경향이 있다. 몽환적 인상주의에 대한 반발로 시작된, 인상주의와는 상반되게 합리성과 규칙성을 추구한 신고전주의는 문학과 회화, 음악 모든 면에서 나타나게 되었다. 풀랑크는 이러한 신고전주의 작곡가이다. 그는 고대 교회선법이나 오스티나토 같은 바로크적 음악 어법들을 현대음악에 적용할 수 있는 발전적인 어법으로 사용하였으며, 작품의 멜로디 진행에 있어 특유의 섬세함이 관찰된다. 이러한 특징은 가곡에서 특히 두드러지는데, 이는 문학에 대한 깊은 이해가 탁월한 표현력으로 음악화되었기 때문이다. 본 논문에서 연구된 《변형(Métamorphoses)》은 짧은 길이의 세 곡으로 구성되었다. 각 곡은 명료한 형식이며, 이는 모두 시의 구조에 따른 것이다. 더불어 시어의 표현과 뉘앙스의 전달 역시 뛰어나다. 교회선법의 성격이 나타나는 전조와 오스트나토의 사용은 풀랑크가 신고전주의의 영향을 받았음을 보여준다. 또한, 이 작품에 나타나는 강한 불협화의 진보적인 화성의 쓰임이나 잦은 전조로 인해 나타나는 다조성, 특이한 리듬의 사용은 새로운 현대음악의 어법을 제시한다.;This thesis is a study on the song cycle 『Métamorphoses, Fp. 121』 by Francis Poulec(1899-1963) which was performed at the graduate recital for the master's degree. This cycle was performed by various musicians in the past, but not a lot of studies have been done. This song cycle is composed of three songs, 「Reine des mouettes」, 「C’est ainsi que tu es」, 「Paganini」, which shows Poulenc's lyricism and conciseness. These songs are short in length, but they contain complex structure. These three songs show the words from the poem in a very musical way and also expresses the nuance of French as well. Modulation, changes in the beats and other musical factors make the songs more interesting along with the colorful accompaniment which makes the song even more effective. Also Poulenc wrote the specific tempo for each songs and he marked the use of pedal, fingering for the accompaniment to inform the performers how he wants the music to be expressed specificly. Poulenc enjoyed composing on exclusive poet's or poetess's poems rather than the poems from famous poets then, and these characters are shown in his music as well. Ingenious use of the augmented 6th chord and inventive use of the meter developed the musical elements, from supplementary means of the classic use to new and offensive way. By this, Poulenc exposed his own music color clearly.
