F. Schubert의 ≪Ges nge des Harfners Op.12≫에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the various musical composition techniques used in the song collection ≪Gesänge des Harfners Op.12≫(1822) by Franz Peter Schubert(1797-1828) from Goethe's poems. This work is a compilation of three songs from three poets of Harfner’s Song, which was inserted in the novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's (1749-1832) 『Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre』(1796). First, this study investigates the composer Schubert's life and the musical background of his day. And it continues to observe the characteristics of his musical achievements and songs, and also the musical composition techniques that used in his songs. Next, the research shows Goethe's life and his view of music, and analyzed the relationship between Goethe and Schubert from the perspective of a literary writer who wrote poetry and a composer who composed music. Lastly, this paper explores the Harfner's situation and emotion through the novel 『Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre』 and based on this, Schubert's ≪Gesänge des Harfners Op.12≫ was analyzed. The focus of the analysis was on the relationship between the poetry and music, and the key of this composition used in the analysis was f minor(Original: a minor). As there are existing studies analyzed with a minor composition which is suitable for the tenor's tessitura, the analysis in this paper will be useful for low voiced vocalists to interpret the songs. Schubert's song, which opened new genre to the 19th-century German Romantic Artist's Song, used a variety of musical composition techniques to characterize romantic music and this attempt aims at a intention of ‘harmony of poetry and music’. Based on this, this study paid attention to Schubert's musical portrayal of the emotion of the Harfner in his song.;본 연구의 목적은 슈베르트(Franz Peter Schubert, 1797-1828)의 가곡 ≪하프 타는 노인의 노래(Gesänge des Harfners) Op.12≫(1822)에 사용된 다양한 음악적 기법이 괴테의 시를 어떻게 그려내고 있는지를 탐구하는 데에 있다. 이 작품은 괴테(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749-1832)의 소설 『빌헬름 마이스터의 수업시대(Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre, 1796)』에 삽입된 3편의 ‘하프 타는 노인의 노래’에 곡을 붙인 것이다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 작곡가 슈베르트의 생애와 시대적, 음악적 배경을 중심으로 그의 음악적 업적과 가곡의 특징을 살펴보고, 그의 가곡을 구성하고 있는 음악적 기법들을 찾아보았다. 이어서 문학가 괴테의 삶과 그의 음악관을 이해하고, ‘음악을 작곡한 작곡가와 시를 창작한 문학가’라는 관점에서 슈베르트와 괴테의 관계를 살펴보았다. 다음으로는 소설 『빌헬름 마이스터의 수업시대』의 내용을 통하여 하프 타는 노인이 처한 상황과 감정을 탐구하고, 이를 기반으로 슈베르트의 ≪하프 타는 노인의 노래 Op.12≫를 분석하였다. 분석의 중심은 시와 음악의 관계에 두었으며, 분석에 사용된 악보의 조성은 f minor(Original: a minor)이다. 테너 음역에 적합한 a minor조성으로 분석된 기존 연구들이 있기에, 본 논문의 분석은 저음역의 성악가들이 곡을 해석하는 데에 유용한 자료가 되기를 바라는 바이다. 19세기 독일 낭만주의 예술가곡의 문을 연 슈베르트의 가곡에는 낭만주의 음악을 특징짓는 작곡 기법들이 사용되었으며, 이러한 시도는‘시와 음악의 일치’라는 하나의 목적을 향하고 있다. 이를 기반으로 본 논문은 하프 타는 노인의 감정을 자신의 가곡에 그려낸 슈베르트의 음악적 묘사에 주목하였다.
