탈북청소년의 회복탄력성 증진을 위한 미술치료 질적 사례 연구

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine what is experienced in the art therapy process for Young North Korean defector’s resilience and what the experience means to. For this purpose, this study aims to explore what the participant experienced by applying qualitative case study methods. The research participant is 15-years-old female youth who detected from North Korea, and who currently attends an alternative school located in Seoul. The case proceeded twice a week, 90 minutes per session, and for a total of 16 sessions from February 13, 2020 to May 16, 2020. The goal of art therapy for Young North Korean defector’s resilience is positively cope with stress associated with adversity, gaining sel-control by relieving negative emotions, experiencing positive social support, promoting future hope through positive capacity enhancement. Data collection was done through audio files of in-depth interviews of the participant and her teacher, recorded files of art therapy sessions, photographs of the art works, the researcher’s observation journal. All data were collected with the consent of the reserch participant and were analyzed by constant comparison method to examine the experience and meaning of art therapy of young North Korean defector. In detail, the method involved a summary of significant linguistic and art expressions from the participant based on multiple careful reading of the transcriptions, and analyzed the data through the process of open coding, axial coading, selective coding. As a results of analyznig the data, eight categories and nineteen sub-catagories were derived. The eight categories of art therapy experience were <Expressing the current state of mind hidden behind structured life>, <Realizing that I didn't have time to think about myself because of my perplexed feeling>, <Experiencing comfort in being accepted for who I am>, <Facing a deep-seated memory>, <Finding meaning in moments of painful adversity>, <Facing my wounds>, <Holding my own hand tight>, <Being strengthened to face the future>. Based on the results of this study, the conclusions of the experiences of Young North Korean defector in the art therapy process for resilience as follows.First, the participant reexamined the traumatic events through art activities to recognize negative emotions and positively cope with the trauma by inferring the meaning of adversity. Secound, the participant improved her self-control by expressing and relieving nagative emotions through sensuous art therapeutic activities. Third, the participant rebuilt her trust in others and recognized social resources through active interaction with the art therapist. Fourth, the participant accumulated positive emotions through art activities, enhanced her strengths and protective factors and saw her future with hope. In conclusion, the Young North Korean defector was able to overcome adversity and focus on the present, and the process of overcoming trauma become the driving force for the subjects, giving her the courage to face the future. ;본 연구의 목적은 탈북청소년이 회복탄력성 증진을 위한 미술치료를 통해 어떠한 경험을 하고, 그 경험의 의미가 무엇인지 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 연구 참여자가 경험한 것의 의미를 심층적으로 탐색하는 질적 사례 연구 방법을 적용하여 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 참여자는 현재 서울특별시에 위치한 A 대안학교에 재학 중인 탈북을 경험한 만 15세 여자 청소년이다. 사례는 2020년 2월 13일부터 2020년 5월 16일까지 진행하였으며, 주 2회씩 90분간 총 16회기의 미술치료를 실시하였다. 탈북청소년의 회복탄력성 증진을 위한 미술치료의 목표는 외상 사건 재경험으로 인한 부정적 감정의 탐색 및 인식, 감정 표출을 통한 자기조절감 획득, 외상 사건 재경험으로 인한 부정적 감정의 탐색 및 인식, 신뢰적인 사회적 지지 관계 경험, 긍정적 자기 역량 강화를 통한 미래희망 고취이며, 이를 바탕으로 미술치료 회기를 구성하였다. 자료 수집은 참여자의 미술치료 전 회기 과정 및 심층 면담과 참여자의 담임 선생님과의 심층 면담의 녹음 파일과 이를 전사한 텍스트, 작품을 촬영한 디지털 형식의 이미지, 연구자의 임상일지 및 반응작업을 통해 이루어졌다. 자료 분석에는 질적 연구의 자료 분석법으로 사용되고 있는 반복적 비교분석법을 사용하여 탈북청소년의 미술치료 경험과 의미를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 수집된 자료와 전사한 텍스트를 면밀히 검토하고 개방 코딩, 범주화, 범주 확인 과정을 거쳐 참여자의 언어적 표현, 미술표현에서 유의미한 것을 비교하여 분석하였다. 자료를 수집하고 분석한 결과, 총 8개의 상위주제와 19개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 본 미술치료 사례의 경험의 범주는<이미지를 통해 계획적인 삶 속에 숨겨진 현재 마음의 상태를 이야기 함>, <혼란스러운 감정으로 인해 나를 생각할 시간이 없었음을 깨닫게 됨>, <나를 있는 그대로 담아주는 공간이 편안함>, <마음속 깊이 자리 잡고 있는 기억을 마주함>, <고통스러운 역경의 순간에서 의미를 찾게 됨>, <나의 상처를 진솔하게 마주해봄>, <내 마음의 손을 꼭 잡아 줌>, <미래를 향해 나갈 힘을 얻게 됨>이다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 탈북청소년의 회복탄력성 증진을 위한 미술치료 과정에서 경험한 것의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자는 미술 활동을 통해 억압하고 있었던 외상 사건을 재경험하여 부정적 정서를 인식하였고, 역경에 대한 의미를 유추함으로 외상 사건을 긍정적으로 대처하였다. 둘째, 연구 참여자는 감각적인 미술치료 활동을 통해 부정적인 감정을 표출하여 해소함으로 감정의 정화를 이루었고 자기조절능력을 향상시켰다.셋째, 연구 참여자는 미술치료사와의 상호작용을 통해 타인에 대한 신뢰감을 회복하였고, 사회적 자원을 인식하였다. 넷째, 연구 참여자는 미술활동을 통해 긍정 정서를 축적하였으며, 자신의 강점 및 보호 자원을 강화하여 미래희망을 고취하였다. 이를 종합하여 볼 때, 탈북청소년은 회복탄력성 증진을 위한 미술치료 과정을 통하여 미술활동을 통해 감점을 표출함으로 역경에 대한 긍정적 대처를 이루었고, 부정적 감정을 해소하여 자기통제력을 획득하였으며, 치료사와의 긍정적인 사회적 지지를 경험하여 대인관계의 신뢰감을 회복하고, 긍정적 정서 축적 및 내적·외적 보호자원을 인식하여 미래희망을 고취할 수 있었다. 이로써 탈북청소년은 과거 외상 사건으로부터 인한 부정적 감정을 극복하고 지금 여기에 집중하게 되었으며, 외상 극복과정이 원동력이 되어 현재의 갈등에 도전하고 불확실한 미래를 헤쳐나갈 수 있는 용기를 갖게 되었다.
