Abstract
;Modern art directly reveals the liberation of traditional style of expression. Today, new attempts beyond the traditional category of expression are more required in the fashion design field, and one of these is the design that emphasizes the formation of asymmetry as an experimental design of various shapes. Asymmetry is a quantitative or numerical imbalance in mathematical meaning, but it can be expressed with visual stability and dynamic and diverse designs through diagonal asymmetric balance and repetitive asymmetric balance. The purpose of this study is to present a new alternative based on a modern modelling sense for expression of fashion design elements by making fashion design works in real life based on TR pattern technique, which applies asymmetric modelling. In particular, three-dimensional works are presented that emphasize asymmetric formability by focusing on the form among the fashion design elements by actively utilizing the characteristics of the TR pattern technique. The content and methods of the study are as follows. First, the concept of asymmetric formulation was summarized through a literature review on the subject of basic design. In particular, data were investigated along with the concept of symmetry to understand asymmetry. First of all we took a way to find the basic vocabulary concept and then to find the expanded concept. Second, we wanted to examine the formative properties of asymmetry by element of the model. Characteristic was described around lines, faces, shapes, colors, and materials. Third, this concept and method of production were examined based on representative books established and named TR pattern technique. In particular, the data was supplemented by adding online data that demonstrated the TR pattern technique. We also searched for recent fashion design cases and analyzed the application cases to see how TR pattern techniques were expressed. The fashion design for the analysis was limited to cases from 2000 onwards. Fourth, based on the theoretical consideration above, fashion design works of TR pattern technique application expressing asymmetric formative formulation were produced. The entire five sets were conceived, and the work was planned to show individual asymmetry in each work, with asymmetric formality as a common basic design principle. Fifth, the scope of application was expanded by focusing as much on asymmetry as possible when applying TR pattern technique in production. Although the basic principle of TR pattern technique is mainly to implement cubes of regular polygons or repeat implementations of regular intervals, the length, height, and spacing of sides of the shape are different to emphasize the formulation of asymmetry. The conclusions obtained from this study are as follows. First, after collecting and organizing concepts that stipulate asymmetry from the perspective of basic construction and basic design, we found that many professional books were explaining the concept of asymmetry, including the concept of balance. This is also true of the definition of symmetry corresponding to the opposite meaning. Therefore, discussing asymmetry and symmetry from a formative point of view was not different from discussing asymmetric and symmetrical balance after all. Second, the results of examining the formative characteristics of asymmetry through the form factors such as line, face, shape and shape, color, and material feeling are as follows. With regard to asymmetric formulation, it was noted that the possibility of the utilization of the oblique lines was particularly visible from the aspect of the line, and that asymmetric structures could be effectively employed through the arrangement that recognized the relationship of the faces from the aspect. Furthermore, since the shape and shape project a similar feeling to the physical and psychological effects of the lines and sides, it was possible to sum up the possibility of using the aforementioned oblique lines and how to link the relationship between the sides in three-dimensional form. Color and material texture are also important elements that can express asymmetry, both of which have properties that accompany complex sensitivities such as weight and so are thought to be capable of using complex asymmetry. Third, in the preceding study on asymmetry, we have already paid attention to cutting techniques, manufacturing techniques, and methods of production of modern fashion, and mentioned the possibility of active asymmetric form implementation, so we have chosen TR pattern technique in accordance with these suggestions. The data related to TR pattern technique were collected to organize a total of 12 detailed techniques, and five of them were selected to freely express asymmetric formulation, representing the concept of the technique. The methods include 3D Vortex, 3D Box Integration, 3D Pattern Puzzle, Origami Concept and Origami Pocket. Fourth, asymmetric fashion works were produced around techniques that best demonstrated the effects of radical silhouettes, stereoscopic details and color contrast by linking the application of the TR pattern technique with the analysis results. In order to maximize the formation of asymmetry in TR pattern technique that can implement various models, we were able to confirm the possibility of changing the height and angle of shapes through experimentation. In particular, unexpected design was obtained in that it was difficult to predict changes in the final silhouette in the process of different locations, shapes, heights, and angles of the TR design line. Fifth, due to the characteristics of TR pattern technique, flat fabric, regardless of the orientation of the fabric, was suitable in the production of the work, and after experimenting with flat fabric of various thicknesses, the fabric of 2 way 10’s cotton selected and both circular and polymorphic types could be expressed in a natural form. PU-coated flat fabric that worked well to accentuate the edges of polygons in their individual form. This study, which focuses on elements such as lines, faces, shapes, and shapes to express asymmetric formations, has several suggestions as a follow-up study. In particular, since the materials and aspects of colors of the work were studied with restrictions on purpose, we propose a study using more colorful colors, patterns and textures, and hope that the results and possibilities obtained from this process can help build a more diverse area of expression in fashion design in the future.
