데이트 폭력에 대한 목회상담적 접근

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 데이트 폭력이 피해 여성의 입장에서 연구되어야 할 필요성을 알리고, 여성주의 상담과 목회상담적 접근을 통하여 피해 여성을 위한 상담적 접근과 치료적 방안을 제시하고자 하는 데 있다. 데이트 폭력은 매 해 급증하고 있는 심각한 사회적 문제임에도 불구하고 여전히 개인적 차원의 문제로 인식되고 있는 것이 실정이다. 즉, 연인 관계의 문제는 당사자들이 해결해야 하는 개인적인 문제라는 편견 때문에, 감금과 살인으로까지 이어지는 심각한 양상에도 불구하고 심각성에 대한 인식이 부족하고 적절한 대응책 또한 마련되어 있지 않다. 특히 피해자의 입장인 피해 여성으로 하여금 오히려 데이트 폭력의 원인과 책임을 물음으로써 폭력적 관계를 인식하고 벗어나는 것을 더욱 어렵게 만든다. 데이트 폭력의 발달단계로서 정신적 폭력과 언어적 폭력이 성적 폭력과 신체적 폭력으로 이어지는 과정을 이해하는 것은 중요한데, 주로 심각한 흉악범죄에만 집중된 나머지 비가시적인 폭력의 유형들은 간과되어 왔다. 이 같은 유형들은 피해 여성의 생명을 직접적으로 위협하는 폭력의 전조 현상이기 때문에 결코 간과되어서는 안 되는 중요한 유형이다. 그러나 이 같은 유형이 쉽게 인식되기 어려운 이유는 가부장적이고 불평등한 사회・환경적 구조의 영향이 여성들 속에 깊게 내면화되어, 주로 지나친 통제와 간섭으로 표현되는 정신적 폭력을 사랑하기 때문에 행할 수 있는 말과 행동으로 인식하게 만들기 때문이다. 따라서 마땅히 여성으로서 견디고 헌신해야 하는 것으로 반응하도록 돕기 때문에 피해 여성 개인의 노력만으로 자신의 데이트 관계를 폭력적 관계로 명명하고, 벗어나기란 쉬운 일이 아니다. 이처럼 데이트 폭력은 더 이상 단순히 개인적인 차원에서 인식되고 해결될 수 있는 문제가 아니다. 피해 여성의 입장에서 서술된 데이트 폭력의 기존 연구들을 살펴보면, 폭력적 관계의 원인과 지속 요인에 있어서 피해 여성의 개인 내적인 결함과 가정 환경적 요인, 사회 구조적인 대응책이 미비한 현실을 지적하고 있다. 이와 같은 연구들은 피해 여성이 왜 폭력적 관계를 명명하지 못하고, 벗어나지 못하였는지에 대하여 데이트 폭력의 맥락에 은폐되어 있는 가부장적이고 고정적인 성 역할의 강요 등을 간과하고 있다. 그러므로 이는 피해 여성에게 전적인 책임과 원인을 돌릴 수 있는 위험성을 갖는다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 피해 여성을 위한 상담적 접근을 모색하기 위하여 데이트 관계라는 역동 안에 은폐되어 있는 가부장적인 구조와 고정적인 성 역할 등과 같은 불평등한 사회・환경적 요소를 살펴보고자 하였다. 한편, 이와 더불어 상담 과정 안에서 또한 폭력적 관계의 지속 원인과 피해 원인을 개인의 심리 내면에만 초점을 둠으로써, 여성이 속한 사회・환경적 구조를 간과하는 경우가 발생할 수 있다. 이러한 경우 피해 여성으로 하여금 모든 문제의 원인과 해결책을 자기 자신 안에서 찾도록 만든다. 따라서 피해 여성이 속한 사회 구조적 환경을 볼 수 없게 만들고, 오히려 그 환경 속에 적응시키는 기능을 담당하여 피해 여성에게 이중 고통을 안겨주게 된다. 그러므로 데이트 폭력을 피해 여성 중심으로 접근하고 이해하기 위해서는 피해 여성의 목소리와 경험을 중심으로 사건을 인식하고, 여성이 속한 사회적 환경과의 관계를 의식할 수 있도록 돕는 여성주의적 접근을 다루어야 할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 여성의 문제와 사회와의 관계를 이해하도록 돕는 여성주의적 상담을 토대로 데이트 폭력을 이해하고자 시도하였다. 여성주의 상담에서는 개인의 문제를 피해 당사자에만 국한된 문제로 접근하지 않으며, 사회 구조적인 맥락에서 여성의 고통의 기저에 깔린 사회적 뿌리를 의식할 수 있는 거시적 차원의 안목을 가질 수 있도록 돕는다. 즉, 무비판적으로 피해 여성이 불평등한 사회에 순응하고 적응하도록 만들지 않는다. 또한 목회상담을 토대로 피해 여성의 치료적 접근을 돕고자 하였다. 이를 토대로 한 목회상담적 자원은 피해 여성의 경험에 진심으로 귀를 기울이고, 여성이 자신의 목소리를 드러내는 것을 주저하지 않도록 격려하는 역할을 담당함으로써, 여성의 통전적인 회복을 도울 뿐만 아니라, 이제껏 배제되어 왔던 여성의 경험과 목소리, 존재 자체의 가치를 회복할 수 있도록 돕고자 한다.;The object of this study is to research Dating Violence from the female victim's point of view and to suggest an approach to counseling and therapeutic method for women by accessing to feminist counseling, and further, to pastoral counseling. Dating violence has become a serious social problem in Korea. However, There is lack of countermeasure to action the against dating abuse. Especially, It is not easy to prove the crimes and mete out appropriate punishment to offender in the context of intimate relationship. Today, many women suffer from verbal, mental and physical abuse in a romantic relationships, sexual abuse, However. they do not realize such an abusive relationship or break off this connection easily. So, the earlier studies on the basis of female victims have been performing and analyzing the factors of feminine disposition, family background and investment in relationship, while overlooking the structures of women's social environment, They attribute the cause to female victims. In other words, female victims became contributor to the dating abuse. So they are exposed to the double torture by ascribing responsibility of dating violence to them. Thus, to approach the dating abuse focusing on women victims, It is necessary not only to study intrapsychic, but also investigate the impact of social structures affecting dating violence. In this regard, this study takes a view of Feminist Approach. The argument, ‘The Personal is Political’, the best identities of feminism, express very well the idea of feminism counseling which helps awareness of association between the cause of female's psychological distress and the social environmental structures. On the other hand, Feminism counseling actively helps women recognize their unequal social environment and change that circumstance as well. Hence, it is necessary to investigate the dating violence based on feminist approach alike. Feminist Approach, causing abusive relationship to continue, points to the social environmental structures that have been concealed and helps the victims in order to find a way of solving dating violence through victims-oriented discussion from the female victim's point of view. Therefore, this study which bases on it represents an integrated approach and therapeutic resources to victims who have experienced dating violence. In this regard, this study indicates the limitations of existing counseling for victims and suggests the extended pastoral counseling approach considering the context of social circumstance surrounding women. The extended pastoral counseling approach not only helps the victims understand pains of women along with social, environmental and religious situation, but also is a foundation to be able to build a universal therapeutic method for the victims. As a result, this study proposes theological resources, restoration of female voices and construction of community as the pastoral counseling resources for the victims. It embraces the whole women who have suffered from patriarchal and gender discriminative factors, and proclaims the message of healing and release. It can help women who have devoted and sacrificed themselves for relationship, not only trust their own voices and experiences, also make holistic recovery by functioning that they restore the worthy of existence.
