제의적 요소의 차용을 통한 모성적 원형 표현 연구

Abstract

현대 과학 기술은 인간의 이성적, 합리적 가치관에 의해 끊임없이 발전해왔고, 그 발전은 인간에게 윤택한 삶을 선사했다. 이러한 과학 기술의 발전과 실용적 필요에 따라 현대 도시 환경은 기하학적 구조와 직선적 형상을 띄게 되었다. 그 안에서 살아가는 인간의 삶이 유기적인 것에 반해, 그들의 영적인 부분이 상실된 삭막한 삶을 사는 것이다. 마치 거대한 자로 잰 듯한 현대사회의 직선적인 건축물들은 영혼을 담을 수 없을 뿐만 아니라 오히려 옥죄는 것과 같은 삭막함을 주게 되었다. 이러한 문제의식 속에서 연구자는 땅이 아닌 땅, 즉 시멘트로 된 고층 건물에서 부유하는 삶을 살면서 인간의 근원을 이루는 땅에서 멀어지는 현대인에게 우리가 딛고 사는 땅 아래에 쌓여온 이야기들의 중요성을 강조하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 땅이 가지는 영적인 것과 인간의 근원에 대한 질문에서 시작하였다. 연구자는 우리 인간의 존엄성이 이성적, 합리적 가치관에 의해 재단되고 있는 현실을 비판적인 시선으로 바라보며, 나아가 비과학적이지만 초자연적인 것들에 집중하고 이러한 요소들을 예술적으로 표현하고자 하였다. 또한, 예술이 인간의 삶과 사회에 대한 통찰을 제공할 수 있다는 이해를 기저에 깔고, 소위 ‘4차 산업 혁명 시대’ 라고 불리는 기술 지배의 비인간화 된 시대에 인간이 잃어가는 무의식 속 ‘모성적 원형’의 중요성을 역설한다. 모성적 원형이란, 정신분석 심리학자 융이 주장한 개념이다. 이는 예술의 창조적 과정에서 나타나는 특질을 가졌으며 개인의 ‘기억 영역’이 아닌 인간 정신 속 가장 깊은 ‘무의식’에 박힌 채 계승되어 온 하나의 상징이다. 연구자는 현대사회에서 감성적인 인간성이 상실되는 것 혹은 삭막한 사회 분위기가 조성되는 등의 문제들이 우리가 잃은 것으로부터 시작된다고 보았으며, 그에 따라 동시대의 현대인이 잃어가는 초자연적인 감성을 유기체적 형태 및 제의적 요소를 차용해 와서 조형적으로 표현하였다. 위와 같이 본 연구는 과학적이고 합리적인 것이 아닌 비이성적이고 초자연적인 지점을 건드리며 진행되었다. 이는 현대사회의 기술에 소외되어오는 인간의 주체적 정체성을 회복하기 위함이며, 연구자는 이러한 점을 우리가 잊어온 신화나 설화 등의 구전되어오는 이야기들로 전개했다. 계속해서 언급해온 현대인이 잃어가는 인간성이란, 근현대문명의 발전과 함께 쌓여온 시간들에 의해 생성된 수많은 수평적인 층들에 깔리고 덮여 하루하루 일상에 치여 미처 못 본 채 살아가게 되는 것일지도 모른다. 연구자는 우리가 걸어가는 콘크리트 길 아래에 덮인 과거의 흙과 그 축축함이 주는 여러 은유와 레이어들을 파헤쳐 나가며, 현대인이 잃어온 다양한 부분들을 꺼내 인간성 회복의 실마리를 찾았다. 이 레이어들은 신화적 요소, 무의식에 각인된 비과학적이거나 신비적이기까지 한 도깨비불과 같은 이야기, 재개발 부지 아래에 누적되어 과거로부터 전해져 오는 이야기 또는 지명에 얽힌 불쾌하고 묘한 기시감 등과 함께 제의적 표현 요소들 안에 녹아져 나타나게 되었다. ‘애오개’라는 지명에 얽힌 이야기에서 비롯된 영상작업 혹은 그 이야기 안에 담긴 아이들의 한을 풀어주려는 제의적 행위는 비단 과학문명의 거부에만 머무르는 것이 아니라 기술과 제의적 요소를 함께 차용해 비과학적이고 초자연적인 경험을 선사한다. 이는 무의식 속 모성적 원형을 강조하고자 함이며, 연구는 익선동의 생면부지의 어느 할머니가 떠나고 남은 공간에서 발견한 도깨비불에 대한 작업, 반복적이고 수행적인 태도로 무의식 속에 침잠 하게 되는 매듭 작업 등 다양한 표현들로 전개되었다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자는 예술가로서 이야기 전달자를 자처하며 우리가 잊어가고 사회에서 사라져가는 다양한 이야기들을 차용해왔다. 그로 인해 현대인이 잃어가는 신비한 감수성 및 초자연적인 부분 혹은 과학기술의 발달에 끌려가며 내면에 잃어가던 모성적 원형 등을 표현해내고, 발달로 인해 소외되어가던 인간의 주체적 정체성을 회복시키며 인간의 근원에 대한 물음을 던짐으로 인해 인간의 주체적 존엄성을 회복하고자 하였다. 앞으로도 연구자는 현대사회에서 상실되어가는 인간에 대한 영적이고 초자연적인 것 대해 지속적으로 이야기하고, 그로 인해 현대인이 잃어가고 있던 감각과 가치들을 되살리고자 한다.;Modern science technology has been constantly developed by human rational and rational values, and the development has given man a life of affluence. In this sense of problem, I tried to emphasize the importance of stories that have been built under the land we live on to modern people who are moving away from the land of human origin. This research began with the spirituality of the earth and its human origin. I looked critically at the reality that our human dignity is being judged by rational and rational values. Furthermore, I wanted to 50 focus on non-scientific but supernatural things and express these elements. Based on the understanding that art can provide insight into human life and society, it emphasizes the importance of the unconscious archetype as humans are losing in an inhumane age of technological domination, so-called the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The archetype is the concept claimed by psychoanalytic psychologist Jung. It has the characteristics that appear in the creative process of art and is a symbol that has been inherited in the deepest "unconsciousness" of the human spirit, not in the "memory realm" of the individual. I saw problems in modern society, such as the loss of emotional aspects and humanity, or the creation of a stark social atmosphere, begin with the loss we have lost. So I expressed the supernatural sensibility that contemporary modern people are losing by borrowing organic forms and suggestive elements. This research was conducted by touching irrational and supernatural points, not scientific and rational. In order to restore human self-reliance, which has been alienated from the technology of modern society, the story has been told of myths and tales that we have forgotten. The human nature of the modern people mentioned above may be that they are surrounded by numerous horizontal layers created by the development of modern and contemporary civilizations, and live day by day and day to day. I dug up the dirt of the past covered under the concrete road where we walked, and the various metaphors and layers of its dampness, and took out the various parts that modern people had lost and found clues to the recovery of humanity. These layers are represented by ritual elements, stories such as unscientific or mysterious wildfire imprinted on unconsciousness, stories handed down from the past of redevelopment sites, or unpleasantness intertwined with geographical names. The act of offering to release the children's resentment contained in the video work, which stems from the story of the nomination of ‘Aeogae’ not only rejects scientific civilization, but also appropriate technology and ritual elements together to give them an unscientific and supernatural experience. This is to emphasize the archetype in unconsciousness. The research developed into various expressions such as work on a wildfire found in the space left by an old lady at Ikseon-dong's raw site, and a knot work that becomes dormant in unconsciousness with a repetitive and performance attitude. Through this research, I claimed to be a storyteller as an artist and used various stories that we forget and disappear from society. With this, I expressed the mysterious sensibility and supernatural parts of modern people, and the archetypes that were lost inside while being dragged into the development of science and technology. It also sought to restore human self-reliance, which had been alienated by development, and to restore human self-reliance dignity by asking the fundamental questions of human beings. In the future, I will continue to talk about spiritual and supernatural things about humans.
