In patients with back or scapular pain, if there is evidence of neurological symptoms, fever, chills, malaise, or other signs of infection, the work-up should consider the possibility of a spinal-esophageal fistula. © 2019 The Authors. Clinical Case Reports published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
