뉴트로 패션의 특징을 표현한 패션일러스트레이션 연구

Abstract

Unlike in the past, which simply conveyed fashion information, fashion Illustration today is increasingly playing its role as an art work that reflects important times. Recently, the New-tro, which reinterprets old things and accepts them as new content, has emerged as an important issue in various fields. On the other hand, related research is still insufficient in fashion compared to other fields. In this study, we researched fashion illustrations that express the characteristics of fashion with New-tro. New-tro is especially drawing more attention here and is appearing in various fields, including media, performances, products, spaces and regions, as well as fashion. Unlike retro, New-tro is reinterpreting its past symbolic features in a variety of ways, focusing on the interest and fun of unfamiliar familiarity, rather than on recreating them with nostalgia sensibilities. To express the characteristics of this New-tro, a silk screen technique was used, which has excellent visual effects and can emphasize superposition and analog sensibility. This study aims to recognize the importance of the New-tro by expressing the characteristics of the New-tro as a fashion Illustration, to emphasize the role of fashion Illustration as a medium to communicate the times situation, and to expand the area of expression of fashion Illustration through the grafting of various techniques. The content and methods of this study were first explored by studying the pre-researching of the volume, the dissertation, etc. and the background of the introduction of the New-tro, and the development of the New-tro in the New-tro. In addition, through fashion magazines and related sites, we analyzed the characteristics of New-tro fashion with a focus on collection cases from 2018 F/W to 2020 S/S, where New-tro appeared in earnest. Second, the concept, production process, type, and features of silk screen chosen as a technique of work were reviewed through the review of book book and dissertation, and illustration cases that applied the technique were collected and analyzed. Based on the characteristic features of representative New-tro derived, six fashion illustrations using silk screen techniques were produced. The theoretical considerations of this study and the conclusions obtained through the production of the work are as follows. First, through a theoretical study, we could see that New-tro is different from retro in terms of ‘reinterpretation’ of old things that were not experienced in terms of interest and fun, and that it is being developed in various fields such as media, performances, exhibitions, products, fashion, space, and regions. By incorporating the characteristics of fashion and region into the work among the analyzed New-tro, we were able to emphasize the sensibility of the New-tro more. Second, elements of the symbolic silhouette, items, materials and colors of the New-tro could be expressed in color, while elements of the region such as Ikseon-dong and Euljiro could be given a sense of visual effect and space by color contrast by colorless representation in the background. In addition, various techniques such as coloring by acrylic paints and collage using real fabric were combined with silk screens, thus generating visual interest through contrast and bumps with the background. Third, the silk screen technique was effective in the expression of the New-tro because both the passive production process and the result of the expression have analog sensibility. Also, by using silk screens on transparent acrylic plate materials, the superposition of several acrylic plates could be emphasized, effectively expressing the past and present coexistence shown in the New-tro. Fourth, as a fashion Illustration to record fashion information, we were able to expand the role of fashion Illustration by expressing social phenomena together as to reflect the times situation at the same time as expressing the characteristics of representative New-tro as the facts. This study is about fashion Illustration, which expresses the characteristics of fashion by New-tro, which can confirm the importance of the New-tro, and maximizes the expression of the New-tro by combining fashion with region, material and technique. We hope that this study will expand the study of fashion Illustration, which reflects important period trends such as New-tro.;오늘날 패션일러스트레이션은 단순히 패션 정보를 전달했던 과거와는 달리 중요한 시대적 상황을 반영하는 예술 작품으로서의 역할이 점차 증대되고 있다. 최근 다양한 분야에서 밀레니얼 세대를 중심으로 옛 것을 재해석하여 새로운 콘텐츠로 받아들이는 뉴트로가 중요한 이슈로 떠오르고 있다. 반면 타 분야에 비해 패션에서는 관련 연구가 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 뉴트로 패션의 특징을 표현한 패션일러스트레이션에 관하여 연구하였다. 뉴트로는 특히 국내에서 더 주목을 받고 있으며 패션뿐만 아니라 매체, 공연, 제품, 공간, 지역 등 다양한 분야에서 나타나고 있다. 뉴트로는 레트로와는 달리 과거의 상징적인 특징들을 노스탤지어 감성으로 재현하기 보다는 경험해보지 못한 낯설음에 대한 흥미와 재미를 중심으로 다채롭게 재해석되고 있다. 이와 같은 뉴트로의 특징을 표현하기 위해 시각적 효과가 우수하고 중첩과 아날로그 감성을 강조할 수 있는 실크스크린 기법을 활용하였다. 본 연구는 뉴트로의 특징을 패션일러스트레이션으로 표현함으로써 뉴트로의 중요성을 인식시키고, 시대적 상황을 소통할 수 있는 매개체로서의 패션일러스트레이션의 역할을 강조하며, 다양한 기법의 접목을 통해 패션일러스트레이션의 표현 영역을 확대하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 첫째, 단행본, 학위논문 등의 선행연구와 관련 문헌의 고찰을 통해 뉴트로의 정의 및 등장 배경에 대해 알아보고, 각 분야별 뉴트로의 전개 양상을 살펴보았다. 또한 패션잡지와 관련 사이트를 통해 뉴트로가 본격적으로 등장한 2018 F/W 부터 2020 S/S까지의 컬렉션 사례를 중심으로 뉴트로 패션의 특징을 분석하였다. 둘째, 단행본과 학위논문의 고찰을 통해 작품의 기법으로 선택한 실크스크린의 개념과 제작 과정, 종류와 특징을 살펴보고, 해당 기법을 응용한 일러스트레이션 사례를 수집하여 분석하였다. 도출된 대표적인 뉴트로의 특징을 중심으로 실크스크린 기법을 활용한 패션일러스트레이션 6점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 이론적 고찰 및 작품 제작을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이론 고찰을 통하여 뉴트로는 흥미와 재미의 관점에서 경험하지 못한 옛 것을 ‘재해석’ 한다는 점에서 레트로와 차이가 있으며 매체, 공연, 전시, 제품, 패션, 공간, 지역 등 다양한 분야에서 전개되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 분석된 뉴트로 분야 중 패션과 지역의 특징을 함께 작품에 접목함으로써 뉴트로의 감성을 보다 강조할 수 있었다. 둘째, 뉴트로의 상징적인 실루엣, 아이템, 소재, 색채의 요소들은 유채색으로 표현하고, 익선동, 을지로와 같은 지역의 요소는 배경에 무채색으로 표현함으로써 색채 대비에 의한 시각적 효과와 공간감을 부여할 수 있었다. 또한 아크릴 물감에 의한 채색과 실제 원단을 활용한 콜라주 등 다양한 기법을 실크스크린과 결합함으로써 배경과의 대비와 요철감을 통해 시각적 흥미를 유발할 수 있었다. 셋째, 실크스크린 기법은 수동적인 제작 과정과 그로 인한 표현 결과 모두 아날로그 감성을 지니고 있어 뉴트로의 표현에 효과적이었다. 또한 투명한 아크릴판 소재에 실크스크린을 함으로써, 여러 개의 아크릴판의 중첩을 통해 원근감을 강조할 수 있었으며, 뉴트로에 나타난 과거와 현재의 공존을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있었다. 넷째, 패션 정보를 기록하는 패션일러스트레이션으로서 대표적인 뉴트로의 특징을 고증적으로 표현함과 동시에 시대적 상황을 반영하는 매개체로서 사회 현상을 함께 표현함으로써 패션일러스트레이션의 역할을 확대할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 뉴트로 패션의 특징을 표현한 패션일러스트레이션에 관한 것으로, 뉴트로의 중요성을 확인할 수 있었으며, 패션과 지역, 소재와 기법의 결합으로 뉴트로의 표현을 극대화할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 뉴트로와 같은 중요한 시대적 흐름을 반영한 패션일러스트레이션에 관한 연구가 확대되길 기대한다.
