이중용기

Abstract

본 연구는 기존의 용기(container)가 가지고 있던 기본적 요소들을 이해하고 그것을 다르게 보는 작가의 관점을 통한 공예 상품이 가지게 되는 방향에 대한 연 구 과정을 담고있다. 각각의 용기를 제작하고 그것들을 결합하는 과정을 통해 새로운 형태와 쓰임을 제시하는 이중용기를 만드는 실험을 하였다. 용기는 무언가를 담는 수동적인 기능을 가지고 있다면, 공예품의 미(美)은 작품으로써 우리의 공간에 어우러지는 능동적인 성격을 취하고 있다. 작품의 연구 과정은 크게 이해하기, 결정하기, 표현하기로 나누어 진행되며 그 과정들은 다음과 같다. ·이해하기: 기존의 용기에 대해 이해하는 과정을 거친 후 ·결정하기: 작품제작의 적절한 성형방법과 기법을 선택 후 디자인을 결정한다. ·표현하기:용기들의 결합을 통해 새로운 형태를 찾고,표면 장식을 한다. 이러한 과정을 통하여 새로운 용기를 제안하기위해 기존의 용기의 형태 특징을 살펴보았고, 전형적인 형식이 있음을 인지하였다. 그 중에서도 의례적인 용기의 특징을 살려 제작하기로 하였으며 그 높이를 결정하는데 있어서 굽다리를 붙이는 것이 아니라 형태 자체의 높이를 부풀릴 수 있는 이중기 기법으로 제작된 도자용 기를 제작하고자 하였다. 제작된 단위체들을 서로 맞대어 붙이는 방식으로 위와 아래가 상호 교환이 되는 형태로 제작하였으며, 성형과정에서 높이를 자유자재로 조절하여 시각적인 높낮이를 주고자 하였다. 단위체들은 서로 색과, 표현기법, 높이, 크기를 달리하여 결합되었을 때 다양한 형태를 나타내게 된다. 또한 이러한 방법으로 제작된 용기는 기존의 용기들이 물체를 담아두는 역할을 충실히 하지만, 담기지 않았을 때는 장식적인 기능을 함으로써 같은 형태의 물건이 생산되는 사회 속에 공예품이 가지는 역할을 모색하고자 하였다.;Based on the double using container that understands the basic elements of existing containers and sees them differently, this study explores the orientation of craft items. By making each monolith and combining them, the artist experimented with creating a double walled container that suggested new forms and uses. Compared to a container with a passive purpose of containing something, a craft item has a proactive attitude that blends into our space as an artwork. The study process of the artwork was largely classified into understanding, determining, and expressing. Each of the process is as follows. • Understanding: Being fully aware of the exsiting theoretical understandings of a container and selecting a main theory at work. • Determining: determining the appropriate molding methods and techniques for the artwork and processing design • Expressing: Finding a shape through the combination of units and contemplating the decoration of the surface of the container. This study examined the characteristics of the existing types of containers to propose a new container and recognized the existence of a typical form frame. Among them, emphasizing the characteristics of tall container which is dignified and ritualized, the artist tried to make a ceramic container using a double walled technique to expand the volume, rather than adding other elements to determine the height. The artist produced a shape in which the upper and lower parts are mutually exchanged by attaching the created monoliths to each other. Also, the artist adjusted the height freely to give visual height gaps. Because of their different colors, presentation techniques, heights, and sizes, the monoliths exhibited various forms when combined. Although these containers satisfy the primary role of holding contents like regular containers, they also act as objects without contents. Therefore, the artist aimed to reflect on the orientation of craftwork in the society where the same type of objects are manufactured.
