해체된 도시 표현을 통한 분노와 상실의 이미지 구현 연구

Abstract

Throughout the history of mankind, mankind has grown rapidly in all fields, including politics, economy, science, technology, life, etc. over the past 100 years, and has made remarkable progress. Modern society is more prosperous than ever materially. There is enough wealth and food, science and technology is developing endlessly, and human life has become so rich that it is incomparable to the past. Human beings in modern society do not rush to fulfill their instinctual needs. Nevertheless, humans in modern society are constantly feeling deficient and dissatisfied, and are not satisfied with their own lives. The modern man constantly desires, feeling that he lacks something other than survival. When people feel lacking and unable to meet their needs, they experience feelings such as anxiety, anger and loss. The desire felt by modern people living in modern society is complex and varied, and this leads to chronic anxiety through their daily lives. Also, if desire is not met, it leads to feelings such as anger and loss. The majority of modern people have a desire to be recognized by others, and if they are not, they become angry. Also, among the many desires of modern people, the desire to unconditionally win in competitions, the desire to achieve quick and easy success, and the desire to rise to a high position results to emptiness and loss, even when accomplished. The causes of these endless, excessive desires and the resulting anger and loss are in the competitive social structure of the capitalism society. This research aims to find the structural causes of anger and loss that modern people generally feel in modern society, and to visually express the anger and loss that modern people feel. This study describes the causes of anxiety, anger and loss, which are universal emotions felt by modern people, in a competitive social structure. Entering the modern society, fierce competition has deeply established in our lives, and this competitive social structure processes constant anxiety, anger, helplessness and loss. It also describes that anger and sense of loss have always existed throughout the history of mankind, but is expressed differently in the modern society. As for the content of expression, forms of highly risen building are brought as an object of competitive social structure that provides anger and loss to modern people – by destroying these forms, breaking them down with force or heating them with high-temperature winds, visually expresses anger and loss over competitive social structure. To maximize such anger and loss, 3D-print pen was used to create fragile, thin lines that are tangled into complex structures. Through these works, I aim to express visual catharsis and create an opportunity to think about the overly competitive social structure that creates socially-problematic emotions such as anxiety and anger, emptiness and heartbreak.;인류의 역사를 통틀어 인류는 지난 100여 년간 정치, 경제, 과학, 기술, 생활 등, 모든 분야에서 급속도로 성장했고, 눈부신 발전을 이루었다. 현대 사회는 물질적으로 그 어느 때보다도 풍요로운 시대다. 부와 식량이 충분하고, 과학기술은 끝없이 발전하고 있으며, 인간의 삶은 과거와는 비교도 할 수 없을 정도로 윤택해졌다. 현대 사회의 인간은 본능적인 욕구를 채우기 위해 급급해 하지 않는다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현대사회의 인간은 끊임없이 결핍감과 불만족을 느끼며 자신의 삶에 대해 만족하지 못한다. 현대인은 생존이 아닌 다른 ‘무언가’가 부족하다고 느끼며 끊임없이 욕망하고 있다. 이렇게 원하는 것을 채우지 못하고 부족함을 느낄 때 인간은 불안과 분노, 상실감과 같은 감정을 경험한다. 현대 사회를 살아가는 현대인이 느끼는 욕망은 복잡하고 다양하며, 이로 인해 일상생활에서 만성적인 불안감을 느낀다. 또, 욕망이 충족되지 못하면 분노와 상실감과 같은 감정으로 이어진다. 대다수의 현대인은 타인에게 인정받고자 하는 욕망을 가지고 있으며 인정받지 못하면 분노한다. 또한, 현대인의 여러 욕망들 중 경쟁에서 무조건적으로 이기고 싶은 욕망, 쉽고 빠른 성공만을 원하는 욕망, 높은 지위에 올라서고 싶은 욕망들은 충족되어도 공허함과 상실감이 남는다. 이러한 끊임없고, 과대한 욕망들과 그로 인해 느끼는 분노와 상실감과 같은 감정의 원인은 자본주의 사회체제의 경쟁적 사회 구조에 있다. 연구자는 현대 사회를 살아가는 현대인이 보편적으로 느끼는 분노와 상실감의 원인을 현대의 사회 구조에서 찾고 현대인이 느끼는 분노와 상실감을 시각적으로 표현하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 이에 본 연구는 현대인이 느끼는 보편적인 감정인 불안과 분노, 상실감의 원인을 경쟁적 사회 구조에서 찾아 서술한다. 현대 사회로 들어서면서 치열한 경쟁이 우리 삶에 자리 잡게 되었고, 이러한 경쟁적 사회 구조가 인간에게 끊임없는 불안과 분노, 무력감과 상실감을 느끼게 하는 과정을 설명한다. 또, 분노와 상실감이라는 감정이 인류의 역사와 함께 지속되어왔지만 현대 사회에서는 이전과는 다른 양상으로 표출되고 있음을 서술한다. 표현내용으로는 현대인에게 분노와 상실감을 제공하는 경쟁적 사회 구조의 오브제로써 도시의 고층 건물의 형태를 찾아 표현하고, 이를 힘을 주어 부수거나 고온의 바람으로 가열하여 형태를 무너뜨려 경쟁적 사회 구조에 대한 분노와 상실감을 표현한다. 이를 시각화하기 위한 재료로써 3D 프린팅 펜을 사용하여 얇고 가는 선을 만들어 복잡하게 엉켜있는 선적 구조로 표현하여 더욱더 분노와 상실감의 감정을 극대화하였다. 연구자는 이러한 작업으로 시각적 카타르시스를 표현하며, 불안과 분노, 공허함과 상실감과 같은 사회 문제적 감정을 일으키는 지나친 경쟁적 사회 구조에 대해 생각해 보는 계기를 마련하고자 한다.
