KS A 0011 톤 분류 체계와 계통색명의 대응관계 연구

Abstract

색 이름은 색채의 의미를 전달하고자 할 때 사용되는 유용한 의사소통 방식이다. 그러나 문화에 따라 색채 표현의 차이가 발생하기 때문에 색에 대한 의사소통이 정확하지 못한 부분이 존재하는데, 각 나라에서는 이를 해결하기 위해 색이름체계를 만들어 왔다. 우리나라에서도 산업자원부 국가기술표준원에서 한국산업표준으로 물체색의 색이름 KS A 0011을 제정하였다. KS A 0011은 현재까지 국가색채표준으로 다양한 산업현장이나 교육현장에서 유용하게 활용되며 색채의 정확한 표현에 따른 기준 역할을 하고 있다. KS A 0011이 국가색채표준으로의 실효성을 확보하기 위해서는 실제 사용자의 관점에서 실용성과 편의성을 확인해볼 필요성이 있다. 또한 최근 차순실(2018) 연구에 따르면 기본색이름과 기본색이름의 톤으로 구성된 계통색이름의 색공간에서 톤의 위치와 배열이 색의 삼속성을 통해 살펴보았을 때 지각적으로 규칙성과 등간격성의 미흡한 부분들이 존재하여 색채표준으로서의 일관성과 실효성에 관한 재검토 필요성이 제기되었다. 이러한 선행연구들을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 KS A 0011의 색채표준으로서의 실용성에 대한 재검토를 통해 톤 체계의 불안정성에 대한 실증결과를 확인하고자 한다. 구체적 실험방법으로는 한국어화자들을 대상으로 계통색이름 색공간 내의 톤과 수식어의 대응 관계에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. KS A 0011 톤 분류체계 내의 삼 속성 표시가 불규칙하게 나타난다고 주장한 차순실(2018)과 마찬가지로, 실제 실험자들이 색을 봤을 때 다수의 톤을 KS A 0011 표준체계에 정해져 있는 톤 위치와 일치하지 않는 수식어로 구분하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한국어 수식형용사와 대응되는 영어 수식어도 현재 KS A 0011 톤 체계와 다른 수식어로 구분하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 한국어화자들을 대상으로 실용성을 확인해 본 결과 국가색채표준으로서 KS A 0011의 체계 내 구성의 불안정성과 수식형용사와의 부적합성이 나타나는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과가 국가색채표준으로서의 KS A 0011의 개선 필요성을 위한 기초 자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.;Color names are a useful communication method used to convey the meanings of colors. However, communications about colors are not accurate in some cases because color expressions are different among cultures. Individual countries have made color name systems to solve the foregoing problem. In South Korea too, the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy has established the ‘Object Color Names KS A 0011’ as a ‘Korean Standard’. As a national color standard, 'KS A 0011' has been usefully used in diverse industrial and educational fields and has been playing the role of standards for accurate expressions of colors thus far. For KS A 0011 to secure effectiveness as a national color standard, its practicality and convenience should be checked from the viewpoint of actual users. In addition, according to a recent study conducted by Cha (2018), some of the positions and arrangements of colors and tones in the color space of the systemic color names consisting of basic color names and the tones of the basic color names are perceptually unsatisfactory in terms of regularity and equidistant intervals when seen through the three attributes of colors. Therefore, the necessity to reexamine the consistency and effectiveness of KS A 0011 as a color standard was raised. Based on the previous studies as such, this study is intended to check the empirical results regarding the instability of the tone system through reexamination of the effectiveness of KS A 0011 as a color standard. As for the concrete experimental method, experiments were carried out on the corresponding relationships between the tones and modifiers in the color space of the systemic color names with Korean speakers. The results of this study are as follows. As with the study findings of Cha(2018), who argued that the indications of the three attributes in the KS A 0011 tone classification system were shown to be irregular, it was found that actual experimernters identified colors with modifiers that did not correspond to the positions of the tones determined in KS A 0011 standard system when they saw colors. In addition, it was found that the experimenters identified English modifiers corresponding to Korean modifying adjectives with different modifiers from those in the current KS A 0011 tone system. These results can be interpreted as indicating the instability of composition and incompatibility of modifying adjectives in the KS A 0011 system as a national color standard based on the results of checking of the practicality with Korean speakers. Finally, it is expected that the findings of this study can be used as basic data for the improvement of KS A 0011 as a national color standard.
