김기림 시의 아이러니 연구

Abstract

본 논문의 목적은 아이러니 개념을 통해 김기림 시에 나타난 다양한 차원의 대립 양상을 규명하는 데에 있다. 김기림 시에 나타난 표현 기법 및 주제의식 차원에서의 의의를 아이러니를 통해 밝히고자 한 본 연구의 입장은 신비평 이론의 문학관에 근거한다. 이를 위해 뮤크(D.C. Muecke), 부스(Wayne C. Booth), 와일드(Alan Wilde)의 아이러니 개념을 중심으로 김기림 시에 나타난 모더니즘적 아이러니의 특성을 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 이를 ‘긴장성’, ‘이면성’, ‘양면성’의 세 층위로 재구성하여 김기림이 시론에서 추구한 모더니티와의 연관성을 살핀 뒤, 김기림의 개별 시 작품에서 나타나는 아이러니 양상을 분석하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 양 극단이 비유에 의해 접해짐으로써 긴장이 발생하는 양상을 살펴보았다. A절에서는 병치은유에 의해 시어에 대한 고정관념이 배반되고 이를 통해 시에 이질적인 풍경이 그려지는 양상을, B절에서는 의인법에 의해 시적 화자가 자신의 목표 지향을 폭로하게 되는 양상을 분석하였다. 이들 시 작품을 통해 은유에 의해 시어에 새로운 의미가 부여되는 과정 및 시적 화자가 이상에 대해 갖는 태도를 확인할 수 있었다. Ⅲ장에서는 서사성이 두드러지는 시에서 시적 상황에 이면성이 부여되며 이를 통해 문학 작품 내에 현실이 재구성되는 양상을 살펴보았다. A절에서는 현실을 불특정하게 재현하고 있는 시 작품을 분석함으로써 이들 작품이 목표하고 있는 것이 비극성 자체를 묘사하는 것임을, B절에서는 현실을 지시적으로 재현하고 있는 시 작품에서 현실 비판의 목소리를 예각화하기 위해 취하는 여러 기법들이 사용되었음을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 김기림 시 작품에서 현실의식이 시 작품에 구현되며 모더니티를 확보하는 방식을 확인할 수 있었다. Ⅳ장에서는 시적 화자의 어조에 나타나는 양면성을 분석함으로써 시적 화자가 시에 그려낸 질서가 위장된 것이고, 어조로서 이와 같은 모순을 표현한 것은 위장된 질서를 객관화시켜야 가능한 것임을 확인하였다. A절에서는 위악적인 화자가 시에 낙원을 구축하였으나 이는 한시적일 수밖에 없음을, B절에서는 관조적인 화자가 세계의 갈등을 봉합하고자 하였으나 결국 실패할 수밖에 없음을 확인하였다. 모순을 전제로 하고 있으나 이들은 시적 화자가 특정한 의미를 전달하는 데에 있어 화법을 적극적으로 활용한 사례에 해당된다. 본 연구는 김기림 시에 나타난 다양한 차원의 대립 양상을 아이러니 개념을 통해 분석함으로써 김기림 시에 대한 이해를 높이고자 하였다. 김기림 시에서 아이러니는 비유에서 서사와 시적 진실까지, 가장 작은 단위에서부터 가장 큰 단위로 나아가며 발생한다. 이는 김기림이 시 창작에 있어 갖추고자 했던 객관적 태도가 각기 다른 층위에서 반영된 결과로, 김기림이 구축하고자 했던 시의 모더니티와 밀접한 관련을 갖는다. 본 연구가 모더니스트였던 김기림이 시대에 요구에 부응하기 위해 가졌을 문제의식, 그리고 그가 찾고자 했던 ‘새로운 시’의 내용과 양식을 규명하는 데에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다. ;This study aims to examine multi-dimensional aspects of conflicts shown from poems by Kim Ki-rim through irony. The study pursues investigating the significance in a dimension of expressive techniques and thematic consciousness shown from poems by Kim Ki-rim through irony. Its perspective is based on the literary viewpoint of the theory of new criticism. Hence, concepts of irony used for this study are ones introduced by D.C. Muecke, Wayne C. Booth, Alan Wilde and all of them have a lot to do with modernism. This study reconstructed them into three layers including ‘tension’, ‘inside substance’ and ‘double sidedness’ and reviewed their connection with modernity pursued from poetics of Kim Ki-rim, analyzing ironic aspects in his individual poems. Chapter Ⅱ examined an aspect where both extremes are close to each other by metaphor so tension is generated. Section A analyzed an aspect where stereotypes of the poetic language are betrayed by diaphor so heterogeneous scenery is depicted in poems. An aspect where persona discloses its desire through personification was analyzed in Section B. These poems have a connection with objectivism of Kim Ki-rim and this research identified a process where a new meaning is given to the poetic language by metaphor through the poetic analysis. Chapter Ⅲ investigated an aspect where reality is reconstructed in literary works through stories of inside substance in poems with striking narrativity. Section A analyzed poems representing the reality in an unspecific manner so identified the thing these works are portraying is a tragedy of the world itself. Section B examined a process to make a voice for criticism of the reality acute in poems which represent the reality in an ostensive manner. Therefore, the study could find out how sense of reality in poetics of Kim Ki-rim is realized in the poems and how it secures modernity. Chapter Ⅳ examined that the order depicted by persona in the poetry is the thing disguised through analysis on the double sidedness shown from the truth of poems. Section A pointed out that persona pretending to be evil built paradise in the poetry but it is forced to be arbitrary. Section B attempted to see an aspect where contemplative persona longs for stitching conflicts of the world up but ends up with failure. Even if they are based on contradictions, they are cases where persona used diction actively in communicating certain meaning and it is related to modernity pursued in the art of conversation and objectivism on writing by Kim Ki-rim. This study intended to increase understanding of poems by Kim Ki-rim through analysis on multi-dimensional aspects of conflicts shown from his poems using a concept of irony. Besides, it is expected to contribute to shedding light on critical consciousness modernist Kim Ki-rim had to meet the needs of the times and also contents and styles of ‘new poetry’ he wanted to discover.
