R. Schumann의《Piano Sonata No. 1 F# Minor, Op. 11》연구

Abstract

본 논문은 19세기 작곡가인 로베르트 슈만(Robert Schumann, 1810~1856)의 《Piano Sonata No. 1 F# Minor, Op. 11》에 대한 연구이다. 19세기 낭만주의 시대는 개인의 자아와 주관을 중요하게 생각했던 시기로, 당시의 작곡가들은 독창적이고 실험적이면서 감정과 상상력을 기반으로 창작했다. 슈만은 19세기 초 낭만음악의 대표적인 작곡가인 동시에 음악 평론가이다. 그는 「음악신보(Neue Zeitschrift für Musik)」라는 잡지를 발간하여 10년간 편집장으로 활동하며 장래유망한 작곡가들을 소개하고, 음악을 비평하는 등 당시의 음악 발전에 크게 기여하였다. 그리고 이 잡지에서 자신의 의견을 피력하기 위해 만든 가상의 인물을 등장시키고, 이 중 대조되는 성격의 두 인물을 필명으로 써서 작품에 나타내기도 했다. 또한 문학과 깊은 관련이 있는데, 장 파울(Jean Paul, 1763-1825), E.T.A 호프만(Ernest Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, 1776-1822) 등의 문학가에게 영향을 받아 작곡했다. 그리고 허구로 만든 대조되는 성격의 두 인물인 플로레스탄과 오이제비우스를 음악으로 표현했다. 그는 3개의 소나타(Op. 11, 22, 14)를 작곡했고, 그 외 3개의 어린이를 위한 소나타(Op.118)도 있다. 그 중 본 연구의 주제인《Piano Sonata No. 1 F# Minor, Op. 11》은 규모가 큰 작품으로 슈만의 첫 번째 소나타이다. 이 소나타는‘플로레스탄과 오이제비우스로부터 클라라에게 헌정됨’이라고 기록해 출판했고, 두 인물의 대조되는 성격이 돋보이는 작품이다. 순환형식의 구조로 동기가 순환되어 전 악장에 등장한다. 자신의 가곡인 ‘An Anna’의 선율을 인용해서 제1악장 도입부 중간부분과 제2악장의 주제 선율로 사용함으로써 악장간의 연관성 뿐 아니라 낭만주의 시대의 대표 장르인 가곡의 선율을 피아노 음악으로 재탄생시켜 음악의 서정성을 나타낸다. 그리고 클라라 모티브라고 불리우는 ‘5도 음정 모티브’가 등장하는데 이는 모든 악장에서 사용되어 곡의 통일성을 보여준다. 이 곡은 총 4개의 악장으로 되어있는데 제1악장은 소나타 알레그로, 제2악장은 3부 형식의 아리아, 제3악장은 복합 3부와 론도의 결합으로 구성된 스케르초와 인터메조, 제4악장은 론도형식으로 되어있다. 각 악장은 급작스럽고 격정적이며 빠른 플로레스탄의 성격과 이성적이고 서정적이며 부드러운 오이제비우스의 성격이 대조적으로 드러난다. 화성은 예기치 않게 전조하고 리듬의 변화도 자주 일어난다. 화성은 반음계, 증화음, 비화성음 등이 많이 쓰인다. 이러한 특징을 지닌 슈만의《Piano Sonata No. 1 F# Minor, Op. 11》은 고전주의 전통 소나타에서 볼 수 없었던 낭만성을 나타내어 피아노 문헌사에서 중요한 작품으로 자리매김한다. ;This paper is a study of the piano piece 《Piano Sonata No.1 F# Minor, Op. 11》written by 19th-century composer Robert Schumann (1810-1856). In this study, I will examine Schumann’s life, piano works, and his《Piano Sonata No.1 F# Minor, Op. 11》. Romanticism in the 19th century is a style that valued individual subjectivity, Romantic composers composed based on emotion and imagination. Schumann was a reprensentative composer and critic of the early nineteenth century. He published the magazine <Neue Zeitschrift für Musik>, which was edited and published for 10 years, introduced promising composers, and criticized music. He created two fictional characters that contrasted with each other, written under specific pen names and presented them in his works. Most of Schumann’s piano pieces were written in his early period of composition, and were closely related to literature, which was written by such as Jean Paul (176-1825) and Ernest Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (1776-1822). The fictional characters of Florestan and Eusebius are expessed as the contrasting character of the work. Schumann composed 《Three Sonatas for Children Op. 118》 and three mature sonatas (Op. 11, 22, 14). 《Piano Sonata No. 1 F # Minor, Op. 11》 is Schumann's first sonata. This thesis is written for the purpose of understanding this work. The sonata was published by indicating " dedicated to Clara from Florestan and Eusebius". This is a sonata that highlights the contrasting characteristics of the two characters. The structure is cyclical, which refers to the circulation of motives and their appearances in all movements. Clara's motif, that is "Five-degree Motives," which appears in all movements and shows a link to the work's unity. The sonata consists of four movements, the first movement in sonata allegro form, the second in three-part form, the third in the composite tenary form combined with the classical rondo, and the fourth in a modified rondo form. Each movement reveals in contrast the character of the sudden, passionate figure of Florestan, and the character of the rational, lyrical and soft Eusebius. The formal structure is often foreshadowed by unexpected modulation and the changes in rhythm occur frequently. Chromatic scale, alterd chords, and non-harmonic tones are also used. It is a work that shows new perspectives and musical characteristics of the Romantic period Sonata.
