프로젝트 접근법을 적용한 유치원 만 4세 유아의 달에 대한 탐구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 프로젝트 접근법을 적용하여 만 4세 유아의 달에 대한 탐구를 효과적으로 운영하기 위한 방안을 모색하고 실행하여, 효과적 운영 방안이 유아에게 미치는 영향을 고찰하는데 있다. 연구 목적에 따른 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 만 4세 유아의 달에 대한 탐구를 위한 효과적 운영 방안은 무엇인가? 2. 만 4세 유아의 달에 대한 탐구를 위한 효과적 운영 방안이 유아에게 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구는 서울시에 위치한 공립유치원인 보라유치원 만 4세 학급 달누리반에서 이루어졌으며 연구 대상은 이 학급 유아 14명이다. 연구 기간은 2018년 3월 12일부터 2018년 5월 31일까지이다. 본 연구는 만 4세 유아들의 과학교육에 대한 문제점 인식, 문제 인식에 따른 해결방안 모색, 실행, 평가 순으로 진행됐다. 특히 본 연구에서는 프로젝트 접근법을 교수·학습방법으로 적용하여 유아의 달에 대한 탐구를 위한 효과적 운영 방안을 실행했다. 교육활동은 달누리반 담임교사인 본 연구자가 실시하였고 이를 녹음 및 전사하여 현장노트를 작성했다. 이외에도 교사 저널, 유아 관찰 기록지, 동료 교사 면담 자료, 부모 쪽지 및 면담 자료 등을 수집하여 이를 범주화하고 부호화하여 연구 문제별로 분석했다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프로젝트 접근법을 통해 만 4세 유아의 달에 대한 탐구를 위한 효과적 운영 방안을 단계별로 살펴본 결과는 다음과 같다. 프로젝트의 계획 단계에서 유아의 관심과 흥미에 따라 주제를 ‘달’로 선정한 뒤 연구자가 주제망과 활동 예상안, 자원 목록을 작성했고, 1단계에서는 유아들과 주제에 대한 사전 경험을 공유한 후 유아와 교사의 공동 주제망 구성, 주제에 대한 궁금한 점 탐색하기, 부모 협조 요청을 실시했다. 프로젝트 2단계에서는 달에 가기 위한 방법 및 달의 실제 모습과 위상 변화 알아보기, 전문가 초청 및 달의 위상 변화 실험하기, 우주에 대해 알아보기의 활동이 전개됐다. 프로젝트 3단계에서는 전시회를 준비한 뒤 만 5세반과 만 3세반을 초청하여 프로젝트의 전 과정을 공유하고 평가하는 시간을 가졌다. 둘째, 프로젝트 접근법을 적용한 만 4세 유아의 달에 대한 탐구를 위한 효과적 운영 방안이 유아에게 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과는 첫째, 과학적 지식을 습득했다. 둘째, 지적, 사회적 기술 및 표현 기술이 증진됐다. 셋째, 자연현상에 대한 호기심과 주도성, 문제해결식 접근법을 취하는 성향 및 도전을 추구하는 성향과 같은 긍정적 성향이 발달했다. 넷째, 학급에 대한 소속감과 지적 만족감 및 성취감과 같은 긍정적 감정을 경험했다.;This study aims to seek and carry out plans for the effective operation of four-year-old children’s exploration of the moon, applying the project approach and to investigate the impact of plans for the effective operation on the children. Research questions according to the research purpose are as follows: 1. What are effective operating measures for four-year-old children’s exploration of the moon? 2. What is the impact of plans for the effective operation of four-year-old children’s exploration of the moon on the children? This study was conducted at Dalnuri Class for four-year-old children in Bora Kindergarten, a public kindergarten located in Seoul, and the subjects of the study were 14 children in the class. The research period was from March 12, 2018 through May 31, 2018. This study was conducted in the following order: Recognizing problems in science education for four-year-old children; seeking a solution according to the recognition of problems; and implementing and evaluating it. Especially, this study carried out plans for the effective operation of the children’s exploration of the moon, applying the project approach as teaching and learning methods. This researcher, the teacher in charge of Dalnuri Class conducted educational activities, which were recorded and transcribed to draw up a field note. In addition, this study collected a teacher journal, recording sheets of the observation of the children, colleagues’ interview data, parents’ memos and interview data, categorized and encoded them to analyze them by the research questions. The results obtained through this study are summarized as follows: First, the result of an examination of the plans for the effective operation of four-year-old children’s exploration of the moon by phase through the project approach is as follows. In the stage of planning the project, the ‘moon’ was selected as a topic according to the children’s attention and interest, and the researcher drew up a topic network, a plan for expected activities and a list of resources. At Stage 1, this researcher shared prior experiences about the topic with the children, composed the teacher’s joint topic network with the children, explored curious problems about the topic together and requested for parents’ cooperation. At Stage 2 of the Project, the researcher examined the method of going to the moon and its actual appearance and phase change with the children. In addition, an expert of Earth Science visited, and the researcher conducted an experiment on the phase change of the moon and investigated space with the children. At Stage 3 of the Project, the researcher and children prepared an exhibition and invited classes of five-year-old children and three-year-old children to share and evaluate the entire process of the Project together. Second, the result of the impact of plans for the effective operation of four-year-old children’s exploration of the moon, applying the project approach on the children was as follows. First, they acquired scientific knowledge. Second, their intellectual, social and expressive skills improved. Third, their positive dispositions were developed. Concretely, their curiosity about natural phenomena improved, and their initiative was enhanced. In addition, their disposition of taking a problem-solving approach and disposition of pursuing challenge improved. Fourth, they experienced positive emotions. Concretely, their sense of belonging to the class improved, and they experienced intellectual satisfaction and achievement.
