블록체인 기술 기반 신규 비즈니스 모델의 성공 요인에 대한 연구

Abstract

4차 산업 혁명 시대를 맞이하여 기업들은 경쟁력 강화와 혁신을 도모하기 위해 4차 산업 혁명 기술을 도입하고 있다. 이런 상황에서 블록체인 기술은 중앙에 집중된 컨트롤 타워 없이 모든 참여자들이 거래 내역을 인증하고 저장하는 탈중앙화 특성과 복잡한 암호화 기법을 이용하여 높은 보안성을 달성할 수 있기 때문에 4차 산업 혁명 시대의 인프라 기술이 될 것이라 예상되어 각광받고 있다. 또한 블록체인 기술을 이용하여 새로운 제품이나 서비스를 선보이기 위한 비즈니스 모델을 개발하고, 비즈니스 모델에 대한 설명을 기술한 백서를 발행하고 사업 진행을 위해 코인을 판매하여 자금을 공모하는 ICO나 토큰 세일 등의 행위가 나타나고 있다. 하지만 ICO나 토큰 세일을 통해 쉽게 투자를 유치할 수 있다는 점을 악용하는 사람들이 블록체인 기술에 대한 이용 계획 없이 백서를 작성하여 자금을 유치하는 일이 잦아지고, 투자자들은 해당 블록체인 기술 이용 신규 프로젝트가 블록체인 기술에 대한 명확한 이해를 바탕으로 수립된 것인지 확인할 방법이 없는 상태로 투자를 진행하고 있다. 따라서 이런 상황을 해소하기 위해 블록체인의 어떤 기술적 특성이 블록체인 기술을 이용한 신규 프로젝트의 성공에 영향을 미치는지 확인하고, 투자자와 프로젝트를 진행하는 사람들 모두 이를 참고하게 할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 신규 블록체인 기술 이용 프로젝트를 대상으로 연구하여 블록체인 기술적 특성을 이용하였을 때, 어떤 기술적 특성을 이용한 프로젝트가 성공할 확률이 높은지 확인한다. 블록체인 기술 이용 프로젝트의 성공 확률을 높이는 블록체인의 기술적 특징을 확인하기 위해 목표 모금액 달성을 1, 미달성을 0으로 설정하고 로지스틱 회귀 분석 모델을 수립하고 데이터를 분석한 결과, 블록체인 기술의 탈중앙화, 확장성을 달성하기 위해 노력한 프로젝트가 투자자들에게 높은 평가를 받아 모금액을 달성할 확률이 높았다. 또한 본 연구에 사용하기 위해 수집한 데이터를 인공 신경망 기법과 의사 결정 나무 기법을 활용하여 학습하고 수집한 데이터와 동시기에 발표된 백서 30개에서 추출한 데이터로 실험해본 결과, 평균 67.7%의 예측률을 보였다. 또한 의사 결정 나무 기법을 활용하였을 때, 탈중앙화와 확장성을 모두 갖춘 프로젝트들이 가장 성공할 확률이 높다고 예측하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 학문적 공헌도와 실무적 공헌도를 가진다. 학문적으로 본 연구는 블록체인 기술을 이용한 신규 비즈니스 프로젝트의 성공 확률을 높이기 위해 반드시 이용해야 할 블록체인 기술의 특성이 탈중앙화와 확장성이라는 것을 확인하였다는 의의를 가진다. 실무적으로 본 연구는 블록체인 기술을 이용하여 새로운 비즈니스를 시작하려는 사람들이 어떤 기술적 특성을 달성해야 하는지 가이드라인을 제공하며, 투자자에게는 장차 성공 확률이 높은 신규 블록체인 기술 이용 비즈니스를 선별하기 위한 기준을 제공한다.;Recently, organizations adopt the fourth industrial revolution technology to strengthen their competitiveness. As Blockchain technology could provide excellent security and decentralization to organizations, Blockchain technology is expected to be a core infrastructure of the fourth industrial revolution era. In addition to existing businesses’ adoption, developing new products or services with Blockchain technology is emerging. To develop new products or services with Blockchain technology, publishing white papers about their new business, selling their token and gathering financial resource with initial coin offering process are also widely utilized. However, there is no way to investigate which project is well-organized Blockchain-based new business project, the number of scam projects is growing fast. To solve this problem, it is necessary to find out which factors affect the success of the new project based on Blockchain technology. In this research, five technical characteristics of Blockchain are independent variable : Scalability, decentralization, security, immutability, and transparency. This study investigated new Blockchain-based business projects conducting ICOs and found out Blockchain’s technical characteristics affecting to the success of new Blockchain-based business project. In order to discover the technical characteristics of Blockchain which increases the probability of success of the project, 133 whitepapers were analysed. Logistic regression analysis model was established and the result was as follows : Projects that have tried to achieve decentralization and scalability have gained good evaluation from investors and were likely to achieve their hardcap. To assure the result, we implemented decision tree and artificial neural network with data mining tool, Orange. After training and validating with the data used in logistic regression, the models were tested with data collected from additional 30 whitepapers. On average, the models could predict 67.7 percent of the real result. In addition to logistic regression result, decision tree analysis result showed that projects with decentralization and scalability had the highest probability of success, among other projects. This study achieved both academic contribution and practical contribution. Academically, this research proved that it is necessary to utilize scalability and decentralization to achieve success of new Blockchain-based business projects. Practically, this study provides guidelines for those who want to start a new business based on Blockchain technology. This research also provides guideline for investors who want to investigate that which project is well-organized Blockchain-based new business project.
