Abstract

본 논문의 목적은 필자의 석사과정 졸업연주 프로그램에 관한 연구를 통하여, 시기별로 첼로작품 안에서 첼로가 가졌던 구조적인 위치와 역할 변화에 대해 탐구하고 이로써 연주 이해도를 제고하는 것이다. 프로그램은 베토벤(LudwigvanBeethoven, 1770~1827), 이청민(1987~), 이선민(1992~), 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833~1897)의 첼로 소나타로 이루어져 있으며, 각 장을 통하여 고전시대와 낭만시대 그리고 21세기에 쓰여 진 이 세 작품의 작곡 배경 및 음악적 특징에 대하여 알아보았다. 첫 번째 연구는 루트비히 판 베토벤(LudwigvanBeethoven, 1770~1827)의 생애와 <유다스 마카베우스 (Judas Maccabäus)>에 대한 내용이다. 본래 이 곡은 프레데릭 헨델(George Frideric Händel)의 오라토리오 <유다스 마카베우스 (Judas Maccabäus)>를 변주한 곡으로 베토벤의 첫 첼로 독주곡이며 그가 피아니스트로서 왕성하게 활동하던 시기에 쓰여 진 곡이다. 이러한 시기의 베토벤 소나타에서는 피아노로서 선율을 강조함과 함께 그만의 성격변주의 특징을 분석하였다. 두 번째 연구는 이청민(1987~), 이선민(1992~)의 약력과 이들의 합작품인 <블루 아워(Blue Hour)>에 대한 내용이다. 이 곡은 세 악장으로 이루어진 표제음악으로, 일출 전과 일몰 후의 오묘한 시간을 작곡자의 심경과 맞물려 표현하였다. 1악장의 주제선율을 바탕으로 나머지 두 악장을 변주시킨 형태이다. 작품배경과 주제에 따른 곡의 흐름 및 변주내용을 분석하였다. 세 번째 연구로는 요하네스 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833~1897)의 생애 및 첼로 소나타 1번 e minor와 함께 시기에 따른 그의 기악작품에 대하여 알아보았다. 브람스는 전 생애에 걸쳐 두 곡의 첼로 소나타를 작곡하였다. 1번 소나타는 그의 음악생애 중 양식적 과도기에 속하는 작품으로, 당시 그에게 처해진 상황에 대한 감정적 절제와 진지함을 구조적으로 표현하고 있다. 피아노와 첼로의 대위법적 대등한 관계를 잘 보여주며 이에 대한 특징을 알아보았다. ;The purpose of the thesis is to explore the structural position of cello and changes in its role that were reflected in cello literatures written in each musical era by focusing on my graduation recital programs, thus improving the understanding of performance. The first chapter is about Ludwigvan Beethoven(1770~1827)’s lifetime and Judas Maccabäus.Theworkthatis Beethoven’sfirstcellosonatais 12VariationsonaThemefromHändel'sOratorioJudasMaccabäus WoO.45.Since it was composed when he established his reputation as a famous pianist, the sonata well demonstrates the melody of piano and his own style of characteristic variations. ThesecondchapterintroducesprofilesofCheongminLeeandSunmin Lee and exploresBlue Hour,a joint work by the two artists.Blue Hour, a program music that consists of three movements, expresses profound and mysterious times of just before sunrise and shortly after sunset with two composers’ own interpretation of what they felt during those times. The work has a form where the second and third movements are variations on a theme from the first movement. Iprovided detailed explanations for the backgroundofthework,itsflowsinaccordancewitheachtopicand variations. Finally, in the third chapter, I explored Johannes Brahms(1833~1897)’s lifetime and his works for instrumental music including Sonata for Piano and Violoncello No.1ineminor,Op.38.Throughout his entire life time, Brahms composed two cello sonatas. Sonata for Piano and Violoncello No.1 is the work that was composed when he experienced the period of stylistic transition and expresses his restrained emotions and sobriety in a structural way towards the situation that he faced at that time. The work well demonstrates contrapuntal equal relations between piano and cello, and I explored its musical characteristics.
