Abstract
This research was conducted from 2015 to 2019 on the companies listed on the Korean stock market that received the ESG integrated rating and KEJI index to find out the relationship between the investment factors of the companies and the financial performance of CSR activities. First, we studied whether the investment factors and CSR performance affect the financial performance. Second, we studied whether the interaction with csr through the moderating effect of the investment factors affects the financial performance. The empirical analysis results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of using CSR performance indicators as an ESG integrated grade, it was found that CSR and technology development, advertising, corporate size, debt ratio, operating risk, and business history affect corporate value. However, the regression with EVA showed that CSR and corporate investment factors, excluding all control variables, had no impact. Second, the use of the KEJI index as a CSR performance index resulted in improved corporate value, except for debt ratio and operating cash flows, but the regression with EVA indicated that there was no significance with the CSR and corporate investment factors. Third, when the CSR was analyzed with the ESG integrated grade by setting the company's investment factors as a moderating variable, it was found that only technology development and advertising among the investment factors helped to increase corporate value. On the other hand, EVA showed no moderating effect because it was not significant to the investment factors. In addition, in the case of the KEJI index, both of the investment factors showed that they increased their corporate value and had a moderating effect. However, EVA indicated that, as in the case of ESG, there were no corporate investment factors and effects. These findings are meaningful in enhancing the diversity of research by comparing performance indicators, which consist of different criteria unlike previous prior studies, resulting in results that the ESG integrated rating and KEJI index are not significantly different from the CSR index, and suggesting that corporate investment factors and CSR activities contribute to enhancing corporate value, but are not related to economic value added.
