Abstract
Originally, the Gyeonggisori and Seodosori were similar to each other, so they were called as “Gyeongseodosori”. However, since the 1970s, The Gyeongseodosori has been divided into Gyeonggisori and Seodosori, and the research on them have been done separately. Therefore, it is difficult to find a study that specifically discusses the difference of melody and sigimseh between Gyeonggisori and Seodosori. In this thesis, differences between the Gyeonggisori major ‘Gye-wol Mook’ and Seodosori major ‘Bok-nyeo O’are analyzed based on the melody of , , , and . In addition, saseol, saseol-buchimsae, melody, and Sigimseh of four folk songs, mentioned above, are studied based on the life and musical activities of two contemporary Gye-wol Mook and Bok-nyeo O folk singers as follows. First, since the saseol of folk songs is freely attached, the structure of the saseol is the most indeterminate element, and it is sung differently by folk singers even though the structure of saseol and meaning are the same. As a result of comparing the saseol of two folk singers, Gye-wol Mook and Bok-nyeo O, the front choruses and the latter choruses of and are called as meaningless mouth Taryeong. Also, the overall contents of saseol are same. However, there is a difference in saseol-buchimsae. The difference of saseol-buchimsae between the relatively fast beat of and , which have similarity of more than 80%, is more remarkable than that of slow beat of and , which has similarity of 66% and 50%, respectively. Second, as a result of comparing and analyzing the overall melody structure of transcribed four folk songs, , , , and , with the G ♭ sign, It was confirmed that Gye-wol Mook sang monotonously rather than Bok-nyeo O. In addition, Gye-wol Mook had a tendency to draw a note for a long time, and song of Bok-nyeo O show lots of repetition of note. The lowest note, highest note, and appearance frequencies are the same. In all four songs, the lowest note is A ♭, and the highest note of the is c` ♭, and the highest note of the remaining three songs is the same as d` ♭ note. Third, the Sigimseh was compared based on melody of Gye-wol Mook and Bok-nyeo O. It was confirmed that Gye-wol Mook used ‘Milgogamnen-pyo’ while Bok-nyeo O used ‘Nerinen-pyo’ and ‘giknen-pyo’ even in the same melody part. As a result of this study, it was found that although Gye-wol Mook and Bok-nyeo O used the same saseol and saseol-buchimsae, but melody and Sigimseh were different according to folk singers. Gye-wol Mook focused on the main melody and used a number of similar Sigimseh, whereas Bok-nyeo O repeatedly used a specific Sigimseh around the descending melody. Different features were observed when the Gyeonggisori major and Seodosori major sang with the characteristics of individual skill even if they sang the same folk song which was representative of the folk song of Seodo. Through this paper, I hope that the performers know the musical characteristics of the four above folk songs, and features of the Gyeonggisori and Seodosori, and apply the appropriate expression for each song to help in the actual performance. Also, studies on This research raises the need for continuous research for a richer performance of the performers in the actual stage. In addition, I hope that the study of the difference between the majors of Gyeonggisori and the majors of Seodosori based on melodies of , , , and can be actively conducted in various fields.
